William Exline was my great grandfather and his wife Martha Tilley Lammey was my G grandmother. My Grandmother was Josephine Exline George. My mother was Elizabeth J George who married Robert E Nelson.
I have been trying to touch base with your part of the Exline family recently. I have alot of Exline & Lammey pictures (most came from Aunt Janie and Tommie to my mom) that I would like to share (and need help with identifying people) as well as a family tree on ancestry.com. If you are interested please let me know.

William was my grandfather. My father was Marcus Exline b 1901. William b 1852 was the son of David B 1828 son of Abraham b 1793, son of John b 1761, son of George b 1735, son of George Christoff Oechslen b 1705, Alsace. Prussia, Germany, d 1 Apr 1768 Pikeland, Chester Co, Penn. This generation was when the name changed. I have more info on spouses and children. Willing to share information.

I just telephoned my mother. She is looking through her family trees, etc. She does not have any information on computer. I've asked her to please email me the information. I will then forward onto you.

Do you have a completed tree from Abraham to David? I would like to compare them.

It has been exciting finding your post! I hope we are talking about the same people.

2009 Axline/Exline Reunion

We will be holding the reunion on Sunday, June 28th at the Depot in Wellston, Ohio
We will eat about 1:00
This is an air conditioned building for the comfort of our older and or heat sensitive relatives.
The Depot is located on the corner of Railroad and Second Streets in Wellston.

The building used to have a piano, so if you play, bring a couple song books and perhaps we can have a sing along if conversation lags!

The cost of the building is $200.00. Our cousin Pam is the secretary/treasurer. If you wish to make a donation please email her at pam_ferrell07@yahoo.com. Put “reunion donation” in the subject line so that she will know the email is connected to the reunion. Pam also plans activities for the children. If you would be willing to help her in this endeavor email her with “I will help with the kids” in the subject line. I know she would appreciate the help!

This will be a “Pot Luck” meal. Please choose from at least 2 of the following:
Meat or meat dish
Vegetable
Salad
Dessert
The building has a small kitchen with a stove and refrigerator. This will make it much easier to keep hot foods hot and cold foods cold.

We also ask that you bring your own plates, eating utensils and drinks (no alcohol).

We hold a silent auction each year. You are not required to bring anything for the auction but it is always a fun part of the day. We have sold everything from Amish baked goods (yummy) to crystal items to kitchen towel sets; baby items; gardening items; candles; Genealogy books; you name it! So start planning on what you might want to include in the auction now.

If you have any pictures or Genealogy information to share, please bring copies. Not everyone attending works on the family Genealogy, but many of us do.

Please make sure you pass along this information to all family members that you know! It would be wonderful to fill up the Depot this year and have to look for a larger facility in 2010!

I have been told that I descend from John May and his wife, Sophia Exline of Loudoun County, VA, though their daughter, Christina May , born 1775.
But I don't see "Christina" listed on most of the John May family groupings, so I am wondering if maybe she was some one else's daughter.
I also thought you might be interested in knowing the John Friend names the parcel "Friend's Retreat" in 1762. As others joined John and Joseph Friend the valley took their name.
Thus, there needs to be an apostrophe in Friend's Cove.
Comments on any of the above would be welcome.

This shelter has plenty of picnic tables (the web site states 5 but it has close to 3 times that many), electricity and a small grill. The public pool is across the street with rest room facilities (although the restrooms are on the far side of the pool and it is a long walk). There is a port a potty close by that we can use. None of the shelter houses have running water so we will need to bring our own water for washing up and drinking. There is plenty of open space for horse shoes and other games but no playground equipment for the smaller children.

There are also some nice B & B?s, Hotels and Motels?.just do a goggle search.

Keep an eye out for something to bring for the Silent Auction. This is always a fun event?.things that have sold well in the past are Crystal items, Candles and Candle Holders, Stationery, Baby items such as blankets and bibs, Kitchen items such as dish towel sets. Use your imagination?..keep an eye out now?..you never know what unusual or useful item you might happen to run across!

But if anyone can provide further up-to-date onfo on these descendants, please let me know. I know what I have presently is "not" complete, & I definitely welcome more information.

George Lafayette FRENCH below was the son of Samuel FRENCH (b.1817 d.1874), whom was the son of Brig. Gen. Henry FRENCH (b.1785 d.1850). Of course, Henry was one of the earliest settlers of Sullivan Co. Indiana.

I am also a descendant of John Exline from the Revolutionary war through George, Abraham, etc. I have been out of the loop recently and not doing genealogy work due to lack of time and being unable to get onto the MyFamily page. I would be very interested in any info. you have on him. I have a service card from the war which I copied two years ago at a HUGE gen. library. Also, if anyone can send info on the reunion, which is prob. in WV, I would love to know when it is. As I said, I cannot get onto the Family page.

d.04 Jul 1906; John Exline & Ott.
Her mother was Elizabeth Ott

From a Bible page, James Duncan born 16 Oct 1812;
died 30 July 1889
Mary Ann Duncan born 30 Dec 1816
died 4 July 1906.
Because of her marriage to Charles Longnecker Hays,I am including their daughter's birth as stated on same page as the prior mentioned;
Mary Ellen Duncan born 3 Dec 1847.
Mary Ellen & Charles Hays are among those mentioned in the above James's will, registered 4 Sept. 1889; James's father's will was registered 1st July 1867; both of South Beaver Twp., Beaver Co., PA.

