Hello Stephen!
It indeed has been years since we've seen each other. As a matter of fact I do know where Hiram is buried. He is in the Cedar Hill Cemetery (Extension). Am pretty certain Nettie is buried there too.
How are you? How's the family? Say hi to them for me.

Carol

Hello,
I came across this at LDS family search and hopefully this will help you (but perhaps you already know of it?)
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NQ91-1S4

I suspected that Isabelle likely was born in New Brunswick Canada although I've yet to find her birth listed on the Provincial Archives website database. Her father is listed as W.T. and her mother as Mary J. Steeve. Most likely her mother's maiden name is Steeves, a very common surname in the Westmorland County area.
My surname is also Fillmore and its origins are also in the same area. All of the Fillmore's from the area are connected. I have some family history but have no listing for Isabelle.

Hi Leanne,
According the records I have, Daniel and Jane had the following children:
John William 1821-1893
Robert no data
Isaac 1832-1885
James S. 1833
Jane 1835
Mary Anne 1837

My connection is through John William who was my 4xgreat grandfather. Would be happy to share information I have on the Fillmores. Just because there is no Jemima listed as Daniel and Jane's daughter doesn't mean she wasn't... have come across other missing children. Somehow their names didn't get recorded. The only Jemima I have was back in the 1700s, definitely not her. I tried contacting through your e-mail address but it came back undeliverable. Obviously I copied it down wrong.

Hi Jenny,

I came upon this thread while researching my Fillmore ancestors. Looks like we're related, but not necessarily through the Fillmores (but likely there too).

Your David Wheaton had a sister named Morinda May Wheaton (1874-1965), who married Arthur Albert Hicks (1872-1951). They had a daughter, Bessie Abia Hicks (1892-1965), who was my maternal grandmother.

You can reach me at sionnan_eq@yahoo.com if you'd like to exchange info.

Leanne

I'd also love to receive what info you have on the Fillmores. You can reach me at sionnan_eq@yahoo.com

My 3xgreat grandmother was Jemima Fillmore (1817-1894), who married Israel Scott (1806-1883). I'm a descendant of their daughter Jane Scott, who married John Manning Hicks.

I'm trying to determine who Jemima's parents were. My working theory is that they were Daniel Fillmore and Jane Miller. They lived next door to each other in the 1851 census, and the ages fit, but I have nothing to substantiate it.

Do you have any info that would confirm or deny this?

I would be happy to share any info I have that would be helpful for you. To date, all of my research has been done online. I'm planning a research trip to Sackville next summer.

Cheers,

Leanne

There is a 5 year old boy at that time, name Heinrich, which is Henry in English. Perhaps he was known in the family by this name, not Charles? It is only one avenue to pursue. I will keep searching, though.

I believe that his wife's name was Rose (or Rosa) but I have had difficulty with her last name as well. (It comes up in some records as Stroble and others as Strahle; it is hard to tell which one is the right one. I have tried various spellings of Fillmore; I did notice that in some of the census papers that it was spelled as Filmore, so I have checked under both names. I think that I The unfortunate thing for me is that he passed away in the mid-70s and my grandmother passed in '98 so I don't have anyone to ask for more details.

Where did your great grandfather immigrate to in the US? Knowing this, you could try searching immigration records for the closest port 'if' he arrived by boat. There is the possibility, he arrived by train, too, if he was born in Canada. Where was your great grandfather born? I'm also a Fillmore and it's a name known in south east New Brunswick. If he happens to be from there, perhaps I can be of assistance.

Hi! If John and Jemima were the grandparents then who are his parents? Would that make John Fillmore and Leah Day his great great grandparents?

You could be right about the 13 kids. I might have missed counted. I do have birth cert for Bessie, Florana, Hiram Chase, Edith, Sarah Jane, Myra Jane and of course Nettie Mae. But missing the others if you could help me out.

Do you have a family tree of somesort plotted out?

I read the following and let me know if you have the same information (as yes, way to many johns!):

John Fillmore Jr (parents are John Fillmore and Leah Day)

John Fillmore (parents are Capt. John Fillmore and Mary Spillar)

Capt. John Fillmor (parents are John Fillmore the Mariner and Abigal Tilton)

The John Fillmore that married Mary Spillar, he re-married after she died (giving birth to their last son, Henry) He then married Dorcas Day. They had a child named Nathanial who married Hepzibah Wood. They had a child named Nathanial as well and he married Phobe Millard who are the parents of Millard Fillmore. Is that right?

