I'm looking for information on Abram Ferris B: 8/20/1786 Greenwich, Connecticut, D: 10/8/1857. He married Rhoda Wheeler B: 3/15/1879 Elizabethtown, Essex County, NJ. Then he married Francis Fisher B: About 1788 Greenwich, Connecticut. As far as I know, there was a son by one of the marriages. His name was Johnathon B: 1815 NJ or Connecticut, D: Between 1873-1885 Binghamton or Conklin, NY. Can anyone help me connect Johnathon with his parents? I have more information on Johnathon's descendants if anyone is interested.

He went to live with the Dabinett family at Camden N.S.W. and married their daughter Emma in 1877. Emma died in 1926 and Alexander in 1937 and both are buried in Tucki cemetery near Lismore N.S.W. they had 11 children.

Ferris Family from Ohio and Nebraska

My great great great grandfather, John Ferris was born in Ireland in 1785 (we've always heard from County Down, but have no evidence to support this) and moved to New Philadelphia in Tuscawaras County, Ohio sometime during the 1820's. His wife's name was Nancy Campbell. They had five children, William (1827-1866), Charles (my great great grandfather) (1829-1879), John Ferris (1831-), Sarah Jane (1834-1915) and George E. (1840-). Charles' son Joseph moved to Nebraska sometime in the Mid 1880's. He was married to Jennie Petersen (1863-) and they had two children: Frank (1888-) and Harry (my grandfather) (1892-1967). If anyone has any further information on John Ferris and Nancy Campbell from Ireland it would be greatly appreciated.

Looking for Levi Faris 1813-?

Trying to trace Levi Faris. Born about 1813-1820 to James Faris and probably Elizabeth Moody of Pencader Hundred, Newcastle County, Delaware. He is found in Philadelphia, PA in the 1850 census with his wife, Hannah, and daughter Martha Anne and is reported to be a shoemaker/cordwainer. In 1860 he is also found in Philadelphia with his wife, Anna (Hannah?), and children: Martha A. b. 1848, Margaret J, b. 1854, Laura b. 1857, Leo and George W. b. 1859. I found that George W. died 27 Nov 1861.
I cannot find any of these folks after the 1860 census.

Levi’s brother James remained in Philadelphia, his brother Joseph had already moved to Kentucky and I presume the rest of his siblings remained in Delaware.

Anyone with information about this family, please contact me.

Thanks

Lorraine
Reed Ferris and George Washington

I'm a direct decendant of Reed Ferris and Ann Tripp of Pauling, NY. My line follows through their son Morris to son Warren to son Zebulon to daughter Amelia Ruth Ferris who married Edward Mosher Darling, my great grandparents.
I'm interested in any information about this line. I'm also interested in information about whether Reed Ferris's home was used as George Washington's headquarters while in Pauling. I have a book The Compendium of American Genealogy First Families of America Vol. VII which states that it was. Several other places state it was the Reed house known latter as the Kirby House but Pauling's website states it is the Kane house and is now owned by the historical society. Anyone know anything about this? Thanks, Maria

Descendants of George Ferris/Ireland/England

We Ferris' from New Zealand go back to Ireland or thereabouts. I am tracing our family tree and as there are not a lot of our elders left to answer queries I am having to use the 'net. Any help would be appreciated.

George was sent to Australia (as a convict). He was later pardoned when returning to England. He married ? and two of his sons (? and my great grandfather Charles William Ferris) went to Australia and then New Zealand. From Charles W I can manage - prior to him though I have no idea.
I am looking for information about Catharine Ferris. Catharine was married, in Bathurst, in 1839, to a Stephen Blanchard. She had 10 children on Prince Edward Island. Her children were born in Miscouche and Tignish. In 1871, she is living in New York with 8 of her children.

The only clues I have to her family are an Ellen Ferris living in New York in the 1880 census and a Donald Ferris. Donald is listed as her son's John witness. John was baptized in Miscouche.

Ferris surname in Germany?

