Dear Goon:
I have started a search for my family ancestry. My maiden is is Fishburne. I was born in Charleston, South Carolina, granddaughter of Flander Fishburne, who was the husband of Katie Fishburne. I have no idea what my grandmothers maiden name was but she was originally was from St. Helenger (sp) Island in Beauford, S.C.
They lived on Johns Island, S.C during the 1920's. Any help or advice you can give me as to how I can proceed with my search for informanion on my grandparents would be most appreciated.

We have been having a few problems with email on our main home computer so that i dont bother to log on very often, as I use my laptop when i come home.

Hi Heather,
I would love any Fishburn info you have to add to my database - though I am interested particular in the Irish Fishbourne's as that is the way my grandmothers surname was spelt.
I have most of the Births, Marriages & Deaths for all Fishburn variants in England & Wales and an extract of the 1881 and 1901 Census Fishburn's etc so would be more than happy to look up any names that you want.

I am decendant of John William Yorke Fishbourne born county Wicklow (father Rev Robert Fishbourne) who was possibly half brother to Peter Henry Fishbourne...I would be interested to swap info - no doubt you have contacted Kaye Cole who is direct decendant of Peter Henry fishbourne side

I am now registered as the GOON (Guild of one name study) for the Fishburn (and variants - Fishburne, Fishbourne. Fishbourn, Fishbone etc).
If any one has any data that they would let me have, to add to my database, I would be very grateful.
The database currently contains some census data, GRO UK births & marriages to about 1975, but is continually being added to. I would be happy to answer any queries on this info.

fishbourne lived in shuril castle in the Quess county i.e loais.
about 1735 from there they moved to Carlow.fishbournes lived
in the shamrock square,now doyles of the shamrock a hardware store.William was a justice for the peace and lived
in tullow st in carlow about 1857,there was also a jewlers in Dublin st.Josph fishbourn lived in Ashfield Hall in the Quess county upto 1910 and the family plot is in graigcullen, in carlow. Hope this helps in some way.

I am descended from the Fishbournes of Carlow / Kildare/ Queens etc. I have traced them back to William who marr. Alice Moore in 1765 but have a few gaps. Woulkd like to be able to connect them with the Robert F., a watchmaker who d.1781 in Carlow. I too am descended from the Fishbournes of Co. Carlow and am involved in tracing the family history. I have amassed quite an amount of information on the greater fishbourne family but also suffer some gaps.

The vital peice of infomation i need is who were the parents of Peter Henry Fishbourne born 1821 (father possibly a Minister).
Peter married Margaret Merideth in Scots Church Carlow town.

Peter and family lived in Tullow Co. Carlow before moving to Dublin where Peter Died. Not long after his death Margaret and some of the children emigrated to Australia. I would also like to hear more about the Fishbournes in Kildare and especially Portarlington.
