Hiram Fry-Frye and his father Valentine Fry-Frye of Stokes Co.,NC and Wythe Co.,VA

Hey,i'm pretty certain that Hiram Fry-Frye and Valentine Fry-Frye of Wythe Co.,VA are my 4th and 5th gg's respectively.I'm wondering if anyone can post the photos of Hiram Fr and Valentine Fry's house up on here or send them to my e-mail at thegaminboy@yahoo.com?If this is a violation of ancestry.com's rules then don't bother.

I know Hiram Fry married Anna Mary ''Polly'' Yonce/Younce on Aug. 22,1833 in Wythe Co.,VA.

I'm wondering how certain is it that Hiram's father Valentine married Mary Catherine Yonce in NC?And has it been proven that Valentine Fry B. March 17,1786 Stokes Co.,NC? and D. Sept 20,1833 in Wythe Co.,VA is a son of Johann Valentine Fry B. 1747/1748 in PA D.1814 in Stokes,NC and Maria Catherina Petri B.1753 in PA and D. Aft 1804?

If this is true apparently Johann Valentine Fry's father was also a Johann Valentine Fry or Frey B.1721 in Alsace,Germany/France and D.Abt 1798 in Stokes Co.,NC...my question is though has this been proven with documentation?

I know going by Valentine Fry's bible it has been proven atleast who his kids are and his wife's name was Mary Catherine, but has anything else been verified on this line with documents? Thanks.

Hi, my name is Julie Hammond. I'm the great-great-great granddaughter of James and Elizabeth Kellogg. In response to your query of Elizabeth Fry, I believe she was Native American, coming from Ohio. James Kellogg's father felt that by marrying a Native American, that he was marrying below his status. Therefore, the couple was ashamed of Elizabeth's heritage - which is why, I believe, her parents are never listed anywhere. If you find any information on her parents, or even what tribe she belonged to, please contact me! I'm desperately trying to find that information!

G'day David, you mentioned you had 200 cousins in Australia....Sir Peter Pears was my great Uncle. In his biography it mentions Elizabeth Fry was his great great grandmother.

Says James Pears married Anna Maria Fry in Bombay in 1851 and had eight children ( she was his second wife - first wife died age 32 having had six children!). One of the kids from second marriage was Arthur. And one of Arthur's sons was my mum's dad ( my grand father).

I can't find how Anna Maria Fry was related to Elizabeth though, and was hoping you could help?

Cheers, and thanks!

We have lots of info on Lucinda. At the moment, we are searching computer files to see if there is an obit. I'm almost certain there is one someplace. I recall that it state that she died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Filbert Fry. In our research we considered that Filbert might be a misspelling since we were unable to locate Filbert among the Frys. If you will email us, we will be happy to send you info on Lucinda. How does Lucinda tie in with your genealogy. Lucinda's daughter by first husband (Claiborne Pigg) was Martha Jane Pigg who married Aaron McIntosh in Greene/Sullivan Co., IN. Lucinda, as I recall, was buried in Antioch Cemetery, Dugger, IN. (I hope my memory is accurate). We would appreciate more info on Abner Womack, Lucinda's father. We have located the home place in TN.

I don't have any information to share related to your George Fry, but I would like to add that my gggrandfather was George Henry Fry b. 7 Jan 1826 and he and his family emmigrated to the US from Alsace in 1829. They first settled in Attica NY and later moved to Germantown WI and then La Porte City IA. I am also interested in any information that others may have on the Frys in the Alsace region of France/Germany. I have the city of Wissemburg as a birthplace for George Henry and his siblings were born in Strassburg. But I have no birth records, only a date from G.H's obit and locations from census records. Also I have been unable to find a ship manifest. I would love to find some records from this area and time frame, however so far I haven't come accross any.

thanks,

Lottie

Amos Fry would have been my great grandfather. My grandfather was Earl E. Fry. There are many half brothers and sisters in this family. I have heard that Amos fathered somewhere between 12-19 children. At this time I have only the names of 8 (Earl, Taylor, Mattie, Violet, Lona, Ed, Florence, Jessie(?)).

Cora was his second wife and my grandfather's, step mother. She was younger than Amos. She lived with my grandparents for a while. She died in Delaware County, OH and is buried in Marlborough Cemetery. According to what I have she was born in 1868 and died in 1940. My mother remembered her.

I have never heard of Native American heritage in this family line. I have been trying to trace the Indian connection of my father's side of the family so I wish you luck.
