Hello,

I am a descendant of James Mitchell and Jean Frazer. Their correct information is as follows:

James Mitchell
b. 9 Nov 1806, chr 16 Nov 1806 at Dunbarney, Perthshire
m. 8 May 1832 Blairgowrie, Perthshire to Jean Frazer
d. 5 May 1876 Blairgowrie, Perthshire
Death record states father was William Mitchell

As for this James Mitchell being from Dunbarney, the 1851, 1861 and 1871 censuses of Blairgowrie all list him as being from Dunbarney, Perthshire. Thus his identity is known for certain.

George Mitchell and Mary Cable weren't his parents.

Jean Frazer
(also listed as Jane Frazer in Blairgowrie records)
b. 29 Mar 1808 Clunie, Perthshire
d. 22 Jun 1872 Blairgowrie, Perthshire
Death record of Jean (Frazer) Mitchell states her father was David Frazer, mother was Jean Frazer (maiden name also Frazer).

I have copies of their death entries in the Blairgowrie parish register.

Hope that helps,

Chris

Mary (Scully) Frazer was my Great Great Grandmother. My Great Grandfather was her son Daniel Frazer. He was bought up in some kind of orphanage or workhouse near Prudhoe.

I think his brother Matthew was killed in WW1 in 1917 and his name can be seen at Tyne Cot Cemetry in Belgium.

My Great Grandfather married Mary Anne Morris and they had three children Daniel Frazer, Joan Frazer (my Grandmother) and Matthew Frazer (named after my Grandads brother who died in WW1). The rest of the names also seem familiar, and I have my Great Grandad's birth certificate issued in Bywell Hexham with his mother listed as one Mary (Scully) Frazer.

FRAZER CHILDREN OF IRELAND

I'm trying to get information on MARY JANE FRAZER, WALLACE FRAZER & DORA FRAZER, children of JANE/JENNIE (STINSON/STEPHENSON) FRAZER. Her husband's first name is unknown. These three children were from JANE's second marriage. I will have to guess as to when they were born, about early 1900s, sometime after 1905. JANE/JENNIE STINSON/STEPHENSON was married first to WILLIAM JAMES PARKER and had 7 children from this union: ELIZABETH PARKER, WILLIAM "WILL" JOHN PARKER, ROBERT "BOB" PARKER, THOMAS ALBERT PARKER, FREDERICK "FRED" PARKER, FANNY A. PARKER & MARGARET PARKER. The PARKER children were all born in Glenfarne, County Leitrim, Ireland. I'm assuming that the three FRAZER children were also born in County Leitrim or possibly in County Fermanagh, the next county over. I'm also looking for a marriage date and place for the widow, JANE/JENNIE (STINSON/STEPHENSON)PARKER and her second husband, Unknown FRAZER. That would give me an idea when MARY JANE, WALLACE & DORA FRAZER were born.

I am also related to the Frazier/Frasier family thru Eliza Frazier, daughter of James and Dorcas (Mullen) Frazier. I can't go back yet before James Frazier but I found Dorcas Mullen daughter of Patrick Mullen who was the brother of John Mullen and can trace John Mullen back several generations to the McMullen's found in the Chronicles of Scotch-Irish in Virginia. If you would like to share information contact me at rodt79054@sbcglobal.net. My name is Barbara.(Like Patrick Mullen's wife)

I am still searching for information for Albert and his wife, Mary Ellen (called Ellen or Ella in censuses.)