Hi! William Rufus Fillmore was married to Elizabeth Marretta Estabrooks (daughter of Silas and Betsey (Terris) Estabrooks), she was born on December 4, 1850 and died May 4, 1926. Both are buried in Midgic Cemetery, Midgic, NB. I have other information if you are interested. According to the information I have, they had 13 children. perhaps there was a 14th? If that's the case, I don't have a name or gender however I will check on the provincial archives website and see what I can find out. I can provide all of these names (13), most dates of birth and many dates of death.
John William and Charlotte Sears are the parents of William Rufus. John William and Jemima Tingley were the grandparents of William Rufus. Easy enough to get confused with all the Johns in this family!!!! LOL Seems they had a liking for the names John William for sons;))
Did you know our Prime Minister is related to President Millard Fillmore, our relative too:) Yep Stephen Harper is related to cousin Millard:)
I don't know how much information on the Fillmore's you have...be glad to share what I have. If you are interested in exchanging e-mails, it would be easier to exchange information that way.
Have been researching the first John Fillmore born circa 1676 in supposedly Manchester for a number of years now, have found very very little about him...a mysterious character to be sure. Reading an article online this past week that made reference to Millard Fillmore stating his father was descended from a Scottish Presbyterian family. Hmmm, does this mean all of us have been researching in the wrong country all these years? Did find a reference to the name Filmur (pretty darn close to Fillmore) being of Gaelic origins, so am beginning to research in Scotland.

Their eldest son was Walter Irvon, 1920-1984, married Mona Gies (1927-1987) born at Congress Saskatchewan.
me b.1954-
my brother, born 1946
my sister born 1963 all of us were born at Saint John, NB
I guess this makes us first cousins, a few times removed;) (I'm a little iffy on the times removed part LOL) Where are you located?

A quick search here at RootsWeb provided the following:

Nancy W. Fillmore born around 1854, daughter of Luther Fillmore (born 29 July 1828 at Manilus Onondaga NY) and Susan Kimball (b. about 1828 NY ... whether that is the state or the city, no distinction is made. No luck with a search on John Porvel as very few middle names are included on line. Those that are there don't match. Will try to find him, though. Also did a search on Family Search LDS.

I have a Luther Fillmore born 14 January 1750 and died 9 November 1809 in my family tree, son of John Fillmore b. 18 March 1702 at Massachusetts and Dorcas Day, who was his second wife. His first wife Mary Spiller died in 1733 shortly after giving birth to their fourth child Henry. John Fillmore is the son of John Fillmore (the Mariner) and Abigail Tilton. Don't know if this information is any help or not. Suggest that you try locating a copy of So Soon Forgotten: Three Thousand Fillmore's by Charles Fillmore. If you cannot find a copy wherever you might be, let me know and I will look this up in the copy here in our library. By the way, I've checked through my family there are no people named Nancy. Now John's I have:) seems every other person in this family was named John. Unfortunately, none of the names in my tree have their middle names included.

It's been sometime since this was posted but I thought I would reply anyway. My name is Diana Lynn Satula [Nightingale](7/5/1978), I guess I would Abigail Fillmore and Charles Oulton's great (x6) granddaughter. This is the only information I have as of right now, and I'm not even sure the dates are correct with the exception of the last few: Abigail and Charles' daughter Abigail Oulton(1772-1839) married Daniel Tingley (1764-1843). They had a daughter Sarah Tingley (1805-1868) who married Asa Fillmore (1804-1891). Their son was Silas S Fillmore (1826-1871) who married Charlotte Sterling (1830-1878). Gilbert Fillmore (1866-1936) was their son and he married Jennie May Wheeler (1872-1936). They had a son Frederick Elmer Fillmore (1899-1975) who married Margaret May Brown (1897-1972). Their son was my grandfather, Elmer Charles Fillmore (11/25/1924-11/27/2003) who was married to Yvette Alice Roy (11/23/1923). Their daughter is Barbara Ann Nightingale (5/10/1958), my mother. My father is Larry Allen Nightingale (9/11/1953) and my brother is Mark Allen Nightingale (5/25/1983). Of course I have more info from Frederick and Margaret, for example all their kids names if your interested. My mother however, is an only child.

How are you related? If you'd like feel free to email me at dnightingale78@earthlink.net.

Hi I've yet to positively identify exactly who John Fillmore's parents were. Edward/Edwin and Elizabeth proved not a match as they were too early 1560's if I'm not mistaken. The only thing I've discovered is that he died later than the 1708-1711 which most posts I've seen give his dates of death as. Found a document online, as part of a virtual exhibit, which shows him as a captain of the ship Mary sailing into Boston harbour on 6 June 1712, with passengers from Topsham (England). Hope this is of some use.

Although we do not have her birth date, she died in 1968. She married Gilbert Nisewander, son of Agnus Evelyn Wheeler and Solomon Bender Nisewander. Isabelle gave birth to Dorothy Jean Nisewander.

If you think you may have any information AT ALL on Isabelle, please contact me at searcy.brenna@gmail.com or just reply to this thread. He married Maria Adaline Good and moved from Iowa to Nebraska, back to Iowa, to Oregon then to San Louis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties California. He and his wife had been seperated and she was living in Fellows, Kern County, California and on 24 Feb. 1919 William Henry Fillmore shot his wife and then shot himself. He is buried in the Midway Cemetery in Taft, Kern County, California

Hi Debbie, I'm wondering if your still doing research on the Fillmore's related to John the Mariner. I'm in that family and have some information, from Charles etc.

I just wanted to touch base and say hello!

Amanda Fillmore Martin
