I am Henry Albert and Elenore Wedekind's GGG Granddaughter.
their son Ernest R--->Henry Wesley--->Henry Wesley (my Grandfather)--->Hugh Smith--->ME

I am so confused at this point, I'm desperate for info. If you have any info that goes back to Germany, could you point me in the right direction? My Dad and his brothers have passed away. Thanks in advance
Sarah Garbee Matthews

Hello. I descend from Camille's brother, George Henri. I have a copy of the family bible from Camille's parents, and several other documents from France. My father and I went to Montbeliard and took pictures of the cemetery. We also met with other Macler's still living in the area. Please send me your email or address and I will send you more information. I had not been able to find information about George's two sisters once they came to America, so I am excited to hear more about your family.

Sincerely,

Michelle

Hi...I am researching my wife, Debbie's, family history. Debbie's greatgrandfather was Charles F. Lovy who married Camille P. Macler. They were both from Montbelliard, France and immigrated to the United States in the late 1800s. Charles and Camille had three children, Marguerite, Charles and George Henry, Debbie's grandfather. Any info you have on either Charles or Camille would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Ray Mansfield

They specialize in records for German genealogy in Eastern Europe (i.e. former Prussian areas).

Sorry I couldn't be more help. Good luck!

Alida

Thirza Mae Garbe/Garbee from the Billings, Missouri area

Hello,

I am looking for any and all information on my grandma's family, the Garbes. Actuallly Thirza Mae Garbe DeWitt was my dad's stepmother, but she raised my dad and his older brother, Bruce as her own. My dad's mother passed away in 1919 and grandma Thirza married my grandpa, Bruce Tinsley DeWitt either in 1920 or 1921. They had four children of their own, Kent, Carol Elizabeth, Keith and Porter DeWitt. The family mainly lived in the general area of Billings and Republic. Grandma passed away in the early 1970's in Republic, Missouri and is buried next to my grandpa, Bruce T DeWitt and his first wife, Nannie Coye Eichenberger DeWitt in the Rosehill Cemetery near Billings. She lived next door to my Aunt Carol Elizabeth "Bittie" Coggin down on South Main. Aunt Bittie is married to Herb Coggin, who was the postmaster of Republic for many years. I know that grandma Thirza had two sisters by the names of Nell and Lucy and I do not know the rest of her sisters' names. And that she had alot of brothers. She came from a large family! I know that two of her brothers lived out by Rosehill Cemetery in Billings. We use to go out to a big yellow house that one of her brothers lived in down the road from the cemetery. And that another brother had a farm farther down the road and he raised sheep. Funny how we remember things! We also used to go out to Kerr Springs near Billings and there was a cemetery where some of grandma's relatives were buried. I know that I am spelling the last name of her relatives wrong, but I am doing it by memory, the "Tiawathas". Does any of this sound familiar to anyone? I would really enjoy contacting any of her family. Grandma Thirza was the only grandmother that I was close to and I loved her very much. So I would really appreciate any help that can be given to me.

Thank you,
Linda DeWitt Hughey

Do you have any further information on Fred Brust and his wife? How about siblings for Alvina Brust? In my records I have Fred Brust with wife Ella Welke Brust. They had one son that I know of, Paul. I have a photo of Ella and Paul Brust taken in Iowa around the very early 1920's. I don't think they were living there....just visiting Ella's parents. If you have ANY informaion on this line...please pass it on! I need help.

Hi Bob,

Both my girls just left within the last 30 minutes of each other. Andrea and Steve live in Springfield, MO, it is about a 3 hour drive from here. And Domonique and the baby just left, Dom and Eric live in Plano, TX, which is about 4 hours away. Dom is trying to finish up her degree at OK State while living in TX. They moved down right before her last semester at OSU, we were ready to kill her. But Eric works for OKBancorp which owns the Bank of Texas and that is where he was assigned. And then Drew, my oldest and only son lives in Galveston, TX. Too far away from us, but gives us a good excuse to go visit. Both the girls were here for my birthday which isn't until tomorrow, but this was the only free weekend for them. Steve and Andrea gave me one of the best birthday present ever! They have been trying ever since they got married two and 1/2 years ago to have a baby and she is about 6 weeks along. She kept it a secret until now.

My email address is: OKCOWGIRL52@HOTMAIL.COM. Can't wait to see what you have! Got your email and will go into Ancestry.com to put you down as a guest!

Linda

My great grandmother was Ottilie Minke. She was born 14 October 1890 in Dunov or Kunitzpol, Gostynin, Prussia and married Herman Nast on 14 May 1914 in Philadelphia, PA.

They had six children: Helen, John, William, Eleanora, Herman and Harold Nast (my grandfather). I have info on them.

Ottilie's sister Berta Minke went to Sao Paulo, Brazil. She married (I don't know whom she married) and had a daughter Helene. Helene has a daughter named Elisabeth who married Robert Volkmer. I just found an old address (12 years old) and I am going to attempt to contact Elisabeth and Robert.

I recently learned that my great grandmother's brother, Reinhold Minke, was married to a woman named Natalie Dickhof (or Dichow) from Gostynin, Prussia. Natalie's parents were August Dickhof (or Dichow) and Johanna Mallas.

I don't know their ages but Natalie married Reinhold Minke on 8 February 1909 in Gostynin so I would guess they were born in the 1870's or 1880's. I have info on their eight children: Elfrede, Adele, Erich, Willi, Grete, Ewald, Kurt and Edith Minke.

Ottilie, Reinhold and Berta's parents were Michael Minke and Ernestine Garbe.

This is the only information I have on this part of my family and I would be interested in learning more.

I can communicate in German if that is easier for anyone.

Thanks for any help you can provide.
Alida

Hello, I am searching for the ancestors of my greatgrandfather, Henry Albert Garbee. Henry Albert was married to Elizabeth Ann Trewartha (Andrawartha). I have information back to Henry Albert's grandfather, Henry Garbee born circa 1798 in Germany married to Elenora Wedekind. And then nothing back from there. I am Henry and Elizabeth's greatgranddaughter thru their daughter, Thirza Mae Garbee DeWitt. Actually she was my Dad's stepmother, but the only mother he knew since his own passed away when he was only two. And of course the only grandmother that I ever had. I know that my Uncle Keith DeWitt has been back to VA and has met some cousins, but he is not in good health, so he hasn't been able to tell me much information. Most of Grandma's family stayed and died in the Billings, Missouri area. I have Elizabeth Ann Trewarta Garbee's family traced back quite a ways, but very little on the Garbee side. Do you know of Jackie Harrel? She is a descendent of Alfred Goolsby Garbee, my grandmother's oldest half brother. I have tried to reach her with no success, hoping that she had information. I would really appreciate any help or guidance that you can provide.

Thank you in advance,
Linda DeWitt Hughey
The first place to start your research would be by listing the known Garbe's that are in the family, mainly your father/mother's maiden name and grandfather/grandmother's maiden name on the message board. There are several Garbe family databases on Ancestry.com and RootsWeb.com.
