My Grandfather, Jose Fierro is from Silver City New Mexico. His parent's was Andres Fierro and Margrita Martinez both of them were from Rosales, Chihuahua MX. Looks like they were in ElPaso from 1889 to sometime in 1898 when they moved to Silver City, New Mexico. I have been in contact with Jaime Holquin who has been doing research on the Fierro line for years. He has provided me with information which helped outline part of my family tree back to the 1600's. Perhaps he might be able to help you as well. Here is his email contact address; jbholguin@q.com

Hope this helps!

My line of Fierro's is from Silver City, NM. The line originated in Santa Cruz de Rosales and Jimenez, Chihuahua. The surname Fierro was originally Hierro but over the years, the name was converted to Fierro. The Hierro line is a long one. It was started by Lope Del Hierro who was one of the earliest Spanish colonist of Chihuahua. His progeny was large but they also owned slaves both African and Indian. Many of their slaves were given the Hierro surname. The ancestors of my Fierros were described as "indian laborers" so I can only assume that they were owned by the Hierro but I do not know which tribe. Do u know which part of Mexico your Fierros come from?

Re: Fierros from Jimenez, Chihuahua

Yes, both of these names are familiar. My great-grandfather is Inez or Ynez Agrumero (agrumedo)Lopez born in 1834 in Chihuahua, Mexico. He died in La Mesa, New Mexico, USA. He was married to Juana Jimenez born 1845 also in Chihuahua, Mexico and died in Carlsbad, New Mexico, USA. I only know the name of one of his brothers, Angel. They had a son Wenceslao Jimenez Lopez born in 1881 in San Antonio, Texas who died in 9175 in Phoenix Arizona, this was my grandfather. He was married to Vicenta Arroyos Fierro whose family is also from Chihuahua,Mexico. So yes, Fierro, Jimenez and the state of Chihuhua Mexico appear in my family tree. You are welcome to view it.
Sincerely,

Lucy Valles Orta,
Las Vegas, Nevada

I'm not sure if we are related to the same Fierro family. My father was Benito Fierro, Jr., and grandmother was Martina Rey. I'm not sure if she married Benito Fierro. I know that she worked for Benito, who was a very successful business man in Chihuahua, Mexico. She did have children from him and they all took the Fierro name. My father died in 2001. They moved from El Paso to California and settled in Modesto, CA. I would appreciate any information if you know these names.

Hello sorry for the confusion. Since then I have found a lot of info the persons I had listed they were Felix Fierro using mother Rafaela Fierro surname their father was Aniceto Felix. so my grandmothers have their grandmothers last name.
I have not found a connection to the Ignacio and Petra. But I do have some Jose Ygnacio Fierro's in my tree from 1915,1916. I contacted Barbara on about Maria Jesus which I also have in my tree born in 1911 to Francisco Fierro and Laurencia De la O. She is the same age as the one she mentions in her story but not sure if it's the same person.

My great grandmother and grandfather are your great grandmother and grandfather (Gaspar Rios and Tiburcia Fierro) I have started my tree last weekend and can help you fill in alot of holes (way too many, trust me) One question for you...how did you know or get the information that Tiburcia had other children named Juan Merica and Leonor Munoz? She had these children (see my tree) Juan Nunez, Petra Nunez, Victoriana Nunez and then when she married Gaspar she had Senaida (your grandma), Santos, Lalo and Magdaleno (my grandpa). Thanks for your reply.
