His son John left for America in 1855, and his son John V., whom I am descended from, lived in Wisconsin. Thomas mentioned above had a wife named Bridget (Bridit, Brid). Also if anyone knows how and when Thomas came to America that would be helpful.

Anne Flannery--New Town Road--William Penn Pennsylvania

I am searching for relatives of Ann Flannery, who lived on the New Town Road in William Penn, Pennsylvania.
According to the 1900 census and Schuylkill County Tax Records my grandfather lived in the house adjoining Ann Flannery's home. My grandfathers name was Alex Ruff, but do not believe Ruff is the actual name. I also have many questions about the New Town Road of William Penn. I also believe my grandfather may have had been related to the Walacavages who had a small store a few houses away. Any information np matter how small may be helpful in my research of Alex Ruff. My e-mail address is guido603@hotmail.com.
Thank You
Jim Ruff

Flannery Research

I am researching my family history and cannot find any information on my great grandmother. Her name was
Mary Flannery and she emigrated from Ireland. I have been unable to locate any information as to the town in Ireland from which she emigrated. I believe she was born cir. 1874.
She married James Kelly of New York City cir. 1894. They had 2 children, James and Elizabeth. James was my grandfather. All I know, from what my mother told me ,is that Mary died in childbirth somewhere in NYC around 1905 giving birth to twins which also died. My grandfather was sent to live at Father Drumgoole's (an orphanage) and that his father moved someplace upstate and remarried. If anyone has any information I'd appreciate a helping hand. Thanks.

Flannerys of Ballymalone then NYC

Doing research on Flannerys from Ballaymalone

My Great Grandfather Michael Flannery b1879 d1932 immigrated to the US (New York) and lived in Manhattan. Married Catherine Conroy (might have been conury. b9/4/1877 d11/1969.

My grandparents told me that "Michael was from County Clare, the town of scariff but on the outskirts of the town called Ballaymalone" They visited Ireland in 1987 and went to Scariff and talked to an old couple who claimed to know the family but said "that whomever had been living in the fathers house had been gone for years" The couple gave my grandparents directions to the house/land quote from grandma "so we went down a road made a left and came to what was almost a forest. The entrance into Ballaymalone was fenced off but there was a sign saying Ballaymalone woods. That was as far as we got"

His siblings were
Patrick
Hugh (immigrated to NY)
James
Katie
Mary (might have went to Australia)

I don't know if Patrick, James or Katie left Ireland.

I checked the results of the 1901 census online and found 1 Flannery Family in Ballymalone (spelled different then how my grandparents spell it) but the names of the siblings don't match (but there is a Hugh which seems to be a very unusual name).

I would appreciate any info on this area of Ireland, the family... I can't seem to find any info on "Ballaymalone" so any insight anyone can provide would be appreciated.

James
I'm looking for information about Richard Flannery. I'm not sure if this spelling for the last name is correct. He was married to a woman named Laura Betto, again, not sure of the spelling for her maiden name. He was an ironworker and made iron gates in Boston. There are still iron gates in Boston with his initials on them. They had three children that I know of Ethel, Betty, & Jim. (don't know if Jim is short for anything or if that was his name.)

Cordelia Flannery, James Flannery, Fannie Burrington

I am looking for information on a James Flannery and Fannie Burrington. They were married around 1890 in Green County, Wisconsin and one daughter Cordelia in 1895. Something happened to her parents James and Fannie before 1900, because in 1900 Cordelia was age 5 living with her grandparents (my great great grandparents Reuben and Cordelia Burrington). Reuben Burrington died in 1905 and Cordelia grandmother died in 1908 and I have not been able to find where she went to live after they died. Could not find Cordelia in 1910 or 1920 census. The only Fannie Burrington Flannery I have found is on 1910, 1920 and 1920 census, she was in a hospital for the insane in Monroe Wisconsin 1910-1930. Any information on this would be appreciated. James Flannery was son of a James Flannery from Green County Wisconsin, shown on 1870 census.

FLANNERY, Dennis (or Patrick), Catherine, Bridget, William, John, Michael, MaryAnn, Catherine and Ellen, of Oswego, N,Y.

