Hello all! My name is Rosalinda. Robert Flesher, son of William Flesher was my grandfather. My mother remembered her...spoke of her. From what I understand she wasn't a good person. My grandfather told me that she killed his sister when she was an infant. Anyhow, I'm glad to see family on here. Please contact me if you wish. I can connect you with other family members who have more information on Lucinda. Lillulu1202@yahoo.com

Lucinda would have been my great great grandmother. My great grandmother was viola bright, her daughter. My grandmother was ethel bright. I am trying to establish a family tree as well. I understand grand mother viola bright had a sister named nora fletcher who has done all the research necessary to establish our lienage to the cherokee nation for benifits. She is asking $50.00 for the published book. How to get a hold of her? I do not know. Maybee the BIA has her address. I found uncle Dick's daughter's, grandmother viola's son, who lives in Pueblo, Colorado. Her name is Debbie. Several last names but I do not know how to get a hold of her. If you have any luck getting anywhere with this subject, please contact me at 719-536-9457.

Jerry C. Quintana

Suzie, Hi. Thanks. My mother and I have just started doing some family research, so yes, I have do have a lot of Cherokee history still to learn. I happen to be social scientist, however, and much of my professional research is in settings (mainly Africa) where having multiple wives is quite common. That possibility occured to me immediately re. Jackson, but I didn't want to mention iniditally so as not offend. Regards, Kelly

Hi, thanks for replying so quickly. Some of the family may know more about that side of the family than I do. You should know some of the Cherokee History that way you would understand more about your relatives. I am not being criticle, please don't think that. Way back in the old Cherokee Nation and even here in Indian Territory the men could have more than one wife although that was done away with in the mid 1800's I think. Anyway I don't know when he married the wives or when some of them died so I assume he may have had more than one at a time. It was illegal after a certain time, but how can a man say, "you are not my wife anymore just because the law said he could't". I have some documents that tell about Nellie and Lucinda. I will send you an email and we can decide what to do. I would like to meet you sometime. I live in Vian, OK.

Dear Suzie, Hi. I am thrilled to hear from you. Thank you for getting back to me. Yes, I am an ancestor of Jackson and Nellie through Lucinda. Lucinda married Robert Burns Flesher. One of Lucinda sons, Wm. Hiram Flesher, was my great grandfather. Can you tell me more about Jackson and Nellie if possible. Why did Jackson have 4 wives? Were there deaths and/divorces? Do you have any idea where Jack and/or Nellie are buried? Do you know anything about where Nellie came from? Any info about Lucinda would be very welcomed too. My email is khallman@popcouncil.org. THANK YOU. Maybe I could contact you at some point. As far as Jackson's birthdate I have not found any reference to it. He did come over the trail. Samuel's wife was Martha. Are you related to the Love's? I hope this helps.
Okay. Now we are getting somewhere! Maybe we can share some information? I know my mother-in-law, Iva Dreadfulwater, has a lot of information that she has given me. She will be really interested in any information you can provide us. I am not to the point of putting a lot of this together yet due to the amount of information that she has given me to research, but this is a great start! Thank You!!

I don't know the meaning of the name Tooka. I can check with someone though. Susie Fivekiller is my grandmother. Tooka was my dad's sister. Will you be so kind as to fill me in on your family. The Fivekiller name is not common here in Oklahoma. I am not very good with this message board either.

My ancestry goes back to the Fivekiller family in Eastern Cherokee Nation, Tennessee. In my research I found a Tooka Fivekiller and a Susie Fivekiller both buried in the Groves Cemetery, McIntosh Co. OK. The had been moved from Eufaula when the Lake was filled. I am trying to find the origin of the name Tooka since my maternal grandmother was named Tooka. Do you have any connection to the Tooka Fivekiller and/or meaning of the name Tooka. Thanks for any info you may have. Bob

I am a great, great granddaughter of Lucinda Fivekiller and am looking for more info on her. She married Robert B. Flesher around 1887. Their son Wm. H Flesher was my great grandfather. Both are on the Dawes Rolls. I have a note from Larry Flesher's geneology site saying she was orphaned at a young age and her aunt helped her sign up for the Dawes rolls. Lucinda's parents were supposed to be named Nellie Love and Jackson Fivekiller and apparently came over the the Trail as kids (born 1826 and 1820, respectively). Can you help me? khallman@popcouncil.org

O Si Yo! Polly Fivekiller is my GGG Grandmother. She came over the trail in 1839. She married Bryan Boynton. They only had one daughter that I know of, named Josephine Boynton. She married a Johnson, and there after was know as josephine Johnson. They had several children together, one named Lillie Etta Johnson, my great GM. (apparently he had a family with another woman, too) She married Absalom McDade Cobb. They were known as Birdie and Mack. They had several children including my Grandfather William McDade Cobb. Josephine lived in Tahlequah, then Skiatook then Nowata. The Cobb-Keyes cemetary is named after Mack, who also had a twin (the Cobb Boys). Josephine is burried in Nowata and so are Mack and Birdie. Birdie lived in Bartlesville for a time. Any information anyone has...please share with me. Contact me at Bealslu@law.unm.edu
WADO!
