I posted a bio that might be of interest to those that are researching the Forth's in Wayne County, IL. My posting is from a history of Xenia, IL. I hope that some connections are made from it. I am not sure if I am connected to it or not. BSW

PS I will attach the post below incase you cannot find it in the postings.

FORTH Family
“There is another prolific people who live further south in the vicinity of Johnsonville, in this county. They are the Forth's …
R. T. Forth is now living with third wife and has twenty six children the mothers being his first two wives, one of whom had eight and by another eighteen children. The first who was Mary Warren, and the second Amanda Flynn and a year ago he married Annie Hill, a buxom lass of twenty-three years. His youngest son is a lad 7 years old. R. T. Forth is now 73 years old.

William A. Forth or "Buck" Forth as he is familiarly called is a brother of R. T. Forth. He enjoys the distinction of having been married five times, but has had only four wives. He separated from his first, after which he successively married two other women, both he outlived. He then returned to his first love and remarried her, and upon her death, he for the fifth time married and is now living with his fourth wife. He is 71 years old and is the father of twenty-three children.

There is still another brother, John Forth who is says to have obeyed the divine injunction to increase and multiply. He is residing with his third wife, is 75 years old, and is even with his brother "Buck" in the number of children having twenty-three boys and girls born to him. It will be seen that the aggregate number of children of the three brothers foots up seventy-two children. The Forth’s do well as farmers and get a good living from tilling the soil. It is said that when R. T. Forth married his young wife a year ago he settled $10,000.00 on her.”
[“Xenia's History 1834-1934,” page 42 - Submitted by a Friend of Free Genealogy, thanks!]
http://genealogytrails.com/ill/wayne/bios1.html#FORTH

Hi
I see your query was sometime ago but I wonder if this is
Thomas Forth bap. 20 Sep 1795 and Ann Cope of Welney 22 Mar 1793? They Married at Crowland 16 Oct 1816.
As far as I know there were 10 children to this Marriage.
Their daughter Elizabeth married John Pickering.
Thomas and Ann were my Maternal 3x Grandparents.
I believe that Thomas Forths parents were Thomas Forth 8 Jul 1770 and Mary Brown 1774.

I have been searching for you! :) My grandmother was Ed's next younger sister, Edna Forth Prosser. I have Shirley's book and also the Ouderkirk Family Genealogy Vol II. I have spent the last several years researching my immediate line and the last several months in particular trying to research each of the individual Forth lines (Fred Forth line is gigantic and is taking me a long time to finish!). The data I have on Ed is limited to the names of his three daughters (and I assume you are Barbara.) I was completely at a loss as to how I would find you all as the last data I have is from California.

If you would be so kind as to contact me at my regular email address leanne52@cogeco.ca, I'd like to open a dialogue and share what I have learned and get your information from you! I live in Bracebridge, Ontario and was born in Parry Sound so have access to data you may wish to have. There were many errors in Shirley's book which I have been trying to correct over the years and several mysteries - one of which is the two Forth families here in town which I am trying to connect.

I am so looking forward to hearing from you and updating your line with current information.

Sincerely,
Leanne

My Grandfather was Henry Forth and my Grandmother was Lucy Scott. They lived on Waubeck St. in Parry Sound. Among their many children, was my Father, Edward Lawrence B Feb 14
1903 and May 8, 1966. My cousin, Shirley Forth researched and wrote a book tracing our family history back to a Dutch cooper named Ouderkirk who emigrated to New York in the 1660's

So interesting to try and track the ancesters down though.
Thanks for your reply and good luck with the hunt.
Arlene Anderson

Forths of Crowland, Lincolnshire

My husband's family came from the little village of Crowland in Lincolnshire, where there have been Forth family members for generations. His great grandmother was Druscilla Forth (b1857), who married Frederick George Newton Andrew (originally from Crowland too). Her parents were Thomas Forth and Ann, and his parents were William Forth and Mary.

Would love to add some more information or links to other families, especially going back more generations.

Forth fr. Germany to Muskoka via New York

Am looking for information to try to put two families of Forths together.

Henry Ernest Forth b. 4 Aug 1862 Germany d. 31 Oct 1942 Parry Sound, ON - mother was Frederica - immigrated from Germany to the US (Buffalo, New York) and then to Muskoka where he married Lucy Ellen Scott in 1888.

Charles Forth b. 16 Jan 1853 Germany d. Jun 1937 - immigrated to Canada in 1882 - married Camilla Graham b. 17 Nov 1858 in Scotland. Their first child was born in 1881 in the USA so they immigrated to Canada from the USA in 1882.

These two gentlemen named some of their sons almost identical names (Frederick Charles, William James, Henry Ernest, John) so I am wondering if they were family names and if that might make these two Forths brothers. Please contact me if you have any information pertaining to either of these two families. Thanks in advance!

John and Nancy Forth of Cabell County, W. Virginia

As I was reading through the old Cabell County Marriage Book, I found an entry on page 35 listing, among others, the marriage of "John Fourth" and "Nancy Jordan" in 1826, signed by (Rev) Joseph Barrett.

I notice that this marriage is not included in the indexes of Cabell County marriages, possibly because the writing on the page is so light as to be almost unreadable. Since this record may have been missed by some researchers, I'm providing it in this message.

John and Nancy Forth can be found in the 1850 and 1860 censuses of Cabell County, with the latter household including an Abigail Jordan, age 35, and George Jordan, age 8. I don't have any information on which branch of Jordans Nancy is related to.

Jerry Jordan
Queenstown, MD

Thanks for replying so promptly Jennifer, I wish I was as quick. I think you are correct about Henry's mother being Julia Cuthbertson rather than Ellen. It looks like Henry was called Harry as a child then reverted back to Henry as an adult. That's what I've found in census returns.

So Henry's father was William (b 1841 Ripon) son of George (b 1805 Ripon) son of George (b 1781 Wheldrake).

George (b 1805 Ripon) married Mary Ann Skipsey (b 1809 Ripon)

George (b 1781 Wheldrake) married Mary (b 1786).

Are these your ancestors too?

Thanks again.

I'm sorry. There was a typo. As I was re-reading my message, I realized that as I was saying where Robert and Mary were born (Julia's parents) I inadvertantly listed Julia as being born in Langton, I meant to say Mary, her mother....

I've looked it up and the only Cuthbertsons I've found is a Julia Cuthbertson that married William Forth, son of George Forth and MaryAnn Skipsey. Julia and William had three children that I know of: Harry, born about 1865, and Nellie born about 1868, and Minnie born about 1870. Julia and William were married 26 Apr 1862 in Ripon. Julia is the daughter of Robert Cuthbertson and Mary. Robert born in Midlotian, Edinburg, Scotland, and Julia born in Langton, Yorkshire, England. Among Julia's siblings are the following: Mary Ann, Isabella, Emma, Henry, and Laura. I am sure there is a connection between your Henry and his mother Ellen. It's just too close to not be. I'll do some digging around.....