I am looking for information on this family or descendants of this family. Catherine (the mother) arrived in New York on October 28, 1851 on the Forest Queen with daughter Bridget, 6 yr. old and 2 sons, William, 4 yr. old and John, who was a newborn, but is listed as being born in Ireland and not aboard the ship during crossing. Bridget is my great great grandmother and up until now I could find no siblings. In the 1860 census, Bridget is 16 yr. old and Dennis is listed as the head of household. On Bridget's death certificate, her father is listed as Patrick Flannery. So I am wondering if his name was possibly Dennis Patrick Flannery. Bridget married soon after the 1860 census was taken, a man by the name of Augustav (also called August or Gustav, Schaffer. They settled in St. Louis, Missouri, and had 4 children of their own. 5 years ago, I did not even know Bridget's name, but she has become very important to me. The things I have found out about the way she lived her life and the hardships she endured have made her special in my eyes. I want to know about her early years and about her parents and siblings. If you have any information about any of these people, please respond. Thank you for listening.

Pat Wehr

Flannery family in New Castle, PA

I have traced my husband's family back to New Castle, PA with Peter Flannery (born about 1847) and his wife Suwanda? (born about 1846) - but I can't seem to find his parents or brothers/sisters. It is stated in the 1880 Census that his parents were both born in Ireland. Peter and Suwanda raised the following children: T.B. Flannery (b. 1867), Charles F. Flannery (b.1875), John Flannery (b. 1878), Harry Winfield Scott Flannery (11 Sep 1881), and two twin girls with no names in the 1880 Census. The twins were actually named Alley and Olley and it is believed they moved to Youngstown, OH later in life.

My husband's great grandfather was Harry (sometimes called Henry) Winfield Scott Flannery.

If anyone has ANY information on this Peter Flannery and/or his family, please contact me.
I'm looking for relatives of Samuel Flannery, who was baptized in Clonfert, Co. Galway, IRE in 1829. Sam immigrated to Ontario, Canada & then to Michigan. I have an old, unidentified family photo of a young man taken in Davenport, Iowa and wondered if it could be a photo of a Flannery relative of Sam's that possibly settled in Iowa. Please contact me at pmflannery@hotmail.com if you think you can make an identification.
I have an old family photo of my father with my grandparents, and my father's brother's and sisters when they were children. It is probably taken around 1916 or there about.
My grandfather was Wm.E Flannery, he used one "n" but I was always told that wasn't the orginal spelling and my father always used 2 n's as I have also. They were orginally from the Berea, Ky. area but did eventually move to Arkansas where my father attended college for awhile. I would love to know more about our family history. I have taken back my maiden name of Flannery and as far as I know I am the only one left of our immediate family line. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Cookieski1@aol.com

My grandfather John Thomas Flannry was born in Staffordshire, England in 1851. The family came to the USA in the 1870s and settled first in Blossburg, PA before moving to LaSalle, IL. where Thomas and Anne are both buried. Does this make a connection with anyone? I'm particularly interested in where Thomas was born, parents'and siblings for Thomas and Anne.

Also, if you have any ideas on how to figure out where they came from in Ireland, I'd appreciate that also.
James Flanery, m. 1861 Margaret McDowell/McDole/McDowall in Paisley

Their son John, b.1865 in Paisley, immigrates to the US and marries Rebecca Potts, also of Scotland. I'm having difficulty finding any information on John. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
Bracken County, Kentucky FLannerys (Galway)

I'm looking for information on Patrick and Brigid (Tracy) Flannery. Patrick was born in County Galway Ireland (1828-1835). Earliest record I have is that they were married in Cincinnati, OH. at St. Thomas' Church on Oct. 12, 1856. First child (Michael) was born in Sept. 1857 in Cincinnati. Other 7 children were born in Bracken County, Ky. They were (Julia, John, Martin, Mary, William, Patrick, and Thomas). First census shows them present in Ky. in 1860. I have a report that Patrick had a sister named Julia who settled in Cinti. and married a man named McCloud. Brigid Tracy Flannery, Patrick's wife had one sister in the states who lived in Minnesota. I am interested in finding the link between our Patrick and his roots in Ireland.

