Something to confuse things a little more. A lady, Edna Shaw (in her late 70's now) from Devon is a Falkinder by birth and descended from John Mary Falkinder who were married about 1798 in Lincolnshire. A Mrs Michelle Hovell, 39 Kyeema Cres., Bald Hills, Brisbane, 4036 (current May 1995) is also a descendant of John Mary. The Falkinder's are recorded in Lincolnshire history as far back as the 1600's. 3 of John Mary's sons moved to West Yorkshire about 1830.
I don't know my own family history but am interested to find out - hence my reply.
Another interesting story of which I have no proof. During the reign of one of the King Henry's (in particular, the German Henry), my grandfather, many times removed, was a king's musician. The story goes that our name was spelt slightly differently and the king changed the spelling to Falkinder. It would be interesting to know as Falkinder certainly has some German origins.
I will be very interested in your comments.
