Yes Robert you are my brother not half I consider you my brother & I would like to send you some pictures of me & I would like to see some of you. the last time I saw you was at Dads funeral Aug 1964 I do not know how old you were at that time. I am so sorry that it took this long to try to find anyone & I do not know the reason why. I have lost every one in my immediate family except for my kids but I have a hard time communicating with them my ex wife turned them against me many years a go. I am new to the FOWLKES list - so HELLO to all of you.

My grandmother, Eva Louise Canaday/Kennedy Fowlkes (1890-1971) was born in Dyersburg TN and died in Memphis TN.
We know she was adopted by Marshall Fowlkes & wife Eudora Rickman Fowlkes and they are named on her death certificate and the marriage certificate indicates his name to be Marshall L. Fowlkes, Jr.

I am interested in finding out whether or not I am on the right path to say that "this" Marshall, (father of my grandmother) is the son of Richard and Unity.

Does anyone know of a Will or some other document that supports this line of thinking ??
Also, is this Richard known as Richard Whitman Fowlkes ?

My wife may have been born to Annie Margret (Holt) Fowlkes on July 8, 1963. We think your father went to a Hospital in Tallahassee around that time or later before his death. Name: Robert William Fowlkes Jr - Death Date: Aug 1964.
Annie Fowlkes arranged a private adoption for my wife. We were wondering if you know if Annie Fowlkes is still alive or if anyone knows the circumstances of her birth. She does not want to try to contact anyone if that is not welcome.
We saw where Annie Fowkes married again in 1980 but lost track of where she could be.

For those of you who can't find a Fowlkes ancestor, you might wanna take a minute and visit a really "special" web site - and I say that because it costs nothing to see and print basically what you would like. I use this site a LOT - there are death cert/burial permits, marriages, probate court info, directories for a bunch of yrs, also see deeds, chattels, mtg, etc.

There are even several deeds I have viewed give slaves names and who they were sold or bought by.

On this site there are too many names to mention them all but some of em are:
Jeptha who I think was married to Sidney Lamb and then to her sister Sarah Lamb. He had brother Austin, who was trustee for 6000 acres of land in Mississippi County, Arkansas. Had a son Jeptha McLemore Fowlkes who i think was the President of Farmers Merchant Bank;

Clint Jones Fowlkes (son of Mark and Victoria Martin Fowlkes);

Sterling Fowlkes and Sterling Jr., (which they had an office inside the Memphis Post Office Fowlkes & Co - also included a T. J. Fowlkes);

Edward J. Fowlkes died 12 Oct 1894, age 74 buried in Lynchburg VA;

Austin Fowlkes age 45 died 2 Oct 1855 of yellow fever;

Calvin B Fowlkes lived 765 Saxon Ave, age 82 born Jun 30 1825 to Joe and Nancy Bass, both of VA, died Jan 26 1908 of cancer of the face, buried at Elmwood Cemetery.

Oh my God, I never thought I would find anyone who was related to him and knew about his mother and father. He married my mother and I was born in 1988. He left when I was 4 years old and I never heard back from him! I have been trying to find out where he lives and all I could find of his last place of residence was wilksboro NC, I called the number but it was already a different number!

I am Eric Fowlkes, a descendant of Gabriel and Thompson Fowlkes. I was raised in Waverly, Tennessee with many older members of the family who related stories of the Fowlkes family to me in my youth. My grandfather was James Franklin Fowlkes and we are descendants of Marquis de Lafayette Fowlkes. My ancestors were related to the Fowlkes family from Hickman County, Tennessee and prior to that, were from Loudon County, Virginia. I am trying to figure out where my Fowlkes fits in and going crazy in the process!

My great-grandfather was John Ville FOWLKES, born 1876 in North Carolina. From what I am told, he ran away from his fathers dairy farm at a young age and ended up in Virginia where he married Alice LOVING.

I've traced him in VA but simply cannot find any North Carolina records for him. He says on census records that his mother was from Tennessee and lists his father as being born in both VA and England.

I am searching for his parents and where they are from as well as any other info that might be out there.

Hello, I was reading your post and wondered if your family has always been in Maryland? I am looking for information on one Pillow Fowlkes who was a slave of the Fowlkes family. The original Fowlkes ancestor, Gabriel Fowlkes,was born in Wales, 1696, died 1775 in Amelia, VA. Pillow lived in Dyersburg, Tennessee but I suspect he lived in other states before that. On a slave schedule I found the name of the slave owner, William Parkham Fowlkes. If you have any information on how your family came to Maryland, I'd be more than happy to hear about your ancestry. Lance Cpl. Christopher S. Fowlkes, 20, of Gaffney, S.C., died Sept. 10 from wounds sustained Sept. 3 while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C.

He first lived in Hanover Co., Virginia before 1720, then Amelia Co., Virginia after 1721