I am researching a Henry Ferris, my g-g-g grandfather who was born around 1832 in Hanover, Germany. He immigrated to NY and married a Mary A, from England.

Clearly, the Ferris name is Anglicized...any ideas what the original German could have been? Since I can't find any instance of immigration records, my next step is church records in Germany. I was thinking Ferisch or something close but have come up dry.

Any ideas?

Audrey FERRIS - ca 1928

Hi all! I have a Lost and Found on my website, where I post items that MAY be possible for people to link to their families. Since I've come across a FERRIS, I thought I'd post and try to find it a home.

The item is actually a trading card - the kind a person got with a fortune and their weight in the late 1920s and early 1930s. Audrey FERRIS, complete with photo, is the card subject. I know she was a silent movie actress and might have moved to "talkies". :-)

I AM trying to sell it, but only for the price I paid for it plus shipping - and if you don't want to buy it, you can still take a copy of it from the site, free. You can see it at http://annalovesbooks.com/lostfound33.html and the entire Lost and Found at http://annalovesbooks.com/genealogy.html

Thanks!
Anna

Ferriss (Irish Line)

My family is largely based in Ireland.
I can directly trace my acestors back to 1802 to a John Ferris(s) who was a member of the Royal Irish Costabulary (police) . He came from County Mayo, between the towns of Westport and Newport.Later he moved to Oughterard in County Galway where he is buried. We have records of Ferris renting land in the area close to Westport (Islandeady) going back to 1730 and a record of a George Ferris who received land as a transplanted person under the Act of Settlement and Explanation about 1665. We have no records of emigration but no doubt there were some who emigrated.

Any links or information would be appreciated.

Michael Ferriss

I am looking for information on my 4th great-grandfather, Warren Ferris. I have sources giving different information on his place of birth. I believe I have it narrowed down to Indiana or Detroit, Michigan. By 1860, Warren was in Parma, NY and lived there until his death in 1898. He married Sarah Whyland in 1862 and they had 2 daughters, Jennie and Mary Ilura.
If anyone has more information on Warren, I would like to share and compare notes.
Thank you,
Nancy

I bought an old picture for the frame. Written on the back of the picture is "Mrs. Grace Ferris's daughter and family. Riverside California" It is stamped A. Putnam Photographer.
The family is standing in front of their house (house number is 144). Mother, Father, 3 children (looks like 10-12 year old daughter and son, and younger child, maybe girl around 3 or 4) It appears father has a monkey on his shoulder. I've got no guess as the year, but it appears they have a concrete sidewalk. Older daughter is standing on her scooter. I'd love to get it to someone that it belongs to. E-mail me, and I can e-mail a scan to you to see if you recognize anyone.
Stan

I am looking for information pertaining to my 2-times-great grandfather, Charles W. Ferris, who was born in Lackport, IN in 1854 and died in Salem, MA, in 1920. His parents are William and Augustie (Welch) Ferris, while his wife was the former Catherine E. Eaton; she was born in Salem, MA, in 1860/61 and died in Salem, MA, in 1937. They had, according to a granduncle, six children: Mabel, Chester, Adda (my great-grandmother), Clifford, Mildred, and Virginia. Anyone with any information on the names I mentioned can email the information to me at my email on Yahoo, brianboru662002@yahoo.com, thanks!!!

Walter T.
Elijah Ferris 1800 in ON -wife Rosannah & dtrs: Hannah, Phebe, MaryAnn

Today while going thru reel MS 658 #227 - Township papers of King Twp, York Co. Ontario, Canada. I came across the following and found it interesting enough to write down. And then decided I should pass it on to someone who is actually researching them. I AM NOT. (there was more info - this is all I copied.)

Lot 25, Con 2. King Twp. In 1819 Rosannah Ferris applies for a grant of 200 acres and names her three daughters: Hannah, Phebe and Mary Ann. It also says Elijah Ferris paid the survey fees on this lot in 1800. And then: "father, Elijah Ferris of Queenston, cooper, left this province in the year 1804 and is suppose to be dead."

Hope this will be of help to someone. I don't know anymore.
Janice
