Looking for any info on Laura Farnham. B:abt 1843 in Vermont. Death is unknown, but most likely in South Carolina. She married Albert Eubanks and had eight children. My subscription is up, so I can't view the census, but at least one of her parents was born in Vermont. She's listed on her children's DCs by various forms of her name, including Forinam.

Farnham Surname

I am in the early stages of my search for my mother's father's family. Her name is Norma Gayle Farnham. She was born to Mary Meadows and Gayle Farrington Farnham. Gayle was born in Iowa, but was soon relocated to Faith, South Dakota, where he was raised for his entire life. His father is Francis Farrington Farnham. I'm trying to search further on Francis' side. The only by mouth information I have is that he came up from Iowa for free land in South Dakota. He had a homestead (that is still there) where he raised beef and shetland ponies of all things! If anyone has any information on the Farnham's from South Dakota, please feel free to drop me a line...I would be eternally grateful.

According to census records, her parents were both born in Ohio. Any help would be appreciated.

Kennebec Journal
BELGRADE -- Frank P. Farnham, 88, died suddenly on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005, at Inland Hospital in Waterville.
He was born in his parents' house in Belgrade on March 2, 1917, the son of George Bertram and Mabel (Page) Farnham. He never strayed far from his roots and, at the time of his death, still lived within a couple of miles of the place he was born and spent his life making a living off the land that has been in his family since 1840.For seven decades, he toiled in the fields, fighting drought, insects, vegetable-eating varmints, early frost, the heat and the rain. To hear him talk, he lost every battle, but he somehow managed to support a family and put three children through college. He also managed to help hundreds of local high school and college kids get their first job experience, buy school clothes, have spending money and gain the foundation that would help enable them to become solid citizens of many local communities.

His wife of 28 years, Claudia (Howard) Farnham, died in 1973. His second wife of 17 years, Cecelia (Dudley) Farnham, died in 1994. He is survived by two sisters, Lydia Johnson of Belgrade Lakes and Boca Raton, Fla., and by Lucille E. Sturtevant, of Medfield, Mass.; three children, Dawn Marie Farnham of Madison, N.H., and Duane Howard Farnham and Lynn Jeanette Farnham of Belgrade. Also surviving are a grandson, Stephen M. Farnham of Winslow, and a granddaughter, Rebecca L. Loehr of North Waterford, Vt.; other survivors include five great-grandchildren, several stepsons and a stepdaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Farnham from Vermont to Alabama.

I am trying to find information on my grandfather, Charles Braxton Farnham. He was born in Vt., according to the census, but his father, Oliver Farnham, was born in VT. He married #1- Mary (Harrelson??), #2-Mary Ellen Carpenter (my grandmother), and Nancy Wise. The children with Mary Ellen deleted the "h" in their last name. They were married December, 1900, in Covington County, Alabama. He was 51 years old, and Mary Ellen was 14. His oldest children were about the same age of Mary Ellen, excepting Thomas "Dewey", who was 2 at the time of the marriage. His older children were Clara, Molly, Jessie (female), Rosie, and "Dewey". I know about the children from marriage #2, but what about the ones from marriage #1; or any relatives from anywhere else?? Joanie.

Rufus Farnham, 1775 and wife: Elizabeth Grover?

In a posting here on the Farnham Genforum, I saw, in a nutshell, the line of Rufus FARNHAM b. 1775; I think he is the one for whom I am trying to get more information. Posted elsewhere is information that says Rufus b 8 July 1775 in Hampton, Windham, CT married 26 Nov 1801 in Ashford, Windham, CT an Elizabeth GROVER who was born 13 Dec 1771 in Norwich, New London, CT. They had children: Rufus 1802; Lucy 1804; Caroline 1807; Jeremiah 1809 and Stephen 1811, all born in Ashford, Windham, CT. Can anyone confirm this marriage? There is a question about the Elizabeth Grover that may have married Rufus - who were her parents and when/where was she really born? (documented sources/information, please, no hearsay, no guesses; it also concerns my Grover ancestry & the birth of my own Elizabeth ("Betsey") Grover, the one who married Abel Fuller.) From what I have seen of the ancestry of the submitter of the Grover/Farnham families it is incorrect and families are mixed up. Easy to do with all those of same names, time periods - I had to do over my own Grover line a few times before I finally got it down.

Line of Justin Farnham

According to "Farnham/Farnum Families in America" by Antoinette Farnham Stepanek, published 1993 by Heritage Books, this is the line of the Justin Farnham who married Lucinda Frost. I will start with Henry because Antoinette never determined, to her own satisfaction, the relationship between Henry and John--father & son, half brothers, uncle/nephew?--

Gen. I. Henry, b. ca. 1623, d. 13 Jan 1700, m. ca. 1652 Johanna Ruck (1625/26 - 11 Aug. 1689.
Gen. II. Peter (b. 9 Jan 1665, d. 14 Feb. 1704, m. 8 Dec. 1686, Killingworth CT, Hannah J. Wilcoxson (19 Jan. 1665 - 3 April 1708).
Gen. III. Josiah, b. 6. July 1698, d. March 1756, m. 10 May 1725 Sarah Cooper Atchinson (2 May 1702 - ??).
Gen. IV. Noah, b. 24 Jan. 1727, d. 3 May 1809, m. 1750, Elizabeth ___?__ (1712-1816 [sic]).
Gen. V. Reuben, b. 1749 [sic] , d. 5 Oct. 1828, m. 28 Nov. 1778 int. Springfield, MA, Keziah Wait (5 Jan 1754- 9 Aug. 1822).
Gen. VI. Justin , b. 3 Sept. 1791, d. 16 Dec. 1857, m. 1 Dec. 1814 Lucinda Frost (1793 - 30 April 1859).

Anyone else have Justin Sr in their line? He married Lucinda Frost, dau of David Frost and Esther Bixby.
