My maiden name is Fisher. My father's family lived in Charlestown, Chester County, PA. The farm and house they lived in since 1893 is still in the family. I have reshearched the family from my Dad, Harvey J., through Harvey B., Elwood W., Abraham to Malachi Fisher (b. about 1760) and living in Philadelphia in the late 1700s. Does anyone have any information regarding this line. Malachi's father may also have been a Malachi and the family may have come from Wales or England.

My father was Robert Gordon Fisher, born in Indiana in 1924. He married my mother, Rose Marie Shehee in 1942, in Miami, Florida and they divorced in 1946. He was in the Navy
and had a sister who lived in Florida.

He moved back to Indiana. I know that he remarried and that tthey had at least one son born in 1963. I have been searching for some time, and that is all the information that I have. If anyone has anything more or different, I would appreciate knowing what you have.

hi just wanted to start here as maybe some one may have any info for me....i am sarah fisher and my grandad is 84 called frederick fisher, he was born 12/11/1927 in bulwell, nottingham, and his mums name was agnes georgina fisher she was not married and his birth cert says father unknown, he lived he thinks till about 4 years old with his mum and grandfather then was taken to a childrens home in lincoln, he remembers a dark haired woman visit him every week and birthday for couple years then it just stopped, so i am trying to trace any stories relatives that any one has. thanks

I am a descendent of Delilah Fisher through her son William Cox. Basilee/Delilah to William Malachi Cox to Littie Bell Cox Yarnold to Bessie Elizabeth Yarnold Schulze to Barbara Sue Schulze Adamas to myself.
My mother and I are planning a trip down to Texas to visit a couple of known graves (Basilee's in Brownwood, and some Schulze's in Chico). I have heard that Delilah is buried in Comanche, but noone in my family knows where.
Would you have any information on her burial?

It has also been rumored in my family that we have Indiana blood through Delilah. We were always told that it was Choctaw though. Nothing has been verified. I have also seen the Damron connection, but nothing substantiated.

My connection with the Fisher's of Stockport is that Carole and I share the same paternal Great Grandfather Edwin Fisher.
My Grandfather Samuel Fisher was the son of Edwin and his first wife Hannah Buffey

As far as I know there wasn't a family farm as such, from research and a conversation with my older Brother, landowners rented parts of their land to workers and income was shared, I believe this is where Gentlemen Farmers came in.

Are you a Fisher or have you married into the Family? Please get in touch and let me know more of your branch

By the way, I was born in Stockport, Cheshire. :)

I just wanted to get back to you about my great Uncle Samuel. He was the half brother to my grandfather Edwin Fisher who came to the US as a child. Samuel was the child of Hanna Fisher, who was my great grandfathers first wife. She died in child birth. My great grandmother Caroline Stringer, married Edwin Fisher and raised Hanna's children until my great grandfathers murder. She gave Hanna's childre, all except Sarah Alice Fisher (she had Down's Syndrome) to Uncle John, Edwin's brother. He had a farm in Stockport (I think). Caroline went into hiding doing domestic work until she could get on a boat. She remarried and changed her name to Helen Sweet when she reached the US. I hope this helps.

yes, there are still plenty of third and forth genaeration fishers living in millarville. The two most prominent are Allen Tosh-Kathlene's son...and Gene Blakely-Ugene's son..third generation from Joseph fisher..joe Jr. peter and Jody are living there as well..I to am looking for historical data regarding the father of william allen fisher born in 1919..out of wedlock..Joseph died in 1914..I am also looking to find out how Joseph died..not much history available after his death...thanks Bill Fisher Jr.

Hi, Marshall, James Jr. was born in Greenville area, SC. I think his wife, Dorcas Bowling, also was born there. Both born about 1795. There is another Fisher family in Jackson Co., NC. I think they are connected to ours since that family came from Lincoln Co., NC and our James Sr. stopped in Lincoln Co. and made a crop according to his Revolutionary War Pension before moving down to Greenville, I can't imagine one would just stop and make a crop unless family were already there to provide land and utensils and a horse or mule. I'm sorry, but I don't share my database with others. It has many families on it and there are more than 30,000 names in it. I am happy to answer questions and provide small bits of information but I also have sources as well as family lore in my notes, etc. I have seen so many duplicates where people have uploaded information to ancestry and it is the research of others. I hope you understand. Do you have a Robert Fisher Brown in Transylvania County? When did he arrive? Where did he live? I am pretty familiar with the Hogback, Catheys Creek, and Balsam Grove communities and the famliies in those areas. I'll be happy to dig around some and see if we have a connection. Are your Fishers from OHIO? My great grandfather, Perry Jackson Fisher (18 Sep 1833/4-1895) was orphaned before he was 2. He was born in Clermont County and I am seeking to learn who his parents were and who raised him. He named one of his sons Howard Ross, his oldest son was named William Perry. Hi, I did a bit of digging. I know at first this may not sound like your John R Fisher but I think much of this will apply to your John R Fisher. Names are spelt differently in different documents. I would suggest further research but this may give you good clues :)
I looked at Ancestry, FamilySearch, and Find a Grave. I don't know Arkansas Research but I would try the Counties where this information was found and also search films from the Family History Centers rentals from Utah.

