There was a Laban Estes in Burke County, NC, and another Laban Estes in Davidson County, TN. They seem to be contempary with each other, but the Laban Estes of Davidson County is my ancestor. His son, Josiah married Henrietta White (b in VA) and was killed about 1845. I have little additional information, as estate or other records for Josiah Estes are not found in Davidson County.

I have been working on this Ezra Estess line for a couple of years now. I have never come across a Lenard Estess connected with this line. Ezra had several brothers, two of which spent some time in that area (Pike, Amite, Wilkinson) of MS: William (1785-1846), Ephraim (1797-1862). They are all the sons of Elisha Estes III who has been a challenge to track through out his life. There are a couple of Thomas L Estess born to various brothers in the 1820's & 30's. I don't know if the "L" is for Lenard.

Hope this helps.

I am searching for the family of Lenard Estes b. 1820 in Mississippi. I did a search of the 1820 MS Census on Hertiage and only one Estes was found, Erza Estes of Pike Co. MS. Checking tax records it appears he had sons named William, John D.and James. Does anyone know this Ezra and the names of his sons?

I would appreciate being notified of any Estes that you know of living in MS in 1820.

Thanks

I haven`t any family left to ask these questions to, so I am finding this so interesting to be able to find my ancestors. I found my 3rd ggmothers grave, Elizabeth Estes Benton-it is in the country near Kearney. Would love to be able to get in touch with you, e-mail address??? thanks Janie
I am the gg granddaughter of Edgar Elias Estes and Mary Belle Futrell Estes. In the 1900 or 1910 census it lists a Bessie Jewel Estes and Charlie Estes as a daughter and son when at the ages of all involved it would have been impossible. Does anyone know who might be the biological parents of these two?
Thanks,
Kellie Fleming Walter

denise, i have been trying to post for several hours--we are first cousins and grandma minnie passed away here where i live. she had come to live with us. i was browsing the net and trying to look up her parents as well and kept getting sent back to another website for bellk and not claunch. i did find claunch's that are native american and of course we have native american blood from benjamin's side but not in census for baker roll. i don't know much of anything but she is buried here. erskine, my father, passed away in 2009. the name estes sounds familiar and i recall that molly mothershed related to us(rskine said she is a cousin) was a calligrapher and kept the family history and resided in oklahoma. i gave the book to my sister and don't know if she has it. the billy saul estes is somehow linked to our family yet i dont remember how and if molly was on our grandmother's side or benjamin's? i remember ethyl but i never met you or your mother but my mother, irene saw you i think in 1976. hope to hear from you, cousin in florida, k. belk

I think That's my family!!!! You're my family?????? How did you find out the name of Josephine and Pennie??? What did John T. Estes do for a living and since there were two wives how do we know which one was the mother of Edward and did he share the same mother as Rodney? There seemed to be a BIG age difference between Edward and Rodney.... I have not been able to find a name of a wife anywhere so to hear two names that you just mentioned amazes me...My great grandfather, Rodney C., married Mamie B. Curtis. They had 5 children (my grandfather was their oldest, Leon) Rodney died when my grandfather was 12 years old. He died in a closed coal mine in what was then "Arno" virginia. He died with another young man with the last name of Vickers....

My great grandfather was Rodney C. Estes.. I have great reason to believe that we are related. Rodney C. Estes married my great grandmother, Mamie B. Curtis. I really want to know more about what you know. We are trying to find out more about Rodney C. Estes' parents, etc. It seems like the information stops after our great grandfathers' births and it's been very frustrating trying to find out more. My great grandfather Rodney Estes, died in the coalmine in Virginia and my great grandmother, Mamie, moved to Henrico, Virginia with her sons, Leon(my grandfather who was their oldest son and who was about 12 at the time), Norman, Clifton and Ernest. All of which are now deceased. There was a baby that died that we only knew was called "RC". Please reply.

Devereaux Jerome Woodlief (born near Petersberg, Va.1806)
his mother was Harriet Jane Reynolds.(she was born in New York City, N.Y. 1819 to Harriet A. and Capt. Allen C. Reynolds) Allen Reynolds was granted the first Mexican Land Grant in Houston Harris County in 1831 (before the Allen Brothers bought property from John Austins widow in Houston)
Capt.
On 12/08/2011 you sent me a post stating that we have the same Dad. I, personally, am not the child of a Estes; my husband is. I do genealogy for every surname our families are related to. I have traced his Estes family and what I sent you on previous occasions is part of that research. I would be happy to share what I can on your Estes but I have not traced your particular line all the way. However, I do have some and would be happy to share what I have.

I am researching the John Larkin ESTES family of Kentucky, and, later, Georgia. My children are his g-g-grandchildren, descended from his son John Beckham ESTES who married Mary Porter KAYLOR. Their son, Joseph L. ESTES, born 1927, had a son Joseph L Estes, born 1949-that is their father. I would love to get in touch with anyone from this family - will share what I have!
