Would anyone take the time to check the original image of the 1881 England census for Sarah Frankling, born 1844. I do not agree with the transcription of her place of birth.
What do you make out of it?
Thanks a lot!

Hi Maureen, This is great! I live in Yorkshire. The Franklings were ancestors of my father. Your Felix is also on my tree - it was a very popular Frankling family name!

If you'd like to email me, I'm at caitlinmasheder@aol.com.

Best wishes
Kate

Frankling family in Barney, Stiffkey and Thornage

Can anyone help with my FRANKLING ancestors?

My gt gt grandmother, Sarah Rebecca FRANKLING was b.c.1816 at Barney in Norfolk. She married George BULLING in 1840 at Holborn in Middx.

Sarah's parents were Thomas & Sarah FRANKLING. Thomas was b.c.1790 at Thornage in Norfolk. He was a miller and baker at Barney. He must have died before 1841 because his wife was a widow, carrying on the family business on census day 1841.

Thomas's parents were James FRANKLING and Lucy STRUTT who married in 1786 at Thornage. A Thomas FRANKLING witnessed their marriage - relationship unknown.

I would be very grateful for help with this - information on the IGI for Norfolk seems to be very scarce compared with the other counties I'm researching in.

The FRANKLING family produced a lot of millers and bakers in the Stiffkey area but Thomas and Sarah had 4 daughters [as far as I know] so their line died out sadly.

Not able to help with your particular enquiry, but maybe our ancesters are related.

My gt.gt grandmother Harriett Bishop born 1831 Petworth, West Sussex married a John Francis FRANKLING, born C.1813 Buxton, Norfolk. Harriett already had two children Henry Robert and William Bishop, who took the name Frankling on her marriage. I am decended from William Bishop Frankling. I have a large family tree for this branch.

I have been unable to find a birth certificate for John but am still looking. Maybe you have him on your family tree?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Judy Arnold
