My great grandmother, Bessie E Rooks,b: 1891 in Ga.,married Samuel M Fowler, b: 1891 in Ga. They lived in Jeffersonville, Ga. & Macon, Ga. They had 2 children: Charles Matthew, b: abt 1913-Ga. & Carrie Elizabeth, b: 1915-Ga. I found that my grandmother was the widow of S M Fowler in 1918. I think I might have found his family & they are all buried in Danville, Ga. Although there was a son named Sam, I cannot find when & where he died. I am trying to find out when & where he died. I am also trying to find out when & where they got married.

Your post is so very interesting. My husbands Fowler family lived in Missouri at the 1900 census (Ernest T Fowler) Ernest T's father was Joe Fowler of Union Co, IL 1900 census. I am having a hard time finding where they lived before moving to the mid-west. You said MD. I will try to look into that state.
Have you seen the names Joe (Joseph) and Ernest?

Thanks,
B

Thank you so much for all the data on Thomas and Betty. I did look them up in the 1790 Census and found Thomas, Betty and two children under 16. One would be Stephen, not sure who the other would be. Is it possible there was another baby who died before Stephen was born. Also, there are a lot of Sherwoods with an e none with an a. Williamstown is right on the VT/MA border so its much closer to Rutland, VT than Poughkeepsie, NY. Also, Barre, VT is very close to Rutland so I think your data is more plausable. Are you interested in any material I have on Zuriel and Elizabeth? They had 8 children, 3 are buried at Little Sandusky Cemetery, the remainder scattered from Iowa to South Dakota. Its amazing how given names repeat from generation to generation. It would appear Stephen came from Betty's family possibly her father. There were a lot of Stephen's, Thomas', Zuriel's and David's in my line.
I couldn't quite figure out why Zuriel and Leefe purchased land together after Stephen died. I believe the land purchase was in 1849. Then about 1853 Zuriel and family moved to Johnson, Co. Iowa.
I began my family research in 1990 but after a few years developed other irons in the fire so genealogy took a back seat until I retired a year ago and have the time for research. Do you haveany afdditional data from the early days. Were any of our ancestors involved in wars? Do you know their reeligeous affilliation, occupation, nationality, when they arrived in America, ship name, port of entry etc. Let me know if there is anything I can send you on family members. Oh, your family tree is quite impressive too. Thanks for your time and assistance.
Tom Fowler

Fowler Family of Utah

I'm researching my grandmother's family line. My grandmother was Nellie A Fowler (Dec 7, 1928 - Nov 13, 1999) born in Myton, Utah. What I am researching mostly is Native American ties in my family tree. My grandmother was born and lived for some time on the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation. I remember my grandmother saying that our family had indian ancestors and I remember even seeing a picture of my great grandfather Earl Raymond Fowler, dressed in full indian garb, with my very young mother.

So there are hints and signs, but I can't find any definite evidence. Every census I've seen has them listed as "white" but the family bloodline moves straight across traditional indian land, starting in North Carolina to Oklahoma to then, finally, the Uintah Reservation.

Does anyone out there, who may cross branches, so to speak, with me have any more evidence of this? Anything would be greatly appreciated.

Hi msmith,
My name is Tom Fowler, great3grandson to Zuriel and Elizabeth Cook Fowler from Antrim, Wyandot Co., OH. I found your query on ancestry requesting help on Zuriel and Elizabeth and am interested in what you may have found on the Fowler's. Do you descend from the Fowler's? Do you have any earlier data on this family? Several descendants believe Zuriel's parents were Thomas and Betty Sherwood who were the oldest Fowler's in the Little Sandusky Cemetery and at least three siblings were also buried there. Zuriel and Elizabeth with family remained in Wyandot Co. until about 1853 when they bought land and migrated to Monroe Township, Johnson Co.,IA. Here they built a home farmed the land until Zuriel died in 1860. Elizabeth lived on until; 1872 when she died. Both are buried in Anderson Cemetery, Swisher, Johnson Co., IA. This land and Cemetery can be found just South of Cedar Rapids. Elizabeth descends from the Cooke's clan related to the Mayflower Pilgrims. I have not yet sent inquiry's to the researchers following Zuriel and Elizabeth but have seen there birth's listed as Poughkeepsie, Dutchess, NY. I know Zuriel and Elizabeth were born around Orwell, Vermont so I am not sure when Thomas and Betty made there way to VT. They were married 14 Dec 1786 in Poughkeepsie. Orwell-Rutland area is a fair distance from Poughkeepsie so I'm not sure why they moved there. Let me know if I can help with any other details.
Tom Fowler
Hi...I am new to this and was reading the boards here and noticed you were looking for decendants of William Henry Fowler and the name Horry County SC stuck in my head. I have a Reuben Fowler in my fathers side of the family that was born in 1780 in Horry. He was my fathers 2nd generation great grandfather. He married a Sally Fincher and they had a son Granville. My fathers father was James Wesley Fowler 1885-1955 and he married an Addie Elizabeth Upchurch.Do you think these are of the same Fowler lineage? I would love to hear from you if they are. Thanks

Hi...I am Ruthie Jo Fowler, granddaughter of James Wesley Fowler, Rome, Georgia who was the son of John Monroe Fowler..I have traced my daddy, Paul Reece(Dude)Fowlers fathers family back to 1610 in England. I am gonna start on here with my daddy and list them back to the one in England..Paul Reece Fowler, James Wesley Fowler, John Monroe Fowler, Granville Fowler, Reuben Fowler,Francis Fowler,Thomas Fowler,Godfrey Fowler,Sr. who had a son named Godfrey"The Quaker Fowler",John Fowler, Rev Christopher Fowler who was born in 1610 in Marlborough, Wiltshire, England. He died on Jan 15, 1676and there was a warrant out for his arrest the year he died. He is buried in a precinct of St. John the Baptist Church near Dowgate Hill. Married to Elizabeth Burgess...that is as far back as I have gone...have some troubles with the spouses of these me more toward my generation...perhaps too many wives? I would love to hear from anyone who is working on this lineage.

I'm trying to find the Fowlers who came to Virginia in 1621. In combing the databases I've found three possibilities so far:
1) William Fooler and Margaret Blackborne (m. 6 Oct 1618 in Lancashire)
2)Willyam Fowler and Margrett Freshmore (m. 25 Jan. 1620 Saint Helen Theddlethorpe, Lincoln, England)
3) William Fowler and Maragret Waringe (m. 11 Feb 1618 Ecclesfield, Yorkshire, England).
Does anyone have any further information about any of these couples? I'm thinking that the ones who disappeared from the English taxlists in 1621 are the most likely candidates for the immigrants.

Well, this is late but something about never as well. I haven't seen these posts, guess they never sent any alerts.
I am looking again for Red Fowler information so anything you can send would be helpful. My regular address is cahokia44@yahoo.com.

Thanks. Know it's strange to answer but I did a search online and came up with this. I had even forgotten I had posted this.

Ann May
