It was given to me by Michael Freke of Trowbridge, England I am currently typing it inot a family tree program. When done I will forward you a copy somehow! (I'm not really inot this stuff!!)
I live in Bristol, England, and can be contacted directly on alanfreke@hotmail.com

Be in touch!

Thanks Alan, Michael is my cousin but I have found it difficult to get information from him at a distance, especially as he doesn't seem to be into computers. If you have it all and can send me a gedcom I woud be grateful. I'll write to Michael too.

Cheers

Sarah Freke - William Hunter

Chris:
I'm wondering if you have a marriage of Sarah Freke m. William Hunter at Kingswood (near Bristol) in 1832. Sarah was the daughter of Constantine Freke and Jane Peasley. I have descendants of Sarah and William Hunter from the time they left England about 1852. Sarah was my gggrandmother who lived in Gambier, Knox County, Ohio, USA. I have been unable to find parents and siblings of William Hunter although the 1851 census gives his birthplace as Bitton. Any leads or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hunter

Sorry, My line traces back to Constantine's brother, George and I haven't looked for anything in other lines. I hope you have more success elsewhere.

Cheers

Dear Chris,
In Holland is a large brancge of the Freke Family. Most of them lives in and around the Fishing-seaside place Katwijk. There are also Freeke's here, belonging to the same family. In my opinion originate the name from a given name, this is "Frederick". And thus is the surname a "patroniem". Where the first ancestor came from, I dont know. He appeared in 1743 for the first time in Noordwijk. This is also a seaside place here. His name was Hartman Freeken. It is possible that he came from the UK, but I doubt. If you have any suggestions, I would welcome them.
Lots of greetings, Cees Freke
