Hi
I know this is an old post, but HOLY COW! Never seen so many names!

My grandfather Lawrence Gothard married Tillie Mae Reynolds. He was from Bridgeport.. born circa 1894. Died circa 1936. Worked on the railroad. None of those names ring a bell.

I'm wondering if these families are related. They immigrated from Ireland at about the same time. I'm searching for James Forsythe and Mary Cassel, both probably born in Ireland before 1820. They had at least 4 children born in Canada: Margaret 1841 (married Diffan), William 1841 (born Kingston) Robert (1847) and Mary 1852. William married Elizabeth Hannah Scott in Toronto in 1864. All 4 siblings immigrated to first Wisconsin than to Minneapolis, Minnesota.

I've not been able to discover anything about their parents, but the siblings were very close: Robert and William buried side by side, and throughout their lives these siblings lived close and often together. Both Robert and William were Freemasons. William was initially a blacksmith.

Have you found anything about these Forsythes in your search?

Thanks! Nancy Forsythe
Jacket and tie and in mens shoes similiar to saddle shoes.

1 closeup with shirt and wild ti.e

1 of him doing a handstand. You can see an old fashioned building with a dome and a building with a sign about "bathers."

I would be happy to mail these photos to any family member.

James Newton Forsythe was my husband's great grandfather. Harrison and son, Jefferson (Newton's brother), are buried in Logan County Ohio, in Mac-O-Chee cemetery. Also their sister, Sarah Ann Boteler. Most of Harrison's other children are buried in West Liberty, Ohio. Henry H Forsythe, son of James Newton, was called "Harry" and is father of Elmer who is father of Herschel Eugene who was my husband. He passed away in 2006. I now live in Ohio and am working on verifying the various vital information on his line. I don't know of an Thompsons, but if I find something, I will certainly post it.

Harrison Forsythe is my husband's ancestor through his son James Newton. Harrison and Jefferson Forsythe are both buried in Mac-O-Chee cemetery in Logan County Ohio. Robert, Francis and Henry Harrison are buried in Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty, Ohio. Sarah Ann(e) married Thomas Boteler and is buried near or with Harrison. Her name is on his tombstone, along with Celia's. It says she died in Virginia (Fauqier county, I think it says). I haven't been to the cemeteries in months, but i live nearby and can do lookups and take photos. In spite of my ID name, I really live in Ohio.

I'm a Forsythe directly from a line coming from Lisburn, Antrim. My father's people came, I believe, from Scotland to N. Ireland some centuries ago. Some of the family stayed, a branch went to England and are still there, others to the US. We came to Canada only in 1981.

We also have Hamiltons in the family on my paternal grandmother's side.

I've just stated researching my family line, but my grandfather, James Maxwell Forsythe, prepared a family tree going back to about 1750 which has just passed to me. I'd be happy to assist any Ireland / England / Canada / US Forsythe's looking for info.

Are you a member of Clan Forsyth Society USA. If not I encourage you to check out our website and consider a membership. Many of our members are reseaching their Forsyth heritiage and might be able to help you.

Why do you think there may be a connection?

This is not my family.
Guilty as charged! Grandfather John Ben and my Dad is Del. I have an Uncle Johnny as well but it isn't the same one obviously (LOL). I too have found a lot of information, do you have any info on the "Adams" that married William in 1809? I went to the NC sites today and found that her actual name was Benjamina Adams and then they have written an error above the name. After that ran into so many brick walls.

Forsythe Family, Carleton County, New Brunswick, Canada

Are there any other researchers who are following the Forsythes who immigrated to New Brunswick in 1833 from Ireland (very possibly, Armagh County).

As far as Canada is concerned, the progenitor is William Forsythe, born about 1798 in Ireland; his death occurred before 1871 (and after 1861) as he is not showing on the 1871 Canada Census. He and his wife, Elizabeth Stewart (1789-1870) had 4 children, that I know of:
1. Ralph Forsythe (1828-1908)
2. Ellen Forsythe (1833-1904)
3. Frances Forsythe (1834-n/a)[this one is questionable]
4. William Forsythe (1837-1915)

That William and Elizabeth were born in Ireland is also questionable yet New Brunswick archive records state that they were. Both names origins are Scottish.

If anyone has any information on this Forsythe family, please send a note back or write to me directly at verdun1950@rogers.com.

Many thanks,
Heather

Hi, I am the new Clan Forsyth USA genealogist and I am going though the great collection of files sent to me by the previous genealogist, Eddie Forsyth. Among these files I found a will probated May 1819 in Chester County, SC for Jane Forsyth. The will mentions Adams and Forsythe's. So far I have not connected this person with any Forsyth/e line. Does anyone think this may be their ancestor? If so please reply.

Hello Patty,

Long time no mail. Moved recently and was wondering if you still had photos of some of the family members. Cousin Jerry just passed about a year ago. Would really like to get the ball moving once again. Have been sorting through some files from the library that was sent to me awhile back.
Hope this email finds you well and happy.
Kyle

I wish I could help you. Unfortunately I don't know enough about my Ohio FORSYTH line yet. What little I do know so far doesn't include a LAVINA or ALLEN but I do think you have some logical conclusions. Good luck & I will keep you in mind if I run into something.
