I don't know how much info if any at alll that I can give you. I'm looking too. My father was Gary Ferdinand. He had a sister named Lisa, a sister named Florence and a brother named Jon. His mother's name is Shirley and his father's name was Samuel. His mother's maiden name is Cohen. He was born in St. Louis and that is the extent of my knowledge on the Ferdinand family.

Hi Resia, Did you see the information given that the name of Ferdinand was on the list of a ship that came in to New Orleans from Germany? The name could be German perhaps? Although I thought it was French. Marion

Ferdinand, John "Old Ferdy", Pvt Co G; mustered Oct 31, 1861; discharged Jun 29, 1865; born 1832 in Germany; died Dec 23, 1899; a farmer from Hanover, York County; 5' 5", blue eyes, brown hair, hair lip, "bannty-legged, an odd looking fellow"; claimed he was injured in the arm by a shell and definitely was captured at Carter's Woods; tried to steal food while a prisoner at Belle Isle got whacked for it; listed as a deserter but was in the hospital during the time accused; was homeless and out of work when he enlisted; may have lived in Philadelphia after the war

Michael is buried in Decatur co IN. I cannot
find what happened to Laura. David and Paul
seem to have lived and died in Marion Co.
