Looking for information about the family of Terence Gallagher
who according to his obituary was born Galt, Canada, May 15, 1839, and died at Wilbur, Wash., February 12 1905..
Terence Gallagher had resided in Missouri until a few months
before his death when he moved to Washington to be with his
children and grandchildren who resided in the areas of Wilbur, Lincoln County, Washington and Soap Lake, Grant County, Washington.

His children were as follows:

I am going to put your message into my genealogy folder as at this time I am not too sure whether or not there is a connection with our Gallaghers. My husband and I are going back to Ireland in October and it is quite possible that I will be able to find something. I do know that the O'Donnell's and the Gallaghers were related somewhere along the line in our family. We will be spending considerable time in Co.Donegal, so, who knows what will turn up.

He married (2nd) Mary A. LEONARD in Glandorf, Putnam, Ohio on 14 Aug 1861. They had several children:

Can someone do me a huge favor? I have the US membership & when I search for my Edward Gallagher under the Immigration section, Edward Gallagher age 25 labourer & Owen Gallagher age 22 come up on the Irish Passenger list for 1803-1806. I can't see the whole page. Can someone with World membership access look it up for me? I'd like to know what else it says & whether there are any other Gallaghers listed. My guy came over in July 1802-1803 to New Castle Delaware & was born in Donegal 1778 per his Naturalization papers.

I am looking for information on a Winifred Gallagher that lived in Brooklyn or surrounding area. My Winifred (spelling?) had two sisters that I know of, on Loretta that married William Lindenmier, and another Rose that married an O'Connor possibly, and maybe other siblings? I do not know her dob, but I do know she married a John William COURT and had several children in the 1920 era, including George, Phil, Joseph, Edward (b. 1921) Charles (possibly) and a daughter Emma Winifred & John William (called Will or Willie) were both married in Brooklyn, maybe early 1910-ish?

In 1930 he is appears in the census at 202 Ritner St
He died on 6 Feb 1975 at Naval Regional Med Cntr and his mailing address: 5056 No. Fairhill St and his usual occupation was Chief Boatswains Mate and the informant was Mrs Ethel M. Gallagher

Does anyone have any information about George GALLAGHER who was born on 28 Sep 1900?

I do not know his parents or where he may have been born. however, I do know that in about 1940, in married Fern Elva ARBOUR (who was previously married to Estel Thomas SAGERS).

George and Fern had two children: Patricia in 1941 and James in about 1943. Both are now deceased.

The family seems to have lived mostly in Oregon so perhaps this is where George was born, as well.

George died on 08 Apr 1978 in Lane Co, OR. I do not know when or where Fern died.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am wondering if anyone has the name Terence in their Gallagher family, a family that might have come from Co. Cork or from Co. Limerick. I have a Terence Gallagher and Mary or Margaret Ryan having a child in Springvale, Kildorrery, Cork, in 1829. I also have a Terence Gallagher of Kilcruaig, Limerick, (RC parish of Glenroe)who married Ellen Keppel, of Old Castletown, Kildorrery, Cork, in 1826.
The latter would have been the son of Thomas Gallagher.
Occasionally, this family used the surname of Galway rather than Gallagher.

My grandfather was James T. Gallagher born in Philadelphia, PA in 1889, mother Bridget Fitzgerald and father Thomas J. Gallagher, both born in Ireland. His mother died when he was young and the family moved to NY. Where she died and when is a complete mystery. I am attaching a group family photo. James T. is not in the picture but, is brother, John P. Gallagher with his wife and son are as well as a Mr. Meehan, I believe, his first name could be Patrick. Does anyone recognize the Gallaghers or Meeham in this picture?
I am also attaching a newspaper photo of John P. in a WWI uniform displaying the newest field kitchen for the Army.

Looking for ancestors in Wisconsin (Kenosha). Federal Census lists them as Galligan initially and also as Gallagher.

Only other info I have is that daughter Ellen went to Saint Mary's Academy in Prairie de Chen, Wisconsin in the 1870's and then married Joseph Martin in 1885.

