I just read your post in regards to searching for Faulhaber's in the Lincoln, Nebraska area. My great grandma (Lilly Faulhaber) lived most of her life in Adams Nebraska and then moved to Lincoln in her later years. Unfortunately, there is only a few existing in the Lincoln area. Furthermore, please let me know what I can assist you with and I will do my best to help you.

-Whitney

Looking for information on this Joseph. I have a Joseph Faulhaber born 1830 in Frittlingen who is noted as coming to America along with his older brother John Baptist Faulhaber born 1815.

Joseph is called Joseph Fowler in both the 1860 and 1870 censuses, but Faulhaber in 1880. He had five sons in the 1880 census. William, Samuel, Alexander, Joseph and Frederick.

On a side note, there are many Faulhabers in Frittlingen which is in Schurra, an Austrian controlled province in present day Wuerttemberg.

Anne, sorry to be slow -- I just now noticed your message.

I see the Sweitzer children were actually born in Höheinöd, but christened in Thaleischweiler. I may be able to get some further information about the Sweitzers of Höheinöd -- I'll check with a colleague there. Since they went to church at Thaleischweiler, that might mean that the Schatzmann family was from Thaleischweiler.

Thank you for replying. If your grandfather was Gustav, then he was probably my grandfather's brother. Accordingly to my family history, Gustav started out in Dubuque, but moved to Minnesota some years later. (I don't have the information with me right now; we're out of town for a few days.) I see that you live in Minnesota, which leads me to believe that we are related!
As you've seen, my first name is also Jean...just spelled differently...and my surname was Faulhaber.
Do you have information in your family line that you would bewilling to share for my ancestry database? If you would prefer to share it via personal e-mail, I will supply that if you'd like.
Thanks again for replying!

Responding to your request for any additional information that I may have found. When you went to see Valentine's headstone at St Marys did you notice the large monument headstone nearly next to his for Bernard Faulhaber? Bernard was the son of Lewis. Lewis and Valentine were living next to each other in the 1860 census. This was a short time after Valentine had immigrated. This would make me think that they were related in some way but I haven't made the connection yet. Did you also see the headstone for Valentine's 1st child Franz Christian at St Marys? I need to check with the cemetery office to see if Valentine's 1st wife is also buried there, as it would make sense. I found a family in 1850 census with father Andrew and daughters Catherine, Elizabeth and Caroline Laubach that may possibly be Valentine's 1st wife. Experience tells me that there are many misspellings on census' and other records. Plus there's the question? Was her name Caroline or Catherine, as different researchers can't seem to agree on the same name. The 1891 pension document I have, that Valentine completed in his own hand,- - Valentine wrote on the form that his 1st wife was Caroline and his 2nd wife was Margaret Hemmer, he also listed all of his living children with their birth dates. I know that you had told me that one of your relatives told you that Valentine was buried at Johnson's Island, and that his first wife died in child birth. Caroline died 6 months after her last child was born and you saw Valentine's headstone at St Marys, so family info cannot all be believed, as I've found out with my own family. Were you ever able to find any photos of Valentine or his two wives?

I'm looking for a picture of Henry (Heinrich Adolf) Faulhaber (and his parents Louis and Helen Souder Faulhaber) born on 10, feb 1864 in Winconsin. Later moved to Nebraska and married Celia Martin. Died in 1947 in Nebraska. His son Neil moved to Oregon ~1915-20 and married Merle Hunter. Also if anyone knows about this Faulhaber line prior to immagration, or even if anyone has any immagration info, it would be appriaciated. I have a lot of info post immagration, but not pre.

I am also interested in finding more information on the Faulhaber family, particularly prior to 1920. My family branches off from Henry Adolf Faulhaber, son of Louis. I would actually like more information on Louis's father Ludwig (Louis) von Faulhaber prior to his immagration to the USA in 1929 from Baveria with his wife Louisa (Munzinger) Faulhaber. Any information would be greatly appriciated and thanks in advance!

