Kevin:
I just saw your post here. I too am tracing our ancestors of the Fellows family. I come through the Fellows line by way of Mary Ayers who married William Fellows.
Do you have much of the Fellows history? I haven't worked that hard on it, been busy researching other lines. Would you be willing to share information? What I find I would be more than willing to share.I have where Noble Fellows was Father of William Fellows. Look forward to hearing back from you.
I have found Erastus S. Fellows in Prattsburgh, Steuben County NY. This Erastus I think was born 1798 in Canaan Connecticut to Ephraim and Abigail. Erastus had an older brother William (different mother). .See if this Ephraim in Canaan or his son William might make sense as a father of your William. Let me know if you find out anything interesting.

n

Re: RUSSELL Q. FELLOWS

Hello Michelle,
I was recently doing a search on Google and Ancestry.com for information on my birth father, Russell Quincy Fellows. I came across the thread you exchanged with family members in 2003, and I think you might be my half sister.
I was born - and adopted - in San Diego in November 1955. My birth mother told me that my birth father was Russell Quincy Fellows. I believe Russell was separated from his first wife at the time they met, and I think he already had a son or daughter (or both) at the time. She said Russell lived in San Diego or, perhaps, in the San Marcos area, and that the family came from Ohio. She said his brother's name was either Robert or Ronald (she couldn't remember). I think she also said Russell had a sister, Joyce (or something like that).
In the late 1990's, I requested a copy of Russell's death certificate and noticed that it was signed by a "Michelle," who I think might be you.
Anyway, I come from a wonderful family who is scattered across San Diego county, but am curious to know my biological history, hopefully see a photo of my birth dad and perhaps meet a family member or two.
Does the information above sound like I might be related to you?
Best regards,
Laura
I came across your posting on Ancestry.com referencing William Fellows (b. 1609), who came to Ipswich, MA in 1635, and decided I had to write to you, since the information in your posting creates a bit of a puzzle for me. You indicate in your posting that, according to your records, William Fellows' grandfather was a certain William Fellow, born in 1558 in Nottinghamshire. I am the 8th great grandson of William Fellows, born Oct. 22, 1609, in Selston, Nottinghamshire, England, and, according to our family records, William's grandfather was a gentleman named William (Fellowe) Fellows, born in 1546 in Selston, Nottinghamshire, who married Isabel Streete and sired 7 children. If you have records indicating that William Fellows' grandfather was actually named William Fellow, and that he was born in 1558, I would love to obtain those records, especially since our family tree ends with William's father, Robert, who we understand was born in Selston in 1524. Any help you could provide would be much appreciated.

I am a 1st cousin, seven times removed, of Isaac Fellows, who was born December 12, 1699, in Hampton Falls, NH, and who married Abigail Sleeper. According to our family records, Isaac only had 7 children: Samuel, John, Deborah, Isaac (born in 1728, who died as a child), Isaac (born in 1732), Michael and Jonathan. It is possible, however, that Isaac had 3 other children, at least according to the Vrooman "Fellows Genealogy of 1977". Perhaps those other three children died in childbirth. I hope you find this information helpful.

Re: This fellows family in relation to Ephraim Fellows?

Ephriam Fellows, born September 3, 1679, in Ipswich, MA, is my 6th great-grandfather (i.e., my father’s father’s father’s father’s father’s father’s father’s father). William Fellows, Ephriam's grandfather, who was born October 22, 1609, in Selston, Nottinghamshire, England, is my 8th great-grandfather. According to our family records, Ephriam had 5 sons, Ehpriam, Nathanial, Nathan, Isaac, and John, but I don't have any records indicating that Ephriam had a son named "Abeil" or anything that sounds like "Abeil". William Fellows, Ephriam's grandfather, had a daughter named "Abigail", but that's obviously no help. So I don't know who your grandfather, Robert Bowen's mother may have been married to. The only "Robert Bowen" appearing in our family records is the 1st great grand uncle of the husband of Ephriam Fellows' first cousin. Nevertheless, we are probably related one way or another, since Ephriam Fellows had nine children and is, therefore, grand-father -- to some degree -- to a lot of people.

Thanks for your response. It would definitely be helpful to have a list of her siblings to identify any similar names, etc. I'm not convinced this is the correct person because the census records point to my Mary Ann Fellows as being born circa 1818 and I think I may have just found her tombstone entry on FindaGrave.Com which indicates she was born in 1818, but the census takers didn't always get things right and I have no way of knowing if the tombstone itself says 1818 or just an age at death. Look forward to hearing more from you.

My database shows an Abiel Fellows born 1734 in Plainfield CT, son of Ephraim Fellows born 1686 in Ipswich, MA. Abeil was married to Elizabeth, no other info on Elizabeth. They had a son named Jonathan Fellows born 1762 in Canaan, CT. THey may have had other children, however I have none shown in my database. Johnathan married Elizabeth Root in 1785 in Canaan, CT. THey had several children.

If this is your family, then yes you are a descendant of William Fellows of Ipswich. If not, you are still in the right place to find your roots with the Fellows surname.

Richard Allen Fellows
rafellows@comcast.net

Which Ephraim, there are so many. I am a direct descendant of Ephraim Fellows b. June 12, 1760 in Canaan, CT and Abigail Barnes b. May 13, 1774 in Canaan. They only had one child Erastus. Ephraim had several wives: Lucy Stowe, Polly Barnes, Abigail Barnes (yes, sisters) and Thankful Butler (yes that was her name).

Please contact me.
Richard Allen Fellows
rafellows@comcast.net