My Family Tree DNA results/matches page tells me there are now 4 different Fisher surname DNA related matches to my Robert Fisher Brown Sr. line [brownsociety.org family DNA group #33]. One of these Fisher surname matches submitted a family tree which dates his earliest known male Fisher ancestor back only to the late 1800's, in Carbon Co., PA.

What are some of the allied family surnames associated with your Fishers, & the possible Native American who married James W. Fisher Jr.?

Hello, Marshall...no Browns or Pollards as far as I know. James Washington Fisher is our earliest known Fisher and we have been searching for his parents and siblings for about 20 years. All we know is that he came from Caroline Co., MD (based on his Rev. War Pension application). Sorry I can't help you on your search. I keep hoping someone knows something about our James.

I'm looking for George Washington Fisher. I believe he was born in Thundersley, Essex in England about 1851 and died in 1897. He was married to Julia Wiltshire (b. 1861). From what I remember from my grandfather, his son William George Fisher (b.1889), is that he was a "spanish" sailor since he had a dark complexion.

I too am researching the Fishers of Bradford on Avon. My ancestors on the 1841 census are William Fisher of Bearfield, an area where weavers and non conformists lived. He was married to Sarah nee Foreman and had a son William born about 1825. There are some Fishers buried at Countess of Huntingdon Chapel and a lot of Fishers in the town at that time. I can't quite see where a link might be to your family but if anything comes up I'll let you know

Thank you for you post. I am sorry it has taken years for me to post. My daughter was very ill from 2002 until 2009. She has had 12 brain surgeries in that time. So, everything kind of took a back seat to getting her healthy. She is doing better know and I am trying to play catch up in everything. I will check out your resources. Thanks for those. My Aunt Alice did get a chance to go to England and get pictures for my great grandfathers grave site before she passed. I am trying to pick up on where she left off with her research. Thanks again.

Hi. I am Edwin Fisher's granddaughter. He left England in 1910 with his mother Caroline Stringer Fisher and his half sister Alice Fisher. They left after my great grandfather died. There were older children and cousins that stayed in England. I have wondered if there is still family there. My great grandfather and grandfather were both born in Stockport.

I have no idea who your John R Fisher is but I ran a search on Ancestry with John R Fisher b. 1850 +/- 5 years.
John R Fisher, b. 1846 VA residing in Fluvanna, VA with
Father: John C Fisher; Mother Elizabeth Fisher Siblings Willaim , Henry, Taylor. There is also a Rebecca Maxwell in the household.

There are several Trees on Ancestry where parentage tends to be Samuel B Fisher and Matilda Dearing with spouse Elizabeth Lee.

When I search for John Fisher in 1850 with out the "R" -- which I would be surprised to see -- there are 13 who match up.
1860 there are 23 matches.

Where is the last solid piece of information that you have that points to John R Fisher.

I have a Frederick Fisher who reported in the 1850 census he'd been born in CT but I can only find him in PA as early as 1810. I have looked for this man's parents or siblings for over 15 years!! with absolutely no luck whatsoever! Keep dreaming ONE day I'll find someone who has a missing Fisher in their family...

His gravestone says he was born on Nov 7 1796 & died in Bradford County, PA in 1857 where he was buried. He married a Dolly Cole and their boys names were: John, George, James Marvin, Frederick Willis and Charles Orlando in order of the boys birth. Girls were Laura M., Helen Lemira, Mary Avaline, Isabella (Belle) in order of the girls birth. Their 1st child was Laura M and 1st son was John M. -

Taken From the Republican Compiler (Gettysburg, Pennsylvania) March 22, 1847 Destructive Fire at Towanda, Pa. On the 12th inst., a most destructive fire visited the town of Towanda, Bradford county. More than twenty buildings were laid waste, in the fairest and most business portions of the town. The fire originated in the roof of a building occupied as a store by N. N. Betts, and in less than two hours, the Court-house, the Claremont-house, ogether with about eighteen other buildings, were consumed by the insatiate element. The loss is estimated at from $60 to $80,000. (added note) many important court-house records had to have been lost in that fire! Any information will have to be found in personal records after the fire.....