Yes, I am still looking for information on the Faulhabers. It is great to know you are a cousin. I would think with all the children, there should be plenty of us left, distant or not! Valentine's wife Catherine Leimbach is sometimes listed as Caroline. I believe I know our connection. If your great grandmother is Mary, sister to Louis, who is my gr gr grandfather. I did not immediately remember a Mary, but on looking up the census records I have, she would have been about 10 years younger than her brother Louis. She is listed in the 1880 census as 7 years old, he is in the same records as 17. Does that sound right to you? I have lots of information on the Faulhabers in our line and would love to share whatever I have. If you'd like, email me.
eettorre@bex.net
looking forward to hearing from you,
Cathy

Valentine was also my gggrandfather, by his daughter Mary. I did research for awhile, but haven't worked on it for a few years. My records show Valentine's parents as Franz and Anna Maria (Nun?) but I don't have any additional information on them. My records also show that he was married to Catherine O. Leimbach, d. 11/8/1873 in Vermilion, however I have hit a dead end with her. I know that prior to his death, Valentine was at the Old Soldiers and Sailors' Home in Erie or Huron Counties in Ohio. He is buried at St. Mary's Cemetery on Lake Ave, Elyria, Ohio. The headstone is very easy to find. I pulled up to the caretaker's building, which was closed, started to back out of the parking lot and looked over and saw the stone. Please let me know if you have found additional information

Carrie,
Are you still looking for information on Faulhabers? I am a descendant of Valentine Faulhaber. I believe he was married to Catherine Leimbach, however I have run into dead ends with her. Valentine is buried at St. Mary's cemetery on Lake Avenue in Elyria, OH. Prior to his death he was at the Old Soldiers and Sailors' Home, which if I remember correctly is in Erie or Huron county. I believe Valenties's parents are Franz and Anna Maria. Louis Faulhaber had a sister named Mary, as well as many other siblings. Mary was my Great-Grandmother. Glenn had a sister named Edna, who married Earl Murray. They lived in the Beavercreek/Dayton, Ohio area. We still stay in touch with Edna's granddaughter and great-granddaughters.

Don,
My uncle has the actual Civil War photo of Philip, who was killed at Vickburg. Although most of the information found on Philip indicates he was a Capt. the photo actually says Major. Uncle Phil said that he also found a reference to Philip as Colonel in a book he ordered about Ohio that is now in the Mormon research library in Lake Isabella, CA. He said there are two books on Ohio there that he had ordered. I asked him to give me the titles the next time he gets to the library. Any information you have on the family would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
Rick

I am researching the Faulhabers of Seneca County, Ohio, and I have (a) some good ancestral information, and (b) some conflicting information regarding the Capt. Philip Faulhaber, killed at the Battle of Chickasaw Bayou (Vicksburg). I'd like to compare notes and see what can be confirmed about these Faulhabers. The Faulhaber family I am researching came from the village of Thaleischweiler in the Palatinate (now Rhein-Pfälz, Germany). The immigrants were Isaak Jakob Faulhaber (b.1788), married to Anna Luisa Munzinger of Bruchmühlbach (b.1788).

I'm trying to trace what happend to my great-great-grandfather Jacob Faulhaber. He married Franciska Reiger, b 1854 who came from Frankfurt-en-main, GER and they emigrated to London England in the late 1870's.

Jacob Faulhaber was a butcher and the family lived in St Annes Court in Soho London.

Between them they had 7 childred, Lena Augusta [aka Gus] b 1878 [my great-grandmother], Louise, Anne b 1885, Freda b 1888, Ella b 1886 in Germany, Harry b 1890 [aka emille] and Caroline.

Jacob Faulhaber abandoned the family in the early 1890's and emigrated to America.

Franciska died in 1897 in London aged 43. My great-grandmother Lena-augusta [aka Gus] visited the Reiger family in Germany after her mothers death asking for family help. The ony other mention of Faulhaber relation is a Cardinal Michael Von Faulhaber from Heidenfield W Germany her Uncle ?

Any connections ? most appreciated
Valentine's first wife:Catherine (Caroline) Leimbach b . abt 1842 in Ohio, d. abt 1873, m. before 1859. Second wife: Margaret (Maggie) (Hamer or Hammer or Hemmer) b. Co. 23rd Inf. Reg. Ohio, mustered out 28 Sep 1864. Wounded during his service. I'm at a road block trying to identify his parents, and parents of wives.
