I am in an attempt to explain the origin of Spanish last names. The Spanish name Florez as I have read originates from the Latin name Florus or FLORVS. I am trying to locate my great grandmothers family. The only information I have is her name from my grandmothers Social security application, which is Sabina Florez. I don't have any dates. Her fathers name was Franciso Mendez. I am not sure if they were married. My grand mother was born in Cheyenne Wy in 1903. No one knows of any siblings. I did find a Franciso Mendez in the 1920 census, but his wife is Sisaria, not sure of the spelling. I am in the process of ordering her birth ceritificate. If anyone knows of any contacts in Cheyenne, please let me know. Thank you.

I hope someone out there can help me I have been looking for my family for a long time and can't find them. My Grandfather was Manuel (Marcos) Flores (changed to Florez) and my Grandmother was Manuela Gomez. They were both born in Mexico, 1900 and 1906, respectively. My Grandfathers Mom and Dad I think were Savino Flores and Sava Banderas and my Grandmothers parents (I think) were Deimitrius Gomez and Maria Ines Delatorre. My Grandmother siblings that I know about are Joe, Gabriel and Marie Gomez.
I would appreciate any help in finding my relatives.

I am looking for the birth parents of my mother Alicia Gloria Florez. She was born in El Paso, TX on September 18, 1942. She was put up for adoption, that was never finalized, she lived with the Rodreguiz family in El Paso until she met my father and they got married in 1968 and he moved her to Tennessee. Her birth certificate says that Esther Padella Florez was her mother and that Paulo Florez was her father, and that she was 1 of 5 children born to her mother. My mother was taken away from my brother and I in 1998 by brain cancer and we would like to know more about our family history. looking for my Dads birth parents.Quiros is their last name.They were entertainers in the late 1930's in L.A.,Calif. My dad ,Jerry L.Florez, was born in Hollywood,April 13,1938 and was givin'up for adoption. He lived till the age of 39,when cancer took him away from his family and me in 1977, 1 week after I graduated from high school.My Dad married my mother,Juanita, in 1957,had 4 children in sucessive years,June 1958-Elizabeth,May 1959-Jerry(me),May 1960-Steve and April 1961-Mary.We've all lived in Riverside,Calif. all our lives.I know they know that were out here!!!
