NC File's

Just found this board and looks like there isn't a lot of recent activity. I am wondering if anyone out there knows anything about my ancestors, the File's in NC. I can trace my roots to Noah File who was born around 1830. He was in Rowan County in the 1850 census and some File's were in Cabarrus County (next to Rowan) in the 1790 census. Noah was my great great grandfather and served in the Confederate Army along with 3 other Rowan Co. File's. He married Camilla Lyerly Feb. 22 1855 in Rowan. My grandfather, Columbus Mock File was born in 1875 and married Mary Casper, a decendant of the Ellers who settled Rowan Co. in the mid 1700's. Any of you folks know anything about us? Some evidence suggests Noah's parents were Michael File and Sarah A. (Polly) Park who married Aug 9, 1822, but I have also seen reference to a Jacob File being his father and there was a Jacob File who was among the first councilmen at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, founded in Rowan in 1838. My dad still teaches Sunday School there at 82. I believe Michael's father was named John but this is all pretty scetchy.<br>Any help would be appreciated. It would be nice to find some long lost cousins out there.

Hi,<br>While shopping in our local estate store (Williamsburg, VA) and in some antique stores in central Pennsylvania, I found a number of photographs. If they had a name on the back or other identifying features, and if I had the money, I bought them. Now I'm trying to reunite them with their families or descendants.<br><br>I have one photograph of an older woman. There's no date, and I'm no expert, but I'd guess the photo is 1890s or 1900s. There are no photographers' marks. On the back is handwritten: "Grand Mother File Halifax, Pa R. F. D. # 1 Box 63 " and in a different handwriting, "Mrs. John File Oliver's mother."<br><br>If you think this is a relative, please email me!

My Grandfather, Wallace File Born Jan. 20th 1900 Died Nov. 1978. Lived in Bond County IL. In and around Greenville IL. Trying to fill in the gaps. My father Merle Wayne (Mutt)tells me his father had older step brothers George and Alfred? He recalled that his father was Fred File, but I have no listings for such a person anywhere. I've been told that all Bond Co. Files came from Henry Oliver File, but following his tree I come up short and with a big gap.

George Washington Kreer supposably fought in the revolutionary and lied about his age and used the alias "james file." I am having trouble with any records on George Kreer, so I have been looking for James file or his kin. I have George growing up in Philadelphia and in Alleghany Co., PA living with a family named Tatum at the time of his enlistment mostly through his person diary. He later married Ellie Warren. If any of this sounds familiar will the real James File please stand up. Seriously I would appreciate any help.

My grt-grt-grandmother Charlotte File was born c1823 in Ontario, Canada. She married David Horsburgh in the early 1840's in Ontario. I'm think her mother's name was Jane, and her father was John or Joseph. She lived near Mount Forest, Ont. in the 1840's 1850's, possibly in Michigan around 1857 to 1861, and apparently near Yeovil, Ont in 1862. I think she and her husband moved to the U.S. again in the 1860's. Does anyone know about this family? I would love to know for certain who her parents were, and what happened to her and her husband.
