Things are starting to look like I am also part of this line if anyone can help I would appreciate it. I currently have the Claiborne county archives looking into it. My great great grandfather was Henry Fultz. I had pretty much hit a dead end and even the archives was having trouble finding any records of him except for some census records and a marriage record. They messaged me back and wanted to know the married names of my Great Grandmother and her sisters. It looks like they found an obituary for Henry that matches up with the married names. They say it lists a Smith Fultz as a brother. How many Smith Fultz's could there have been in Claiborne county?

LOLITA!!! This is Pam...Rosa's daughter! How amazing to have found you here! I just answered a post about the Fultz family and my memories of your grandpa. He was such a kind, lovable, quiet, gentle man. Although he didn't say much, I loved him dearly. Your own dad was the same way. I remember you putting those ENORMOUS rollers in your hair and going to bed to get up and go to summer school. I was in first grade; you were in junior high. My mom was in the hospital with typhoid fever, and I stayed with your family for two weeks or so. I can still see every room in the house. Please get back to me when you can at james.pam@pctc.k12.oh.us. I would absolutely love to hear from you! Pj

I just started researching my family tree. My grandfather is Theodore Delos Fultz. He is the son of Gustavus Aldophus Fultz and Julia Cynthia Ballentine of St. Johns Berkeley Parish. He is the son who settled in St. Louis, Missouri. I would love any information or pictures you may have on him or his family and why he ended up in St. Louis.

Henry Fultz Cave Springs, Claiborne county, Tennessee ?

I am reasearching my tree and have hit an end with my Fultz line and hope someone out there can help steer me in the right direction. My GG Grandfather was Henry Fultz b.Aug 11,1873 and died May 31,1952 from the Cave Springs area of Claiborne county. My GG mother was Vina Massengill Fultz born july 7 1893. I have also seen in the Claiborne county pionneer project that the Fultz name is posted with the name (Phelps) next to it and have ran across a blog entry in the past where someone has claimed that a large number or Phelps changed their names to Fultz around Claiborne county in the 1800's and may have quite possibly been Melungeon. I think this may be true because I believe I possess some of the common Melungeon characteristics.

Any info would help, Thanks
Any info

I had always heard that Luther had at least 21 children but never met any except Dianna a half sister to Earl. Earl is in his 80's now and still doing well.

Eve Fults / Moses Myers - Warren County, TN

I received a lead yesterday as to the identity of the parents of Ephraim Fultz Myers, my great-great-grandfather - have been searching for this for 30+ years. I have believed for some time that his father is Moses Myers, b in VA probably around 1801, and died sometime prior to the 1850 census. The lead names his mother as Eve Fults, b 1798 in VA and d 1857 in Warren County, TN. Eve Moyers/Myers is in the 1850 Warren Co., TN, census as head of household and was born in 1798 in VA. The clue indicates that Moses Myers died in March 1850 in Warren Co., however, the Moses Myers in the 1850 Mortality Schedule is only 30 years old. I believe this Moses Myers is probably a son of Moses and Eve. Moses Myers, the elder, is listed in the 1838 Tax Schedules for Warren County. Ephraim Fultz Myers is probably named after Eve's elder brother, Ephraim Fults who married a Ruth Myers (still searching for a Myers connection here).

Eve is the daughter of George Fults, b 1755 in VA, and Catherine Kite. George is the son of John Fults, b 1728 in Rhineland, Pfalz, Germany, and d June 1806 in Augusta Co., VA.

If you have any information on the above family connections, please contact me.

Thank you.

Ron Turner
turner.rj0815@flash.net

Re: A deployed soldier looking for history

Hi, Wesley,

I'm afraid your genealogy has some serious errors. George Foltz (abt 1755-1830) was the son of a Johannes Foltz (d 1806) and his wife Anna Catharina of Rockingham Co. (now Page Co.), VA. The suffix "es" on the name Johann means that he had no other given name.

This Johannes and Anna Catharina of Virginia were no relation to Johannes and Anna Catharina Zollhoferin of Pennsylvania. That man's name was Johannes, not Johann Philip. The Pennsylvania marriage record notes that he was the son of the elder Johannes. Johannes of Pennsylvania died in 1801. Neither of them was descended from Andreas Voltz.

