Hi Stacey! I came across your post. I am searching for my Gascon line and think we may be related. My gg grandfather was Edward Eugene Gascon, he had brothers John, Joseph, Nepolean, Charles and sister Delia. their parents were John and Josephine Gascon. John born Canada French and Josephine born in ny. I believe your line is with Joseph? If so, do you have any information for beyond John and Josephine? I seem to lose John somewhere in Canada.

Thank You,
Julie

I have tracked my Gascon family back to the marriage of Joseph Lalonge and Marie Lecas, but have been unable to track down any records for this couple (i.e. marriage) or beyond.

If anyone has seen or has any records relating to this couple or their pedigree they'd be willing to share it would be most appreciated.

FYI, based on Drouin collections and church records, the link to that couple is as follows:

Joseph Lalonge and Marie Lecas (aka Lucas/Lacas/Lecasse are listed in the Ottawa (Notre Dame) church registry for the marriage of their son.

Their son Joseph (B:approx 1839) married Zoe Larocque/Rocquebrune (B:approx 1842) in 1863.

Joseph and Zoe's son Joseph Philorum Gascon (B:1866) married Philomene Drouin (B:1869) in 1894.

Hi,
My name is Stacy. My great-grandfather Joseph married my great-grandmother Pearl. They had two daughters, Pearl Lillian and Virginia. Pearl Lillian married her second cousin, John Philip Gascon (parents Napoleon and Anna), who are my grandparents. Their daughter Elsie (my mother) was born in 1933 in Sea Breeze, New York (near Rochester) and they moved to Oregon in the latter 1930's. Sounds like there is a high chance that we are distant cousins.
My great-grandfather was Napoleon Gascon (born 1858), who married Anna (Annie) Bauman (sp.) (born 1861), whose parents were both born in Germany. Their children were Alonzo, Frank, John Philip Gascon (my granfather, born in N.Y., 1891), Mary, Anna, Blanch, Albert, and Fred. John married his second cousin, Pearl (whose father was Joseph and mother was also named Pearl). John and Pearl were both my grandparents. They had four children, Raymond, Arlene, Lily and Elsie (born in Sea Breeze, near Lake Erie, 1933), who is my mother. My mother Elsie moved to Oregon in the latter 1930's. She married Clyde Williams in 1953. My name is Stacy and I was born in 1956. I would be thrilled to know that you are related to me, and I would be greatly interested in hearing your story that you say is hard to believe! Please email me back ASAP at slralph@yahoo.com.
Thanks, Stacy

This is a long shot. I recently purchased at an auction a photograph album - that appears to be a family album. It includes a studio type photograph of a young man in about his 30s dedicated to a Guillermo (William) Koehler signed by a Rafael Gascon, San Jose, Costa Rica (Central America) dated 20 September 1898. Would this Gascon possibly be a relative of your grandmother? There are many other studio type photographs included in the album. E. A. Montemayor

Elvira...
I am doing a little research for my friend. Her father Alfredo Gascon was born in Guadalajara, Mexico as was his father Pedro. Alfredo was born in 1903. Does this sound familiar?
Any help would be appreciated. Does anyone have any tips on doing research in Mexico?
David,
My grandmother was Armelle Gascon of Canada. Family moved to the Fall River, MA and Rhode Island area. She married Wilfrid Payette and had several children, all in Rhode Island.

I have no information about my grandmother's roots. If you believe this name fits your research, I'd be willing to share my information with you, if you would share yours as well.

Best,
Jan

Jan,
Fantastic! You are my first contact with anyone descended from one of my grandfather's siblings! I have it from both my father & his sister (both now deceased) that Armelle was one of the sisters of Adelbert Pierre, my grandfather, & that she married Wilfrid Payette (I have him as "Wilfred" but assume that your spelling is the correct one) & lived in Fall River. I have some of their dates from Rootsweb's version of the Social Security Death Index (http://ssdi.genealogy.rootsweb.com/ ).

I've been away from the genealogy project for awhile now, but your message has rekindled my interest. Up until now, except for a few notes from the memories of my late father & aunt (including a list of name of my grandfather's siblings, & the names of his parents), I've hit a dead end on any of the Gascon relatives after the Joseph Adelbert generation. I do have from my father's files a small, yellowed newspaper obituary (no date!) for Gaston "Gus" Payette, a retired postal worker; he was the only child of Armelle & Wilfrid that I knew anything of.

Through rummaging around at Rootsweb, a couple of Québec websites, & especially the library of the American-French Geanealogical Society in Woonsocket, I've accumulated a fair amount of information about the earlier generations, which I have stored in Family Origins 8.0. It will take me a little time to put it together for you. My great frustration has been in trying to find out anything about more recent generations. I am VERY interested in what you may be able to tell me about Armelle & her descendants &/or contemporaries!

Cheers,
David

Joseph Adelbert Gascon

I am looking for information about relatives of my great-grandfather, Joseph Adelbert Pierre Gascon. He was married in Ste.Brigide parish of Montreal on 20 June 1874 to Oliva Desparois dit Champagne, the daughter of Joseph Desparois dit Champagne and Dina Masurette (Mazuret) dit Lapierre. The earliest Gascon ancestor I've found for him is Bertrand Lalongé dit Gascon, born about 1630 in Ligen, évêché de Bordeaux, France. The first in his line in Québec was Bertrand-Pierre Lalongé dit Le Gascon, born 1656 also in Ligen, évêché de Bordeaux, France, & married 17 April 1697 to Anne Ethier in Repentigny, Québec.

Joseph Adelbert & Oliva had at least 8 children: Adelbert Pierre (my grandfather, b. 13 Feb. 1883 in Terrebonne, Quebec), Pierre Adelbert Mastai Ubalde (b. 1880, died at 2 years old), Mastai, Ariel, Salome, Armelle, Éva, & Hélène (all surnamed Gascon).

Information relating to any of these people will be gratefully appreciated.
