Hi,

I am Frederick K. Farner. I am a descendant of Christian Farner through the Maurer line. I've plenty of recent data [ 1870's on] and would like to share info looking for older data.

Thank you,

Fred Farner

I don't know if we have corresponded before or not.

Hi,
I think this is incorrect. Leona was my aunt. I interviewed her many years ago. She was married three times to wit: 1)Burtram Lee Ziegler; 2) Albert Conner; 3) Julius Fischer.

She had a son Albert by Conner, & a son Leith by Ziegler, and no children by Julius.

I never heard any mention of a 'Sherman' marriage though.

ffarner@coinet.com

Fred Farner

Sorry it took me so long to reply, I saw that I'd had a bite to my question & then got busy & forgot to check it. I wish I knew more myself. My Grandfather was William C Farner (we called him Bill) who was apparently the brother of your Grandfather & my Great Grandfather was William C Farner. My Grandfather grew up in Michigan but moved to California after the depression I think. My Great Great Grandfather was Michael Farner & my Great, Great, Great Grandfather was Caspar (or Kaspar) Pfarner who was the first to move to America. He came from France, but as Pfarner is a German name, I haven't gone much further back yet as it will take some heavy duty research. Please note that they dropped the P from Farner as they Americanized themselves.

I've noticed that you spelled Laurence differently than I found in my research I will correct my files so it is correct. Eventually I will get further, but you have probably accessed my current family tree as it is public and saw that I didn't go any further than America yet. Someday I hope to get more time to devote, but as other parts of my tree are in America clear back to the Puritans, I've been more focused on that. I'll do what I can, when I can so don't write me off yet.

It's very nice to meet you Dave, my Son's name is David Michael Kennedy-Farner (we hyphenated him so that the Farner name wouldn't die with me as my father was an only son) & you can contact me directly at KandV@att.net if you'd like to keep in touch.

I have attached 2 pictures which I recently got my Mother to dig up of my Grandparents William (Bill) & Twila Farner with me and my sister Chris, Does Bill look anything like Laurence did? I've also attached a picture of my Father. Eventually I'll get more pictures scanned into the computer, but for now these will have to do.

Take care,

Kimberly

Hi Tanya.

My grandmother's maiden name was also Farner. Her married name was Violet Alleman. She lived in Shippensbug, PA. I remember researching our family tree years ago for a school project. The names William and Mary Farner seem very familiar to me. Did your grandmother have a sister named Violet?

Thanks!

I've been told my whole life that one of my Grandfathers (I'm assuming William C. Farner bd 1866 NY -or- Michael Farner bd 1838 NY -or- Caspar Pfarner bd 1793 France) was a french trapper who married a Chippewa Indian girl and that I'm decended from her. I cannot locate any marriage which seems to hold this information up. We've always been very proud of this and now I cannot prove it's true. Please if anyone knows anything I sure would appreciate the information.

I know that Jerry passed a while back and was living in Poplar Bluff, Mo. when he passed. I never got an opportunity to know him well. I know that he was from a combined family and I believe he had a half-brother named Bill. This is about all I know about my Rievley heritage as I was not raised with or by my father. I would love to know more about my history and some of what I have read from your postings seems familuar to me ( I was once told that I had a great grandmother who was indian). If any of my information is part of your puzzle please help me to complete mine. Thank you and may God bless!

FERNER – FARNER – FURNER Family Genealogy Booklet

I have a booklet “Sketches and Register of Ferner, Farner and Furner Families”, dated April 3, 1941, compiled by O. A. Ferner of Alliance, Ohio. This 30 page document contains data from the research begun by Roy Y. Ferner who sought information on the families of Somerset Co., Pennsylvania. After Roy’s death in 1934, O. A. Ferner was able to expand on the data by acquiring information from many contributors via correspondence. The author claims some 3,500 names are in the register, most of whom can trace their ancestry to the Ferners and Farners of Somerset County. The record is divided into four parts: I. Daniel of the Revolution; II. John of Forbes Road; III. Jacob and John of Fairhope; and IV. Farners and Furners outside Somerset. This last section includes four groups: (1) Furners of West Virginia, (2) Farners of Franklin Co., PA, (3) Farners (originally Furners) from Juanita Co., PA, and (4) Furners of western New York. The booklet contains descendants from the four major divisions, along with a few biographical sketches and photos.

If anyone would like to have a copy of this document, please contact me at detyler@sbcglobal.net. The material is not copyrighted, so there is no issue with duplication. I can either e-mail you a scanned version in .pdf file format, or I can provide a hard copy for the cost of mailing. Please don’t request a look-up. The booklet is not indexed, and I really don’t have the time to do name searches. Thank you for your consideration.

Hope this may help someone with their research! Dave
Hello, my name is Jesseca Huntley and I am currently researching my mother's side of the family, but currently do not know too much, here's what I have so far.
My mother is Deborah Farner, but is now Smith through marriage. She was born in 1956 in Columbiaville, Michigan. Her parents (both deceased now) were Max Ardin Farner (born 1918) and Dorthy E. Farner (maiden name Brown born 1924). Max served in World War II. Max mother and father were Carl Farner (no idea of birth) and Olive Farner (maiden name Bryan).

However this is as far as I can go, so I was wondering if anyone knows anymore. I would be very excited to get more info since I am stuck right now!

E-mail me at joeandjesseca@sbcglobal.net with a subject ancestry.com

My Great Great Grandfather was Dr. William Henry Farner, as I understand; he originally came from Baden, Germany. His father was Duke Michael Farner. He married my Great Great Grandmother Sarah A. Swindler (William had been married before he married my Grandmother who was the same age as one of her sons). William & Sarah had three children: Michael B., Elizabeth Irene and Estelle. William was a Catholic, I think he married Sarah while living in Texas. He died in Loraine, Illinois Dec. 14, 1878. If you have any information you think might be my Grandfather please let me know.

Mattie

Jacob M. Farner b. 1803 Greene County, Tenn.

Jacob M. Farner born in Virginia, raised in Tenn. married an Elizabeth Myers in 1821. I believe they were German or Swiss, as were the Myers. Elizabeth Myers is daughter of Henry Myers and Elizabeth Trobaugh. Surmise Jacob M. Farner's father to be John, as record of a John Farner in 1812 state census in Tenn. exists. Any clues as to parentage of Farners in Virginia, Maryland, or other. Any immigration records of Farners during time in question?

I have Farner ancestors also who migrated from Tennesee to Iowa. It appears from other research that the name may have been Fahrner, and Swiss German, Austrian, or German. The Frederick Farner in your line may have been a more recent immigrant, possibly from a German speaking country. Do you know? Frederick sounds Germanic.

Sandy,
I am new with all of this but after reading all these messages and responding with some information I have gathered. I am trying to figure out a couple of things regarding Rosie Rievley Colman and her family. James Russel wrote that Hugh Joshua Rievley had three families. Was he married to Sallie Brown Rievley and do you know how many children they had? I know that my grandmother, Iva Rievley White is the daughter of Sallie Rievley but my trail runs cold regarding her father, brothers or sisters. Do you have any information or do you know someone in this Rievley lineage that can help me? I have pictures of my grandmother and she sure sounds like she might be a sister to Rosie. Thank you, April

My grandmothers name was Iva Rievley from Chaonia, Wayne Co. Missouri. She married James Virgil White, also of Chaonia, Wayne Co. April 20, 1929. Do you know if her mothers name was Sallie Rievley? I am trying to locate any information on both my grandparents and their parents. My information is first coming together and is sketchy at best.
