Looking for information/help with a friedrich Fenning. very little is known about him. He was living in Winnipeg, Manitoba 1906-1908 - he was born approx 1865. brothers Karl, Julius, Rudolph and Gustav. we believe he was married twice the 2nd marriage would have occurred in Canada. Possible he moved down to the USA. Name spelling varies from Fenning, Fennig, Pfenning and Feing.

Thanks for info,william fenning was born in scotland in 1843 but we think the family came from Ireland.Anyway we've come to a dead end.

My Grandad born Belfast 1895 died 1945 George.
Had 9 brothers/sisters one called Arthur.
Father also called Arther 1852-1922.
other sibblings:
Lilly, William, Jinny, Arthur, Peggy, Jim, May, Sam.
Married my Granny 1921 had 4 kids: Edward Leo Eillen another( died infancy )

Hello David, I am doing some research on the Fennings and a few years ago I had the opportunity to meet Fr. Hugh and also his brother James in Don Loughrie. it was very interesting at the Abby, altho I could only sit in the room off the kitchen. We are trying to find out if we are related. Fr. Hugh does a lot of research and he wasn't too sure of the connection, but I am still searching. I know a John Fenning is a relative that came over about 1855 and we only know his fathers name was Michael. This particular John is buried in Leavenworth,Ks and we are planning a trip there in a few weeks to the graveyard and see if we can get any other info. His wifes name is Catherine.

A simiar query was posted in May, 2001 on the Goodfellow board by Andy Goodfellow, who now also seems to have an invalid current address that he posted. Harold, son M W 2 b. MI (this is the Uncle Harold that your other cousins are looking for online!) Charles and Joseph must be brothers.

next door to my Great Grandparents John and Rosa Cline are:
Erastus Wells, head, M W 57 married 40 years b. Mi, father b. NY- mother b. NY(Erastus' occupation was Gardener)
Harriet, wife, F W 57, b. MI father b. England, mother b. NY(although the census says New Jersey, this is in error.)
Willard, son, M W 15 single, b. Mi. father b. Mi mother b. MI
Pheningsdorf, Joseph, son in law- M W 25- married 6 yrs. b. Mi-father b. Ger-Pol. mother b. Mi (laborer)
Laura E., dau. F W 28 b. Mi. father b. Mi./ mother b. Mi
Alma, granddaughter F W 4 b. Mi father b. Mi mother b. Mi

You can get a copy of this at the library if you want, but it printed dark. I didn't check the 1900 census, as my time ran out, but Roch. Lib. has many census rolls on micro-film.
You may want to check immigration using this spelling,for Joseph's father, as their mother was born in Michigan, as I never got anywhere looking for it with the other spelling we've been using. Even checking message boards for Germany and Poland for this surname, may help.

Alfred Fenning was born in 1876 to Robert Francis and Caroline nee Chiles in Lambeth. Alfred was married twice his first wife bore him 7 children the only names I have are Robert, Ivy, Frank, Arthur and Alfred.

Lilian Mary Harris born to Walter and Mary Ann nee Hicks in 1887 in Hayes, Middx. was his second wife. Their children are Blanche, Stanley, Jimmy, Maisie and twins Joan and Patricia. Joan is my Grandmother.

Lilian Mary had been married before to George Nash their children are George, Dinah, Ivy Emma, Violet H, Male Twin, Albert H and Male ? Charles.

Hi Shirley, I have info for Joseph Fenningsdorf who married Laura Wells, and pictures of this family. Laura was daughter of Harriet Parker and Erastus H Wells of Roual Oak. Harriet died in 1928, and I have pictures of Joseph at our family reunion in about 1924. Harriet Parker was dau. of Benjamin Parker and Mary Ann Carver, of Royal Oak, twp., married 1846. I don't know who were parents of Joseph Fenningsdorf, but have heard from a Bonnie Smith who was working on your Harold, Helen, William, and Russell, with sisters Hazel and Lillian. Someone told me there were Fenningsdorfs in Attica, Mi, which is south of Flint.
I have a bit more for the Wells family back to NY, and a lot for the Parkers. Joseph and Laura had 3 children that I know of, Willard, and Alma,b. 1906(who married Floyd Willians- brother of Elmer Williams, of Royal Oak). I do not have the other sisters name. Alma and Floyd had these ch:
Violet m. William Smith(Venoy, Madison Hts); Joseph H of Clawson; William R. of Jackson, Miss; Ernest W. of Groton, Mass, and Herbert(at Home); Wanetta m. Roger Nation Jr. 84 Lander, R.O.; Vera and Ralph, at home. (from Obituary info).Alma had 12 grandchildren, so there must be someone still in this area who has some info for their Fenningsdorf ancestors. Is any of this connecting to your info? I have no info on Margaret's background.
Found a Godfrey Fenning in Burke County, NC
on the 1850 census and Godfrey Fenning in
Mecklenburg Co. in the 1870 census. One of
Margaret Alfred's sons was named John
Godfrey Fisher (my grandfather) born in 1877.

Hi, My Grandmother's maiden name was fenning and she ha a half brother called Arthur who was in the police force at some stage.Unfortunately she is unable to recall any date although some of his siblings were called Bob(Robert),Ivy,Frank(killed in Singapore) and Alfred. She is unable to rem.another 2 names. They shared the same father Alfred Fenning b 1875 who married for a 2nd time to Lillian Nash nee.Harris who is my grandmothers mother.

My Great Grandfather was called Arthur born 1852 I think Belfast he married a lady with the surname Jefferson. They say she was descended from Thomas 3rd presedent usa. They had 8 children : Lilly,William,George (born1895 my GF),Jinny,Arthur,Jim,May and Sam.William George and Arthur married. Williams family live in Belfast. Georges family live in Doncaster England and Arthurs family live in Scotland.I would like to here if anyone knows of any links before 1852.

On my mother's side, there is a large number of Fennings. I believe that the family changed from "Fanning" about 1850.

The family lived in the village of Loughgall, County Armagh, Northern Ireland (Ulster) since about 1800.

I knew two great-aunts: Margaret "Maggie" Fenning, and Rose Donegan (nee Fenning), who lived in the village all their lives.
