LOL Actually, Lynne, I just took a quick look at my tree, and found I have 6 ancestors named John Garner (and 3 named James)--but none more recent than John Fushee Garner.

Whom are u do say which path is my right path? If u were all smart you'd stop prevoking my so called indecency. You'd think? Wouldn't you? If you don't like what I have to say you don't have to read it n
or do u have to answer it. There are loop wholes everywhere. And I'm calling someone out. Now I'd suggest that you all just mind your own business and move on with your lives searching for whatever it is ur searching for. And ill tend to my purpose here on earth

Lindsay,
Your posts here are so incoherent, that we're reading 3 or 4 times to try to understand what you're talking about. I have a 25 yo niece who can write and speak better English and with coherent than you do. We are asking you to clean up your English on board as well as your spellings.
Yes, we are wiser, after years of writings the old-fashioned way. We are referring to the school and no typewriter. We did not have your iphone then and your "texting"s are repulsive here.
By the way, I hope you're adopted.

Report away. Good for you all. Did it ever occur to be of u that maybe I read the guidelines. N that's all I know. I mentioned the other names cause maybe someone on here by chance would know those nnames and or be related to them there for they quite possibly fill in the blanks? No! U didn't think of that! U all assumed. Ur all self centered thinking u know everything all because u know ur origin and have all ur family info doesn't mean that u know everything! Yeah I maybe born in 85 doesn't mean I don't know how to read and fallow instructions I'm not stupid. Oh n by the way all because ur older doesn't mean ur wiser nor does that mean u deserve respect automatically respect is given when u have earned it. And u all most certainly didn't earn it thanks to Kerry being a know it all and ur drama fallowing one tracked thought processes chose to assume n had the fire to the wrong rubbing over gasoline was not necessaryily a smart choice. I know this tho my family is detatced and full of secrets n they ride motorcycles n that is all I know n if no one knows than they need to shut up n stay out my business thanking very much. Chase I'm on a mission that's already drug on for over s decade thank u peanut gallery!
"lindsay courtland garner" you have been very rude. Shame on you. We here at Ancestry.com just want to help. It is very difficult to help concerning living ancestors, AND, very difficult to help without adequate information. You were born in 1985, therefore your father was probably born sometime after 1940 -- there are very few records beyond the newly published 1940 Census, and the WWII records, available on Ancestry.com, or anywhere, due to privacy standards. I, personally, do NOT help in searches for living people as I consider it a family-matter and not an ancestry-matter. You need to COME TO TERMS WITH YOUR OWN FAMILY. We, here at Ancestry.com, are not about, cannot be about, healing family relations.

I did work on your request earlier today (before your nasty post): "I would like to know why i am not in my father Roy Anthony Garners family tree" - What? I couldn't find a "family tree" which listed "Roy Anthony Garner," and, I couldn't find a tree which listed a "John Garner Married to Mary Bell Garner" which could possibly be your tree (in other words, the John Garner who married Mary Bell is way before your potential grandparents' age). I believe you wrong in your search in many ways.

KerryZane909 and I have very pleasantly worked together in the past, and I think he was WAY too kind to you. I do not believe you deserve any level of respect or decency as you have been paranoiac, demanding, wrong, misguided, and an $$hole (as you term it).

You really should spend "2mins talking to [your] god." And, you need to apologize to Kerry (gosh, and to me, for wasting my time with you).

Lynne, of Garner blood

You ask for help, but you don't give us any information to get us started. Except, of course, the name of your father and your siblings. Care to take a guess how many people are in the US with the exact same name as your dad? The more information we have, the more help we can give. I will ignore your previous juvenile remarks.

So let's start fresh with what we do know. Your father's name is Roy Anthony Garner. When was he born? Where? Your grandfather is John Garner, and grandmother Mary Bell--I'm ASSuming Bell is her maiden name. Knowing their birthdates and birthplaces helps tremendously in finding the information you want. After all, John Garner is a VERY common name; I can count at least three in my family tree (Yes, I have Garner blood).