I have been told that there are some Galligans buried in a cemetary in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

I'm looking for any information on my great-great-grandfather, Edward Gallagher. He was born in Ireland about 1850, and came to the US about 1875. I think he first came to Maryland, then came up to NJ across from NYC (Hoboken, Jersey City?). He married Anna about 1877 (b 1855 in NJ, surname unknown) and had at least 8 children: Mary, Harry, Teresa, WIlliam, Anna R, Emma, Esther, and Jennie (there may have also been Lynne, Joseph, and one that died in childhood). They lived in NJ until about 1890 or so, and moved to Brooklyn.

Anna R was my great-grandmother. She married George Callahan about 1907, and had 5 children: Jean, Theresa, Anna (my grandmother), George, and William. They lived in Brooklyn, then moved to Queens in the 1920s.

John Joseph Gallagher was born abt 1912-1913 in Omagh workhouse on his birth there is no fathers name he changed his name to \mundy after living with a family of this name but only changed this leagally in 1976

I am attempting to find information on my grandfather, John Gallagher, who married Catherine Gehrein in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, around 1909-1910, in the German section of Pittsburgh, called Troy Hill. They had two children, Leona, and William (my father). John Gallagher died around 1915, when my father was 2 years old. John also had a sister Rose, who had an excellent singing voice. She lived in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh, Hotel Schenley, now owned by the Univ of Pgh. Rose was supposed to have married and moved to Gibsonia. A brother David, was supposed to have had several sons. I assume he lived in the Pgh area as well. This is the extent of what I know.
Would appreciate hearing from someone who may have clues about John Gallagher.

I am looking for my birth Mother, originally from Pennsylvania. All I have found out is her name is Shirley Gallegher. I was born out of wedlock in Dec of 1954. Shirley was an unwed mother, my father and her had talked of being married but he was killed - I assume in the military. They had one other child before me. She had hid her pregnancy with me from her family, who she thought would disown her - she must have been pretty young. She left PA and went to the Beckley WV area where she contacted Social Services regarding adopting me out. From what I understand, I was given up at birth and put into foster care. Being mid 50's, it is a sealed adoption, the only thing I have to get information from is the Social Workers notes that have blacked out info so i can not read all the information.
If anyone knows of Shirley, or anyone else that may know of this situation, Please get in touch. I live in Wheeling WV.

I know that Peter C. and John M. were in the tugboat industry in the NYC area during the first half of the 1900s. Anne Crofton had at least one son, Peter Crofton who is still living in the Chicago area.

Peter Cornelius (the first one mentioned) reportedly was the son of Cornelius Gallagher and Annie Fagan.

Anyone with any information please respond. I am going crazy trying to find more information on this side of the family.

A sister, Ellen, was already living in North Dakota. the family lived for a time in the Acton area. In 1893, they moved to Martin Township, near Cashel, where they bought land.

His parents, Susan and Farigal returned to Eganville in 1898. On Feb 14, 1898 he and Mary FEELEY were married. After their marriage, they came to North dakota and made their home on the farm near Cashel. His parents and Susan remained in Canada.

Mrs Farigal Gallagher was born near Eganville, Ontario, Canada on May 11, 1868. She was the daughter of Thomas and Mary FEELEY. She has three sisters: Sarah, Kate and Margaret and three brothers: Thomas, James and Patrick. She and her husband had four more children: Thomas, farigal, Hugh and Margaret.
Mr Gallagher died Jan 1917 and Mrs Gallagher in 1939. their son, Farigal, died April 1964.

I am researching a Gallagher family line that descends from my ancestors, Jacob and Mary (Fletcher) Black of Fayette Co, PA. I suspect that James M. Gallagher who was a Cumberland Presbyterian minister living in Jackson Co, PA in 1870 and 1880 is a descendant.

James M. Gallagher was born in Pennsylvania ca 1821-1822. He was married to Ellen. In 1850 and 1860 he was in Venango Co, PA. He had two children: John, b ca 1851; and Mary b ca 1856.

The widow Ellen W. Gallagher is listed in the 1900 census of Mercer Co. She was b ca July 1825. She was the mother of two children and one was living.

