Hi Chuck,

If you are related to Charles F. Franco, who passed away on June 27, 1999 (http://massapequanobserver.com/glencoverecordpilot/1999/07/0...), then we are related through his sister Carmella Graf who was my grandmother. You're also then related to Danielle Franco (who posted here) who is a cousin of mine through one of my grandmother's sisters (isn't it awful that I don't know which? lol). Anyway, I'd be very interested if you know more about Charles' and my Grandmother's parents.

Dennis

Castilla as a surname probably does mean that some ancestor lived in the province of Castilla at one time. (Central Spain) But it could be so far back as to be irrelevant. My ancestors come from the Sevilla/Cadiz area of south western Spain. So the surname does not really tell you anything. Luckily, the baptismal certificates of Spanish people typically have not only the parents but the grandparents listed. If you can find that for any of your ancestors it would be very helpful. Also the double names shows family name and secondary or maiden name) Segundo appelido.
Marriage certificates often have places of birth as well, so finding that is extremely helpful as well. I understand we are talking about many years ago so these might not be easily available.
If you can get to a town by doing research it would be valuable.
As an example I was able to go to the city records in Cadiz and pushed my family tree 3 generations.
Then through patience my cousin and I pushed it back 3-4 more. Good luck.
LDS records are not as good in Spain as in other countries, but they are working on it.

Hi Jane
Thanks for getting back to me.Having a hard time because too many Manuel Francos (Boa Ventura;s brother)records that haven't panned out. Heard too many family stories that have not been true and no one left that remembers that generation in my immediate family, so was hoping to find others that may. I am also in Fall River and my greatuncle who kept in touch with his cousins (Francos from Plain St area) has passed on. I would like to know where in St Micheal they came from and who were the other siblings of BoaVentura and Manuel. Had heard that the father of these two brothers died and the mother remarried and so they came to the US. Also unsure of all the surnames and that may help me get acurate info in St Miguel. Any way of getting toether with your uncle? Is he a Franco? Is there anyone else in the family that has been doing family research? You can email me direct and would love to meet other Francos from FR. Thanks so much in advance
Cindy

I found a person that lived in the right time frame as Jose Prospero Perez Franco that settled in Texas but I have not confirmed his identity.
This person is only named as Jose Perez.
Thanks so much, Maddy. Our Francos are Sicilian so I'm off track here. We're getting closer, may have found something to indicate that he lived in Sambuca di Sicilia before settling in Winnebago County, and later, Cook County, IL. Working on verifying.

Many thanks for your help. Inch by inch... :)

Oh, thank you so very much for contacting me. My mother is 85 and is Evaristo's 2nd to the youngest daughter here in Albuquerque NM. I can truly understand your grandmother's feelings. My grandfather, Evaristo, died when I was about 2 years old so the only memory I have of him is sitting on his lap as a young toddler. I have worked on our family genealogy for many years and I did find the LDS Online records but the first marriage didn't come up. To tell you the truth, my Mother's sister's suspected a first family in Mexico, but he never spoke of it (at least that they'll tell me). Some of my Mom's family is closed-mouth about family skeletons in the closet so I have a hard time digging out information. I would love to hear from you and will gladly share what I have with you. My name is Anna Leyba & my email address is Anita_Bernice@yahoo.com.

A son of evaristo, Jose Melquiades, was a famous (honest)judge in Mexico city. he was named after Evaristo's father. He was a very talented/educated man. His hand was injured on the ranch and he was sent to study since he was considered to not be much help on the ranch. The injury was a blessing in disguise. A blessing because he probably would not have been sent away to be educated if he had not been hurt. He was from Evaristo's first family. I knew him. Evaristo, like Prospero, left his first family and started another. You descend from the second family. My grandmother was contacted by your family a long time ago but she did not respond. She was still upset about her father leaving. My mother often asks me if I have found your family yet.

Prospero left my greatgrandmother, Juana Ramirez and stared another family that our family believed to be near Evaristo's in the united states.
My mother, Juanita is a granddaughter of Prospero. She is 83 years old.
We would love to hear from the family. I have a lot of genealogical information to share.

Hello my name is Karina Orozco. My family is from Tepatitlan de Morelos Jalisco. I also am looking for information on Franco. I found out that my fathers grandfather was his step grandfather. My fathers real grandfather is Marcial Franco. Marcial was married to some lady & had 3 or 4 kids but she died. This is total drama but he had one of his sons & wife living in the house. His son passed away & got his own daughter-in-law(Maria) pregnant. So to hide this scandal he set up a marriage for her with a good friend of his whose name is Eusebio Orozco (my fathers step grandfather). Maria gave birth to my granfather Jose & he adopted the last name of Eusebio Orozco. My grandfathers name is Jose de Jesus Orozco he married Marcelina Navarro Vera. They live on a ranch near Tepatitlan called Presa La Red. Long story short everyone found out that my grandfather was son of Marcial & his other children hated my grandfather so they never contacted him in anyway. I found out some of the daughters of Marcials last name(when they got married) which is Medina & Plascencia. If any of this information is related to you please contact me I am very interested on finding more information of my great great grandfather side of the family.

Hi all! My grandfather is Agustin Franco as well. In addition to the previous comment made by my cousin Agustin, my uncle and godfather Jesus had no child of his own; however he raised a boy called Felipe. I guess Felipe was son of Petra which was sister of Jesus´s wife, Maria. My uncle Jesus had a haberdashery with his wife Maria. He died about middle eighties from some vascular disease. I hope these family details could be helpful. Greetings