I'm not asking you to show me respect, Lindsay, because that has to be earned. But courtesy can go a long way. If my previous PM rubbed you the wrong way, I apologize. But for anyone to help you, we need more than what you've already given.

well... thanks for being the a $$ hole to tell me everything i already know.
thats why im on here. and as for dead people im looking for my great granfather n my grandfathers brothers n what not i stated plainly what i was looking for. it sounds to me u might have slight case of selective reading or u need to slow down n not read backwards. i bet u have alot of misscommunications in your life. its from being the one whom assumes before reading a situation fully before u choose to look like a fool and embarass ur self n others around u. that is why they call it ass u me cause it makes n ass out of u and me.
so thank u very much peanut gallery. but i figure i could maybe find some one on here that may know more that i dont know thats new to me that may help my search. and as for this just about dead people its a family tree maker duh.. theres not just dead people KNOW IT ALL. Keep your left feild comments to yourself if u dont know what ur talking about. you just wasted 2mins of my life reading ur useless comment thanks. i could have used the 2mins talking to god.

Well, for anyone here, including myself, to give you the help you desire, we would need some more information:

Parents' full name, including middle names and mother's maiden name. Their dates and places of birth. Considering your age, I would hazard a guess that your parents are roughly the same age as me (50+). That means they won't be on any available census. So then we would need the above info for your grandparents.

As for why you're not listed on your dad's family tree, three possibilities come up. I apologize in advance for being rather brutal.
1. An oversight.
2. Someone being a jerk.
3. You're adopted, and nobody told you.

To be fair, our best chances of finding genealogical information is with people who are dead. I cannot access information on living people, unless I have permission.

I don't recognize any of those names but my grt grt grandfather was born in Georgia. It was said that his father was one of six brothers that came from Ireland and settled in Georgia. Then scattered to Ala., Miss., Tenn., and eventually my grt grt settled in Panola Co., Texas. Lots of info from him on. I have a name of Rodick or Rodrick Garner in the census of Heard Co., Georgia that I think or believe is his father but can't prove.

jax848484@yahoo.com
Jack

1940 Census

Until there is an index, many of us are searching through numerous pages in hopes of finding our ancestors/relatives. I mainly search Vigo County, IN, and Clark County, IL, and when I find the name ON THIS BOARD (I am posting this same message on my other family boards), I will try to post the Enumeration District and page number for THIS name. I hope this helps and I would really appreciate it if you all could do the same. I suggest we have as the subject line "1940 Census" and the name of the individual. As an example, after I post this I will post "1940 Census Frank Collins, Vigo, IN." And then, in the message, I will post "Indiana, Vigo, West Terre Haute, 84-79, Page 21."
Very Best and Thanks,
Lynne

We have a John Wesley Garner in our family. Not the Texas Garners though. I know they had to move from Ak to OK because John (Wess) was involved in a incident regarding land and property lines and that lead to someone burning down someone’s house and a fight in which the other man bit part of Wess Garner’s ear off. The trial found (Wess) guilty and the family left Arkansas and moved to Oklahoma. They later returned to Arkansas. In the process of getting this story from my 90 yr old grandfather Ray Garner. John Wesley Garner is his father. I don't think this is your John but thought I'd share if someone wants info on the Arkansas Garners.

John Wesley Garner 1895 & Myrtle (Esther) Garner 1896
John (Wess) Garner – Birth Arkansas, 1930 Oklahoma, Death Arkansas

They had…
Robert Garner 1919 -
Tommie (Ray) Garner 1921 – Living

I am also looking for information on Lucien Garner who married Elizabeth Keck. They were my great great grandparents. Their son, Daniel, was my great grandfather; his son, Herman, was my grandfather. Herman married Vashti Fadely. Ida Temperence Garner was Daniel's sister. My father was Robert Garner (son of Herman), who married Lillian Irwin.
I have run across information that Lucien Garner migrated from Guilford County, NC to Henry County, IN. The Garner family settled in and around Spiceland, IN.

So I'm a few years late on this but Betty Sue Garner is my grandmother. She lives in New Mexico now and her name is changed to Betty Sue Wells. She has an adopted son named Don Wells who is my father.