Was James M. Gallagher a son of John and Mary (Black) Gallagher of Uniontown, Fayette Co, PA? I would like to exchange information with descendants.

Please find reproduced a rare extract from the 1851 Irish census. This material was copied prior to the 1922 destruction of the records in the civil war, as evidence for a Pension application.

This has been copied from the National Archives in Dublin.

The census shows two families living in one house, although it is said that it was one structure divided into two rooms John & Thomas where brothers.
It is prudent to realise that this was first census following the great famine, 25 % of this Parish either perished or emigrated.
I do have a little information on these children, but most emigrated. My notes are in italic.

I am trying to learn more about the above family. Thomas was born Ontario, Canada July 1866 and immigrated to Michigan abt 1884. He married Julia Monin in Isabella Sept. 28, 1893. Their children were Catherine Louisa, Thomas Henry, Agnes, Anna, Louretta,Cecilia, Helen, James, Andrew, Edward and John.

Thomas and Julia last appear in the 1930 Isabella ceensus at ages 58 and 55.

Gallagher/McCaffrey-Castlefinn Donegal

I am searching for Grace Gallagher and John McCaffrey born around 1800 in or near Castlefin, Doneghal or at least living there in 1850's. A son born to them Edward in January 1838 who immigrated to US around 1873 Grace and John also a daughter by the name of Margaret who married Barnerd Loughrey around 1855. I am hoping someone on the list has come acros these names in combination.

I am interested in a marriage between a female Gallagher (either Margaret or Mary - records difficult to read) to John Clahane. Witnesses were Thomas and John Gallagher. According to the marriage notation they were 3rd degree cousins so there could have been a Clahane-Gallagher marriage at an earlier time. Has anyone come across this family in their research? The Gallaghers would have been from the Ballynoulty or Gortacurrig area of Kildorrery.

recognises the following family?
Margaret (aka Maggie - MS McHugh) - Townland of Drimnaraw,Nr
Creeslough - Donegal,married Hugh Gallagher. A daughter Rose
was b 18/11/1869 in Co Donegal. By 1880 Hugh & Maggie where
living in Belmont Street - Allegheny city, in the interim
5 more children b to Hugh and Maggie, John/Charles/David/Mary & Martin - these children b in
PA.
I believe Maggie Gallagher (ms McHugh/McCue) was an elder
sister to my G Grandfather - Patrick McHugh b c1854/5 Drimnaraw - Co.Donegal.

My great grandfather Patrick James GALLAGHER was born in Charlestown, Co. Mayo, in 1868 or 1869. He married Anne GALLAGHER (same surname!) in 1890 at Meelick, Co. Mayo, and they had eight children - Patrick, Kitty, John, Mary, Nellie, Annie, Martin (my grandfather), and Josie. The eldest 5 were born at Swinford, Co. Mayo. The family moved to England just after the turn of the century.

My great grandfather was a building contractor, and he also owned land at Clooninshin, Carrowreagh, Co. Mayo.

F.M not sure of surname 1915 Australia. Was Living in Windsor Victoria 1901in 1915 living in south Yarra Victoria. He died the 3/7/1944 He had two children a son James Farrel Gallagher Married Lillian Merran Graham in 4/5/1946. Malvern Victoria. He also had a daughter who died young.

This is what I know of my Mom's father's side of the family.
Her father's name was James Thomas Gallagher, born March 30, 1889 and died 10-3-1960. He had brothers and maybe some sisters. The brothers names I know were John & Thomas J. My Grandfather's parents were Patrick Gallagher and he married a Bridget.
My grandfather lost his mother at an early age, and I don't know what happened to his father. My grandfather married Josephine Machauer and they had five daughters, Anna, Jeannette, Mildred, Josephine & Dorothy.
My grandfather lived in NYC and was always at my the Machauer's house after his mother died.....my Grandmother was an "adopted" Mom to him.
I have a cousin name Jeannie, her father's name was Frank (if I remember correctly) and I had an Uncle who was a priest "Father John Gallagher" and around 1968, was assigned to St. Sebastians church in Woodside.
If anyone can connect my past with theirs, please let me know.
