I am searching for ancestors of William Freeth b. 1804 in Smethwick, often noted as Harborne on records. His wife was Sarah Guttridge from West Bromwich. They had the following children...Samuel b. 1834, Edwin b. 1840, John b. 1843, Emma b. 1845, Leonard b. 1849, and Jane b. 1851....Edwin is my Great Great Grandfather........Can any one help me go back generations at all??? It is possible that William's (b. 1804 ) father was Thomas b. 1771 who married Lucy Heath but Im not sure....Regards Susan

Hi John,
This is most interesting. I have gone back to 1663 in West Bromwich with the Freeth part of my tree but have none of your people on my tree.. However, a lot of the childrens names are the same, Job, Jeremiah etc so there must be a connection.. I have seen some of your Freeth names on IGI before but could not find that elusive connection..

I have Joseph Freeth c. 1663 m. Phoebe.
Then Joseph Freeth b. 1689 m. Frances Henn (West Brom All Saints)on 15/04/1714.
Their children are:-
Joseph 1716
James 1717
Ann 1719
Jeremiah 1722
Susannah 1723
James 1725
and my ancestor Job 1729 who married Nancy Smallwood and later lived in HArborne where he family moved to..

What do you think?
Regards, Susan Berry

Hi again John,

Sorry to be a pain but was just checking IGI (which I know is not always correct ) and I found your Edward Freeth b. 1703 and his siblings but it says their mother was Ann Thomson not Elizabeth Powell. Have you come across this before?
Susan

Hello Susan,

There appear to be 3 suggestions (from IGI records) regarding Edward Freeth's (b.31.5.1703) mother - Elizabeth Powell, Susannah Smart & Ann Tomson. Exactly who (&when) William married needs further investigation! If we come up with something new I'll certainly let you know.

Best wishes, John

William Freeth and Sarah (nee Guttridge) are my grandparents x3.

They lived in Roebuck Lane and had 10 children. Leonard was not their son but their grandson. He was, in fact, the son of Hannah Freeth

Hello

What a fascinating site.

William and Sarah Freeth (nee Guttridge) are my grandparents x3. I had information on most of their children and grandson but you have given me ancestors from even further back. Thank you.

Betty

I am a Freeth living in California. Do you have any information on Freeth's that went to Gibraltar. My Great Grandfather was born in either London or Sheffield and at some time lived in Gibraltar. His wife was Spanish
His name was William Felix and his father was Thomas.
He was born around 1820 and came to U.S.A. in 1860, sailing from Gibraltar.
Thanks Joan Freeth