Yes, Dollie Mae's mother was Sarah A. Glover, b. 1 Jan 1864. Dollie Mae Exline was born 24 May 1888 in Jackson Co, OH and died 1 Feb 1984 in Gallia Co, OH. Dollie married Charles Graham in Jackson Co, OH. Dean Exline and Jim Exline were kind enough to fill in the blanks of my Exline family tree once I received Dollie's death certificate and was able to verify the names of her parents. I received a certified copy of Dollie Mae Exline Graham's death certificate from Jackson County, Ohio. I would be more than happy to scan and e-mail a copy to you. The death certificate shows Dollie's parents to be Jacob Exline and Sarah Glover. Dollie's date of birth was 24 May 1888. She died on 1 Feb 1984 in Gallipolis, Gallia Co, Ohio at Holzer Hospital. She resided on Portsmouth Street in the city of Jackson, Jackson County, Ohio and is buried at Fairmount Cemetery. My mother and my aunt remember a great uncle, brother of Dollie, named Clarence. Siblings of Dollie include:
Charles 1885
Clarence 1889
Tena 1890
Cloarena 1892
Tacie 1894
Flossie 1898
The names of Dollie's siblings were provided to me by Jim Exline, who is a descendant from the same Exline line, and by Dean Exline who has in his possession a book about the Exline family. I believe the book was published sometime in the 1950's. Dollie married Charles Graham, b.20 Apr 1886 in Jackson, Ohio. Charles was the son of John Graham and Caroline "Callie" Bloss. Their children are:

Clarence E. 1910 - 1973 (my grandfather)

You are much, much further in your Exline-Glover-Smith research than I am in my research. I've spent the past few years working on my father's family and have not been near as attentive as I should have been to my maternal line!

Do you have info about Jane, the fifteen year old child in George and Priscilla's household in the 1870 census? Could she be the mother of Charles? Interestingly, the Joseph Smith household (#159) with a 9 year old Priscilla Smith, is not terribly far away from my g-g-g grandparent's household (John and Mary Jenkins Graham, #326) in Lawrence County, Elizabeth Twp., in the 1850 census. The grandson of John and Mary, Charles Graham, married Dollie Exline, the granddaughter of Priscilla Smith Glover, around 1905 in Jackson County.

I ordered the death certificate for George W. Glover and will let you know when I receive the copy from Ohio.

Dolly May Exline of Jackson Co OH

I am searching for the parents of Dollie M. Exline b. 24 May 1888 (likely in Jackson, OH) and d. 01 Feb 1984 at 95 years old. Dollie was married to Charles Graham and lived in Jackson, OH throughout their marriage. Their children were Clarence (b. 1910), Paul, John, Elsie, Elizabeth and Marie. My mother remembers that Dollie had a brother named Clarence who was nicknamed "Red". I have previously searched for infomation about Dollie Exline but have been unsuccessful. Any information is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Friends Cove

In 2003, I went searching for Friends Cove. It is in Bedford County, se. of Bedford, just to the ne. of Rainsburg, off of Rte. 326. It is actually in Colerain Twp. Today, there is no town of Friends Cove. I was told by a local gas station owner that it is the name that refers to the valley there along Rte. 326. The cemetery where Exline relatives are buried is behind 2 churches (referred to as the "Two Brick Churches Cemetery"). The older church is the Old Double Brick Church erected in 1833. The sign on the front says that it housed both the Lutheran and Reformed Congregations until 1886. The other church is a more contemporary church, The Friends Cove UCC Church. There is also another cemetery in the area called the Woods Cemetery, but I could find no Exlines as I walked through it. I have photos of graves of Eliz. Exline (Dec. 1, 1763 to June 12, 1831) and Philip H. Exline (Dec. 11, 1762 to Jan. 25, 1829) that were behind the Two Brick Churches. I also have pictures the graves of Andrew Belts, Julian Belts, Samuel Beltz, Maj. Henry Beltz, William Metz and his wife, all related by marriage to the Exlines. There are also Diehls, Shoemakers, and many other German names that come up when reading about the Exlines in that time period. There is a wonderful historical society at 242 E. John Street in Bedford, Pa. (history@bedford.net) that I encourage you to visit if you have time visiting that area.

I have them...with the Fibromyalgia (can't remember a thing) I wasn't sure where I got them and was going to forward them to you...oh well....it was a good thought.

Based on my research, Dolla was the daughter of Jacob Exline and Sarah Glover. According to the 1900 Jackson Co., OH census, she was born in May 1888.
