I was a close friend to Papo Franceschi. We attended Ponce High School together.He was a heck of an athlete. I was there when he ran 400 meters on 46.7 during the Central American Games, in 1966.I am a Franceschini and as far I know my family came from Corcega, Italy. Three bothers settled in the town of Guayanilla where they grew coffee, sugar cane and raised cattle. I have the geanology to show for. There may be a possibility, that somehow some family member may have changed their name from Franceschini to Franceschi, who knows.Older Franceschi's need to come forward and make a claim to like the Franceschini's

Hola Rene y Noris, mi padre fue el Dr. Alejandro Carlos Franceschi Lacroix, hijo de Pedro Marcial Franceschi y nieto de Alejandro Franceschi todos nacidos en el pueblo de Yauco PR. Este último fue el propietario de la Casa Museo Alejrandro Franceschi en Yauco. Mi hermano menor es cardiologo en Miami y lleva el nombre de mi padre. Vivo en Ponce y estoy muy interesado en reunir a los Franceschi con el proposito de hacer el arbol genealogico comun. Hasta donde he estudiado los Franceschi de Juana Díaz y Yauco son familia, los de Peñuelas deben ser de los ubicados en Yauco.

Dr. Francisco Franceschi Caballero built a sailing vessel named "Mary". Carbo a very good friend was his partnr in his voyage to Seville, Spain. He killed Carbo during the trip, a newspaper article was published about the incident.

I looked at some papers and found a little of the ballad. "Borinquen tiene un heroe nacional, Dr. Franceschi lo supo conquistar.Cruso el Atlantico, desafiando el mar. Y fue valiente como Lindberg y otros mas". I didn't see who wrote it or if there is more of the ballad.

Wow my greatgrandfather was Francois Franceschi Mattei and his wife Sabastienne Guilj. My grandfather was also Francois Franceschi but very young he moved to Venezuela. There is a big branch of Franceschi Family in Venezuela.

I am from Venezuela, but i know my ggrandfather came from corsica. They were 3 brothers that left Corsica. My ggrandfather went to Venezuela, 1 brother went to P.R and the other one to Philadelphia. I know my father had an uncle (in Venezuela) named Antonio. My grandfather who died in 1967 went to P.R looooong ago and met his relatives there. So maybe we are also related in some way....

ALL: For anyone interested, or who has done this recently, I have attached a site where DNA traces are accomplished. It seems very interesting and I will be doing mine in the future. Cost is not cheap but not too bad either---and for the info you get it seems worth it.
Anyone who has history doing this, or after accomplishing their DNA analysis, please post.

Hola, mi nombre es Rene Franceschi Lago, mi padre era Rene hijo de Andres y hermano de Porfidio. Si no me equivoco, mi padre conocio a Porfidio en el 1969 en Carolina ( Country Club ) Aunque llego un poco tomado estaba muy contento de haber conocido a su hermano. Poco despues me fui al Army y no supe mas del evento. Mi Padre fallecio hace unos anos y Andres a quien yo conoci tambien fallecio hace muchos anos.
La legacia de los Franceschi es muy interesante y la misma vez muy triste. Quisiera compartir mas contigo Dios mediante.

hi - i am married to franceschi family line - his family is from jayuya puerto rico and ancestors from corsica italy from fathers side - tey all have light compextion with blue eyes and dark hair - their grandfather from fathers side looks like an americano - im just inquiring if you knowthem and if you do i can ask him questions for you - his father name was juan gilberto franceschi from jayuya - from salientito/saliente - in the mountains beautiful area. thanks and god bless.

Bernardo's daughter Letizia was my Gt Gt grandmother, my Gt Grandfather was William Chesney.
I have been researching this part of my family history for 18 months, I visited Carrara last year, and found nothing?Bernardo Franceschi from Lorenzana (Pisa) is an easy one to find, but I personally don't think he is our man, he was born in 1814 and there are too many recordings with our Bernardo as born in 1801 to be so wrong, all the documentation seems to be fairly consistant with dates and his age....just a couple of variations in the spelling of his name which was not unusual for the times.

Dear Ms. Acosta:
I am a Franceschi from my maternal grandmother's side. The Franceschis' resided in the Barrios de Ponce and came from Corsica(French) and according to the Historical Archives of Ponce foreign immigrants list of 1868 Juan Franceschi and his son Luis settled in the Barrio of San Anton. Their ages at the time were 47 and 25. They were farm land owners. I believe they grew coffee. They owned 121 slaves of both Puerto Rico and African origin. Many were given the owner's last name. There are many Franceschis' in and around Ponce when I searched the 1910 and 1920 US Census Records. Also, I found a listing for a Susana Franschi (Franceschi)going as far back as 1827 and listed as Jefa. The best place to start looking besides the Census' is to visit the Historical Archives of Ponce. They will have all types of records of the Europeans and locals that settled in Ponce. Many documents before 1910 are located in Spain. However, if you can visit a Morman family History Center, the staff is tremendously helpful. NARA, a branch of the US Federal government is responsible for storing and preserving federal records of the US and its holdings. Check with them because they do have lots of records on Puerto Rico also.

I am looking to trace my Gt Gt GT GT Grandfather, Bernardo Franceschi, we think he came to England from Italy around 1830-1841, he appears on the 1841 Census living in, London St, St Pancras, he was born around 1801, it is documented that he was from Carrara, Tuscany, he was a Sculptor. The last census he appears on is 1851 with his English wife Mary & his 3 children

Hy, I can not find the trace of my ancestors because i have a missing link from Italy to Panama. If you could help me I appreciated inmensly.
There were three brothers apparently that came into Panama, Cruciano, Angelo and Domenico, and I say apparently because somehow there are another one, I recently discovered in a list of the Masonic Lodge. They departed from Italy, they were deported by the genovenes, this is the story I found around looking and reading through books.

My maternal greatgrandmother was Luisa Franceschi (29 y.o. in 1910) from Ponce. Her mother was Victoriana Franceschi and in 1910 she was 58 years old. I believe that Juana may have been one of her sisters. Juana was 62 y.o. in 1910. I don't know which of the following were sisters or cousins but here it goes: In 1910 Ponce Census-Genoveva 22, Catalina 34, Anicasio 25, Anacleto 23 who was Juana's son, Celestina 31. I am sure there are more but I still have to peruse the Census scrupulously. Luisa worked in the Schuck household and gave birth to my grandmother Antonia Schuck Franceschi. In the 1868 Census Juan and Luis Franceschi are listed as migrants from Corsica. They were land owners and farmed. It was probably as a result of the 1815 decree by Spain I also know that A Susan Franceschi from Corsica settled in Ponce. She is listed in 1824 Census.
