Dear Betty
I am married to Evan Frew (John Edgar, Edgar harold,John, Samuel, robert). I have looked quite hard but haven't been able to find when and how John Frew ( b 1838) came to NZ and what happened to his brothers Alexander and William.
You must be Evan's second cousin? We have John and Caroline's family Bible but it only lists the birth dates of the children plus some of their deaths. John Edgar Frew died on 4th July 2002 and is buried at Greendale near his parents and his Grandfather, John Frew who died 4th July 1895 ( even though his headstone says 7th!)

My ancestor William Cameron b 4 may 1789 married a Margaret Helen Frew born 12 Dec 1793 and was we think the daughter of a George Frew who married a Janet Baird. If part of your family would be very pleased to make contact with you. Our old family bible had the relevant page torn out. So we are stuck here.
Thanks
Colin

My dad and another gentlemen are currently trying to patch the details of a story that seems to be related, just a bit further back.

They are currently debating whether or not we are related to the Elizabeth, maiden name Webster or Elizabeth maiden name Godfrey. It seems they both married an Arthur Frew and were from Bellaghy in N. Ireland.

Here's the thread link. Hope I'm not confused. All this backtracking with similar names drives me crazy!
Read down to the posts by a Richard Frew:
http://boards.ancestry.com/thread.aspx?mv=flat&m=75&...

My Frews are also from Killinchy. My grandfather Robert was born in 1871 in Killinchy. His father was Henry Frew and I am unsure of his d.o.b. He married Ellen Montgomery. They emigrated to Canada after the sons James and Robert travelled here in the late 1800's. Ellen died in British Columbia and Henry subsequently returned to Ireland. I am looking for any other relatives that may still be in Ireland or any history of other members of Henry Frew's family.

I don't have much on this family but if you go to familysearch.com and put in Frew and then the parents names you will come up with more of their children. I believe there is also a death for Andrew. There may be other info under different spellings, but they will all come up and you can look through them. You might know more names than I do as I have just recently found Annie Frew married to a Tierney that I was searching, now looking for children or deaths of Annie and James Tierney. If i find more i will contact you. Good Luck.

Hi Karen,
I am going from memory here and have looked at information regarding Andrew Frew and wife Rosina. If I am correct, he is buried in the Cumberland, Vancouver Island Cemetary? I looked at his headstone many years ago. I checked at the Cumberland City Directory for Andrew and was told he was a coal miner which I had suspected. I really would be interested in any early information that you have regarding Andrew. I am a Frew Researcher and have lost that part of my early info. My family also worked in the Cumberland mines as well as Nanaimo, Fernie and Kimberley here in British Columbia. Many thanks.
Cheers
Linda

Frances Elizabeth Frew McGhee

1918-1995.
Born: Spring-Creek, Missouri.
Died: Missouri-Chamois(?), Missouri.

Father: Ezekiel Miranda Frew (E.M. Frew)
Mother: Roberta (Burt) Frew
Siblings: Donald (b. 1904), Curtis (b. 1911), Douglas (b. circa 1914)
Married: Roy Mcghee in Mountain Home, Arkansas,

Hi everyone, I am trying to get some more information on this woman. I have a ton of articles about her, EM and Roberta before 1940s (most are regarding bridge events!) but after 1942, she disappears until her death in 1995.

Curtis' obituary announcement states that he has a sister, "Mrs. Frances McGhee in Washington, D.C." Given the circumstances, I've tracked down this Roy Mcghee (http://www.trumanlibrary.org/oralhist/mcgheer.htm), who was born in Jefferson City, Missouri, married a Frances, and worked in D.C. in the 1950s after.

Pertaining to the transcript, I have found this Roy McGhee's grandfather's Spanish war record, and his father's WWI record, but I can't find anything in the census regarding them. Would love some help with this!

Can anyone help me? I'm trying to see if the Roy McGhee in the transcript was married to this Frances Frew, and if so, did they have any children? Is there an obituary or a headstone floating around somewhere?

Thanks!

The home your grandmother and grandfather built is scheduled to be on the Beverly Area Planning Association's 41st Annual Home Tour on May 15, 2011. I'm conducting volunteer research as the Coordinator of the Architectural Resource Center at the Ridge Historical Society (www.ridgehistoricalsociety.org). Visitors are always captured by the stories behind the fabulous historic homes in Chicago's Beverly neighborhood. Many thanks for helping us tell your family's story. I can e-mail you a photo of the home on Seeley Avenue if you send your e-mail address to me at jskenny@pipeline.com.
Hello,
You do have the right family. H. Milton Frew was my grandfather and Gail K. Frew was my mother and she did graduate from Loring School. My grandfather's father, Howard Frew, owned furniture stores in Pennsylvania. Milton broke away from the family business and bought Cooper Jarrett trucking lines and as far as I know he ran that company and that was his occupation. He retired in the early 50s and sold the house in Beverly. He and my grandmother moved to Phoenix in the early 50s and he died there in 1955. I don't know much about the home. My grandmother talked about it all the time. She didn't really want to sell it and move to Phoenix. I probably have some pictures of it somewhere, but I'm assuming it still exists. I'd love to see what it looks like now. If I can be of further help, let me know.

