I have a tough one for you! My great grandfather was Kyle Fitz who was originally from Tennessee (we think). His mother is unknown at this time - the story says that she was ill and gave him to relatives to raise after her death. His father was also unknown. I suspect that the only way we are going to solve the mystery is through family records or letters or bible notations. Any help would be greatly appreciated....
Thanks,
Carole Sokol

Hi,

I am trying to locate the family of Florence FITZ who died 1968 Lynn, MA.
She was good friends with my late great aunt Lora Elta COLVIN HADLEY.
Lora died 9/22/1938 Charlton, MA. When Lora died in the Masonic Home in
Charlton, MA, Florence was the 'contact' person. When Lora died the only
family member alive was a nephew, her brother and sisters had all passed
on. No one alive in my family knew or knows this Florence. Maybe
Florence's children or grandchildren can help shed some light on this.

Florence B. FITZ
Date of birth: 16 Oct 1881
Date of death: Dec 1968
S.S. #: 033-34-1689
State of issuance: Massachusetts
Residence at death: Massachusetts
Zip code of last known residence: 01902 [this is Lynn, MA]

Many thanks,
Chris
Am doing family history on the Fitz's from Venice Village, Castalia, Ohio( Lima- Sandusky Rd). They had a dairy called Fitz Bros Dairy in 1920's and all lived on the farm site. They also had many orphans from Cleveland, Ohio that helped in the summer and some stayed and lived with them. John Fitz's father was Frank Lorenz Fitz and he married Eva Heiss. The farm is still there today but without the dairy so any and all information is gladly accepted and will share with anyone all that I have researched so far. Thank you... Some of the names I am working with are Arthur, Helen, James, John, Rose, Catherine, Veronica, Mary, Josephine, Herman Frey, Caecelia and Carl Koehenle, Mary Fitz and Frank Frey, Anthony and Euphrosina, and Lawrence Fitz and Sylvia Koehenle Gallagher, Muldoon.
Thank you again
Sam31hain

BOOK: Homespun Poems by Aunt Sue by Susan Little Fitz

I bought this small book of poems because I believe someone will treasure it.

"Susan Little Fitz, sixth of the eleven children of Andrew Giddings and Frances Matilda (Libby) Fitz, was born 6 Nov 1877 on the family farm at Southwest Bend, Durham, Maine, where she spent a happy, memorable childhood. She began teaching in Maine at the age of eighteen, later moving to Massachusetts, and eventually to Boston. She taught in that city for thirty-eight years, retiring on 1 Jan 1947. Now Blind, but still very alert and self-sufficient, she lives alone in an apartment that has been her moe for over fifty years, not far from the junior high school in which she ended her career teaching English and Spanish.

Most of her verses have been composed since she became blind, some in recent months. They are arranged here in roughly chronological order. A devoted friend, Miss Josephine Markward, has taken down the poems from her dictation, often typing several drafts. A niece, Miss Barbara Spofford, daughter of Sue's sister Tillie, has seen them through the press."

I am not related, but I would like to connect this book with a family member or family researcher. Please contact me if you have an interest in this book.

Kathy Wieland in St. Louis, MO
Kathy@familywesearch.com

Thank you Debbie,
No I haven’t seen a copy of the book “The Hawkesbury Doyle” but will obtain a copy.
I have very little information on Robert Fitz just that he was the grandfather of Ann Fitz Doyle; I would be very interested in any information
I have received a copy of the marriage certificate for William Williams 1st marriage to Ann Fitz Doyle, as I am sure you are aware they married in 1856 and she died in 1865.
William “Willie” remarried in1871 to Jane Russell
Do you have any information on Celia Stubbs; (Williams’s mother) I think here mother may have been Esther Spencer and her father Thomas Stubbs.
I have found a small piece of information on the web page of the society of Australian genealogy about “ship musters” Celia Stubbs left Sydney on the Sea Flower in 1820 she may have been leaving to go to India to meet & marry Richard Williams.
Esther Spencer appears to have has relationships and children with John Fitz & Thomas Stubbs and then married Joseph Bigge (or Biggs)
Do you know if William Williams and Ann Fitz Doyle had any living children?
Any information would be much appreciated. Thank you
So many questions, I hope you don’t mind helping
June
Do you have the book "The Hawkesbury Doyles"? It contains a lot of information on Andrew Doyle and his brother James who were convicted in Ireland (forgery) .
Do you have any information on Robert Fitz , Deputy Commissary to NSW 1806? I have quite a bit on his family.
I think Celia Stubbs may have already been related to the Doyle / Fitz family. Will check my notes. They seem to have had a penchant for marrying cousins.
Abernethy's, Mudgee. Annie d. 31.8.1884 at glengarvon, Tamworth. Andrew shown as of "Woodlands" ,Woolomon at time of Annie's death."
Andrew was the son of Edmund Doyle and Frances Smith. Edmund arrived in the colony on the Rolla in 1803 with his parents and family. His father was a convict who worked for Gov. King producing drawings . He had been convicted of forgery in Ireland or at least of having in his possession the apparatus for producing forged notes. Andrew's accomplice who was found not guilty was an army clothier Robert Fitzgerald. Robert Fitz was also connected to this trade??
Frances Smith was the daughter of free settlers who arrived with the McDougall family in 1798. There appear to have been many marriages between these families.
There are three children listed as descendants of Andrew Doyle and Annie Brackenrigg.

Richard Fitz/Fitts in VA/NC/TN/?

Seeking information on Richard Fitts/Fitz, b. 1810s in either Halifax Co., VA, or Person Co., NC; m. 1) 1839 in Person Co. to Mildred Hall, 2) circa 1850 in Guilford Co., NC, to Susan Pettiford. He was counted in Person Co., NC, in the 1840 census; in Halifax Co., VA, in the 1850 census; and in Guilford Co., NC, in his second wife's brother's household in the 1860 census. About 1867-68 the family moved to Hawkins Co., TN, and were counted there in the 1870 census. Widow Susan is still there in 1880, but I find no trace of the family in Hawkins after 1882. Known children: Eliza J. (b. c1863), Martha A. (b. c1866, m. 1882 to Wiley McCoy), and Richard F. (b. c1869).

Richard's sister was presumably Lucy Fitts/Fitz, b. c1828-30, who married Franklin Pettiford in Guilford Co., NC, circa 1850. Franklin & Lucy's family accompanied Richard & Susan Fitts to Hawkins and moved on from there to Pope Co., IL.

Any information greatly appreciated.

Henry Fitz and descendants

Hi - just thought I should jump in here. I haven't looked at the lists for a long time and here are all of your messages. I am a descendant of John and Elizabeth Dunn Fitz through their son, Henry, who married Jane Lindsey. John and Elizabeth would be my 4g grandparents. I'm looking for anyone in the same line . . . and I assume we all have the same general information on John and Elizabeth.

I did swap info with Max a while back and I'm willing to exchange with anyone interested.

Family Name "Newton"

Newton is a family name that has been passed through at least 3 generations. Newton M. Fitts b. 1828 (g Uncle), Newton Franklin Fitts b. 1869 (my grandfather) and Billy Newton Fitts (my brother). My family came from VA, GA to AL. We may have a connection somewhere. The original spelling of Fitts was Fitz. I believe my family came from England to James Island, VA. and Archers Hope, VA.