Their first two children were born in Virginia. I found and Albert in Rappahannock, VA (sp?) in the 1870 census, age 14. That fits Albert's age at the time. The status was listed as F. S. Since the head of the household was not his father, George, I assume that to mean farm servant.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

Jackie,

I wish I had seen your post years earlier. My name is Larry James. I am the son of Eldon James (1941-) who is the son of Eula Georgia Maynard (1898-1959) who was the son of Nicholas Joel Maynard (March 12, 1864-January 13, 1948) who was the son of Martha Jane Wood, born circa 1846 in Arkansas. What I can tell you about my great grandfather is that he married my great grandmother Fannie Shehane Green (1870-1947) daughter of Leonard and Rebecca Green. Nicholas and Fannie Maynard had 10 children including: Beulah, Walter, Homer, Eula, Noah, Cecil, Jack, Louis, Leonard and Virgil. In 1900 their family was living in Corsicana City, Navarro County, Texas. Nicholas died of hypertrohy of the prostate and was at the time living in the City of Ranger, Easland County, Texas. He is buried at the Oakland Cemetery in Gorman, Texas. His wife Fannie died on February 22, 1947 of congestive heart failure and is buried in Burkbunrett, Texas. At the time of her death Fannie had been living in Denver City, Yoakum County, Texas.
My grandmother Eula Gerogia Maynard and her siblings fondly remembered their step-grandfather Patrick Taylor Frazier and I am in possession of letters sent from my father's uncle Homer Garven Maynard discussing grandpa Frazier and the fact that they knew he wasn't their biolgical grandfather but loved him just the same. The grandchildren had almost know knowledge of their biological granfather Reubin S. Maynard. If you would like more information please write to me at JamesArchives@aol.com. I hope this is useful to you.

I am told she was born in Canada but moved to Michigan (Detroit Area) which is where they raised thier children.

I can't seem to find ANYTHING on her. The closest thing i've found about her parents is a 1920 Census Record that shows her mom and dad's name to be Thomas and Nellie. I'm told her mom's name was Vera so I can't be sure that is a correct record.

If anyone thinks they might have some info, I would be very grateful if you could pass it along.

Thank you.

-John Boslooper

I am looking for information on Patrick Mullen Frazier and wife Rosey unknown. I believe Mary M. Fraizer who married George W. Scott, 1840, St. Clair County Alabama is their daughter.

Any help would be appreciated.

Faye Scott Heffington

The list follows.
I understand clues on headstones. I'm looking for someone who knows about the family.
What is the exact wording on the stone? That would give a better clue. For example "parents of" followed by a list of children would have one meaning, while a simple list of children would suggest that some of those children are buried with them.
Rosemary

I am looking into the ancestry of Sarah Frazer married to Nivison. She was born and raised in Monmouth County, New Jersey. I have found a picture online of the gravestone set up in memory of her parents and siblings but she is not listed as one of the children of George Frazer and Virginia (Conover) Frazer. The others seem to all be listed. Was she omitted because of logical reasons (Not sure what they would be) or was she adopted?
Thanks for any insights.
Jennifer I would love to hear about the history you know. My mother's maiden name was Mary Washington Frazer and her father was Washington Frazer who was James Stokes Frazer's son I believe. I have only been to Nashville once to visit Nashville and stayed with Lewis Frazer (my great uncle), but heard countless stories from my grandfather. Would love to hear more.

The name is generally regarded as having French origins- from "fraise", the French word for strawberries. One of the earliest Frazer castles is Neidpath, near Peebles in Scotland; it has a stone carving of strawberries over the outer gate. Google neidpath & strawberry for more info.
My Frazers came from Antrim, Armagh & Down. Still searching for descendants of Dr. Henry Frazer MD, d1891 Armagh.

Bruce Frazer, Melbourne, Australia

They seemed to go all over the place - England, US and Australia. No idea why.

My Dad used to say that we were from Scotland and that we could have had a castle there but to inherit it my grandfather had to go and live there, which he would not do. I can find no links to Scotland with what I have found so far. So not sure where the story came from - my Dad, Grandpa or further back. But I doubt I will ever find that castle!

Hi Deirdre

We were in contact back in September 2007. Unfortunately I still have not been able to make a connection with your Frazer line. There is always the possibility that there is a connection there somewhere. I do have a John Frazer but he emigrated to US and married Mary Isabella Miller.

Shirley