As far as your family can be traced back is to Johannes and Anna Catharina of Virginia. No one really knows where they came from or exactly when.

Voltz became Fultz and Foltz because in German "V" sounds like an "F" in English. It doesn't "mean" anything. A coat of arms or crest belongs to the knight who earned it and perhaps to his drect descendants. There is no such thing as a coat of arms that belongs to someone just because they have a certain surname. Most of the people who came to the USA as immigrants were poor farmers and shepherds, not knights.

Censuses were enumerated by censustakers. People didn't sign them. Names were often spelled phonetically by the census taker. If you check some of the original censuses, you may find that your ancestors were unable to read and write. Those were questions asked in a number of the censuses. If the citizen couldn't read or write the census taker did the best they could with the spelling.

Yes - born 4 March 1845 in Kentucky to Joseph Fultz and Mary Elizabeth Smith. The family is located in or around the Grassy Lewis county for their entire lives. I have all other census records for the families life but the 1880 census is missing.

Other trees have the 1880 attached - I however think they are incorrect.

I am looking for positive proof that Ralph Fulks/Fultz is the son of Obediah. I have been working on his line for a couple of years now. He was born circa 1788 and married Mary Clark on July 16, 1807 (Tazewell Co. marriages records)
Does anyone have proof? I have followed Mary and Ralph from VA, to KY, to Indiana where they both disappear around 1840.
Dianna

I actually found her obituary. She died May 9,1915. That how I discovered her brother's name and that she was at the home of her daughter. She's buried in the Quaker Cemetery and I tried to access their records without any success. I probably need to consider all different spellings of Fultz, since that was the spelling my Mother gave me - Foultz, Foults, Foltz, Folts.

I think that you are thinking of the witness question (which would likely be her daughter)

The death certificate includes these questions:

Name:
Death Date:
Death Place:
Gender
Race: white
Death Age:
Estimated Birth Year:
Birth date:
Birthplace:
Marital Status:
Spouse's Name:
Father's Name:
Father's Birthplace:
Mother's Name:
Mother's Birthplace:
Occupation:
Street Address:
Place of Residence:
Cemetery:
Burial Place:
Burial Date:
Additional Relatives:

If any of her family knew these facts, then they were probably included.

Hello, It's great to finally connect with someone who is researching this line. My line comes down from Obediah FULKS Sr 1765-1845 & Martha Blankenship 1775-1855. Their son John Wesley "Fantley" FULTZ b:29 Jun 1887, Russell County, VA d:15 Aug 1815, Buffalo Creek, Carter County, KY.

His son George Washington FULTZ b:24 Feb 1848, Wesleyville, Carter County, KY, d: Aft. 1900 Maysville, Mason County, KY was my G Grandfather. His second wife Mary Sidney "Sally" Roden b:1866 in KY was my G Grandmother. Their daughter Mary W. Fultz b:30 May 1888, Carter Co., Ky d:18 Jan 1967 Ashtabula County, Geneva, Ohio who married John Thomas Burton was my Grandmother. They lived all their lives in Olive Hill, KY.

My main interest lies in Mary Sally "Sidney" Roden, my G Grandmother, who has been my stumbling block for several years. I would love to trade information or help anyone that I can. So glad to have someone post on this family!

Liz, I see this was posted several years ago but...I'm also looking for Yeary's in the Kentucky area. Have you had any luck? I just married a Yeary and we're trying to do some geneology, but we really only know as far back as my husband's grandparents at this time. I've asked my father-in-law if he knows Ninnie Elizabeth. Yeary's tend to live in Jefferson (Louisville) and Shelby Counties in Kentucky.

OK, here's more of my memory. Karen's (Marlene) & Don's last name was MERRILL. Tammy was born around 1961-1963 in maybe Oceanside, CA. We visited them and I remember Karen being pregnant and they lived by Camp Pendleton. Don was still in the service. Her second child was Cheryl and they ended up giving her up because she was becoming dangerous to Tammy and her 1st boy out of 3. Cheryl had epilipsy. Cheryl would have been born in mid 60's. When Karen died, the funeral was somewhere in LA. Mom & I went to the funeral but did not go to the cemetary. I don't remember any of the boys' names. I will email my address & tel # by using my Hughes.net address.