I know that his daughter, Gail K. Frew, graduated from Loring School in Beverly. I am pretty sure I am researching same family. I am very interested in finding out H. Milton Frew's occupation and any other information you may know about the home. Many thanks!

I am looking for my 2nd great Uncle, John FREW b. abt 1845. He was born in Scotland to Thomas Frew (1805-1864) and his wife Margaret Neilson Frew (1821-1856), he came to America and according to a letter I have he went to Colorado. I do not know his wife's name and only know three children, Mary, Margret and Robert.

I came across a John Frew in several years of census records that could be him, but when I look at family histories, that look also like this same family there are some discrepancies.

Anyone familiar with this John Frew of Colorado, I would love to chat with you.

In the state of PA, the death certificates began to be kept on record in 1906, as we know them today. However, the New Castle Public Library has a newspaper file on microfilm with any death notice that was published in a newspaper in this county. They have been most helpful in looking up information for family tree searchers. The library does have a website. Incidently, "Jennie" is sometimes the nickname for "Jane" in that era. "Ella" is also a nickname, perhaps "Eleanor" or "Ellen."

May not live til night.

Jennie McMillin

I've try to determine who the mother is Jennie is speaking of. Ella and Jennie from what I can tell are not related. Do you know of a way to look up deaths in Lawrence Co. in 1895? I've not been able to find a website.

Thanks for any help you can give.
Mardi

On your question concerning Mary Jane Frew, I have no further information on her. However, may I clear up the "place" part of the information that goes with the Frew family? There is a town called Slippery Rock in Slippery Rock Twp. Butler Co. PA. Just across the line in Lawrence Co., there is a Slippery Rock Twp. Both are named for the Slippery Rock Creek that flows through both counties. The Randolph's and the Frew's lived in Slippery Rock Twp. Lawrence Co. PA.
And as a side note, New Bedford, Lawrence Co. PA is about 3 miles from Coitsville, Mahoning Co. OH
Jayne Beech

What year was your mother born? Arthur Frew is a rare name and if he came from Ireland it is likely to be my Arthur born 1870. There are 2 others but both have middle names, Arthur James Frew born 1891 and Arthur Stanley Frew born 1906. As I understand it Arthur Frew who married Elizabeth Webster had 2 daughters, Lillian was one and I'm not sure of the other.

You can see the Church by visiting the website www.ballyscullion.com and I'm sure the Secretary would love to hear from you as a relative of a former parishioner.

His family were farmers. Arthur died on 1st October 1914 in New York I believe due to an accident at work. The family were Church of Ireland or Anglican. USA may have a different name for the same or similar religion. I'm told he had a daughter Lilian who married Lowney. Members of that family have visited Ireland and have met with the family locally. For your information, Arthur was born on 12th April 1870.

No kidding! Awesome! :) I never knew anything about him, as I said he apparently died when my mother was a little girl. I 'think' I heard that he'd not become a citizen of the US, because he had to pledge he'd go to war against Ireland if the US told him to? Something like that. Do you know anything about him personally? What religion? What kind of work? Education?

I have not been here, at ancestry.comm for more then 10 years! :)

"If" this is the Arthur Frew who came to America, and married, then he is my grandfather. I've never met him, and do not know much of my family related to him. He apparently died when my mother was still a child. I have a copy of the ship's passenger list of some sort. It says that he, Arthur Frew, and Mary Frew came together. She was 18, he was 26. They were bound for NY.

Andrea '
this is quick because I did reply to you but it did not come up on the board ! Possibly I have pressed the wrong key or something . Thought I should try again .
I had given up looking for the family but I am delighted you have been in touch . Isabella's granddaughter is in her eighties and still living in Scotland . Some family still live there too but others of us have flown the coup . Mum has always wanted to know what happened to her grandmother . She remembers both her grandmother and her Aunt quite clearly and often spoke about them to me when I was a child . She also remembers her own childhood in Canada
and will be delighted when I tell her I have found you . Are you still in Canada ?
Hope to exchange info with you soon,
all the best ,
Irene

I don't know if anyone got back to you on John Frew, but I have a lot of information on him. He is my great-great grandfather and can give you what you need I hope! I can also put you in touch with someone who has a lot on the Stewarts as well!
Cherie Roberts