Is anyone researching Martin and Bridgett Flannery from Galway? This is new information for me. I am descended from their son, Peter Flannery/Flanery who left Galway on May 8, 1837 and arrived in New York City, June 1837. His birth was listed as being June 1816 although throughout census and other records he could have been born anytime between 1810-1816. He settled in Allen and Noble Co, IN. I would like to find anyone who might have a connection to Martin and Bridgett Ryan Flannery. davidson@oceana.net or onefinemother@hotmail.com

Hi all! I am still searching for information about my grandparents. My grandfather's name was Winkfield Flannery. He passed away on March 3, 1950 at the age of 29. He lived in Fayette county, and was originally from Athens, KY. Winkfield married my grandmother, Loretta Hale, and was disowned by his family for doing so. Wink died when my father was 10 months old, and he was subsequently placed in an orphanage. Suffice it to say other than names, I don't have a lot to go on. Any information anyone has would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Erin

I'm searching for parents and siblings of Michael Flannery, born about 1883 in New York (probably NYC). He married Emma Murray and settled in downtown Brooklyn, including Furman Street. Their children were: Emma (also known as Elizabeth) Flannery, Anna (Annette) Flannery, James Flannery, John Flannery, and Veronica Flannery. The Flannery boys both died young and never married. Emma/Elizabeth married Thomas Reilly; Anna married Walter Brierton & died in 1932 in childbirth; and Veronica married Eddie Paragallo. Any of these names ring a bell?

FLANNERY:Machias, ME and Virginia City, NV

Seeking information re family of Edward FLANNERY, b. IRE in 1819 and Mary E. CROWLEY, b. IRE in 1829. Edward and Mary were settled in Machias, Maine by 1848. Mary was the daughter of John CROWLEY and Julia FOLEY. Their children were: Ellen, Malachi, Thomas, Owen, James, Edward, Maria, Julia, John, and Francis (Frank). The first five went to Virginia City, NV between 1865-75. James' daughter, Evelyn Blanche, was born in NV in 1885, but was sent back to Machias to be raised by her aunts. She married Joseph FORD from Pittsfield, MA between 1905-1908. Frank settled in Winterport, ME. Questions I am pursuing and would appreciate any help with:
1) Where in Ireland did the Flannerys, Crowleys and Foleys live? Are there any descendants still there?
2) In what year, on what ship(s) did Edward Flannery and Mary Crowley emigrate?
3) Where were Edward Flannery and Mary Crowley married? In Ireland or Maine?
4) Are there any descendants of Frank Flannery in the Winterport, ME area?

Co Mayo -> Baltimore MD -> WI; James, Peter, Patrick FLANNERY

I’ve just discovered TWO different FLANNERYs who had children in Baltimore, Maryland (MD) in the period 1853-1866 and went on to different parts of Wisconsin. I’m pretty sure they are Co Mayo Flannerys, from naming patterns.

The two lines I have are:

- James FLANNERY b abt 1823-1834 Ireland; m Ann unk b abt 1830 Ireland; first and second children (Ellen and Patrick) baptized in Baltimore in 1853 and 1855; third and subsequent children (Kate, Ann, James, Martin and Edward) born in Wisconsin. Living in Adams twp, Green Co., WI in 1870 census; possibly again in 1880 but with mismatched names.

- Peter FLANNERY b abt 1839-1847 likely Co Mayo m. Mary CONROY b abt 1848 England in Baltimore MD; first child (John Edward) baptized in Baltimore in 1866; next child, Bridget, baptized in Hudson twp, St. Croix Co., WI in 1869. Found with large family (including Katherine, Margaret, Helen Grace, Alice Virginia) in censuses of 1870 and 1880 for this town.

I also find references to an even earlier settler, Patrick FLANNERY, with wife Johanna and daughters Johanna, Julia and Emma, in this same small county, in nearby Hammond twp.

I’m very curious to determine if one FLANNERY followed the other and/or what the lure was from urban, temperate Baltimore to the frigid wilderness of Wisconsin where lumbering, mining, railroading or farming were the key activities.

Anyone working on these lines?
