Darlene,
Alfredo, my grandfather was your grandfather Arturo's brother. My grandfather Alfredo had an interesting life. His first wife was May (Marie). His last wife was Jean. My father was Alfred Michael Arthur Andrew Gallipoli. The eldest son of Alfredo and named after his father and uncles, born in 1924, and his life was a unique mystery. He married my mother in 1947 in Scotland. I met and lived with and then near my grandfather whom we called "Pop" when I came to MA in 1961. He was a gifted artist; spoke Italian fluently, among other languages that he carefully concealed and loved opera. He had other children and I believe a step-child/children as well. Pop died when he had a heart attack dismounting from a Boston streetcar near his residence. You are my cousin, twice removed.

Nazario Family originating in Positano, Italy

Anthony Nazario dying at a young age fathered 3 children who were adopted by Dominic Gallipoli.

It is believed that Anthony Nazario was adopted by a Rachel DeMartini who lived in Positano, Italy. Any information would be appreciated.

We'd like to see if we can trace the Nazario roots before they became Gallipoli.

Hello Darleene
I'm 28 years old girl from Milan Italy. My grandfather was from Catania - Sicily, so I don't know if we are relatives!
But I'm looking for some trace, so:
My great-grandfather, Stefano Gallipoli was born on 11/11/1888 (maybe it was 1898) in Catania; his son, Giuseppe Gallipoli, my grandfather, was born on 1908 and my father Antonio Gallipoli was born on 1948.
It could be possible that we come from Calabria but we have no precise information about it!
Kind Regards,

Darleen -
I have been researching my italian family (Galizias and Palopolis) and noticed some Gallipoli's in the same town. The town is called "Cassano allo Ionio" and it is in Cosenza. I don't have any specifics on who, but I remember many with that name. You can order birth/marriage/burial records through the Family History Center at the LDS church. Good luck!
angela

Darleen - I stumbled across your posting. I have had a great deal of success finding my family in Pesaro - Urbino, starting only with a province. I began by writing letters in Italian to those with my surname in the province. I received a quick response, then phone calls. I did the same for my grandmother's name, and another relative in Argentina. This led to our visit to our ancestral villages, and our meeting with dozens of relatives we never knew we had - an incredible experience. I was able to research our roots to the early 1700's by searching local parish records. We have had a reciprocal visit by family, and we joined them in a tour of the West.

I'd be happy to give you some pointers and help with the language.

John

Gallipoli family from Italy

I am looking for information on the Gallipoli family who immigrated here from Italy. My great-grandfather, Michele Gallipoli, came here about 1896. His wife traveled back and forth a few times, each time bringing others with her. Her name was Maria Grazia Benedetto. She brought my grandmother to this country to marry her son Arturo (Arthur)--my grandfather. Her sons Amedo and Alfredo came as well as her daughters Ermelinda and Erminia. They all came from southern Italy; my grandfather came from Potenza and my Grandmother came from Campana, Calabria. By he way, my grandmother's maiden name was Concetta Longo. Her brother Antonio went to live in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. Gallipoli is a troublesome last name, as any info coming up in various searches always pertains to the war of Gallipoli...not "people" Gallipoli. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
