I'm acknowledging your message to the Gate bulletin board. Thank you for the information. I haven't followed up much in the last few years but I know the Gate people where in the Manchester area. I have a cousin in Coventry who has an extensive family tree done back to the 1600's but its been difficult to get that info from him. I have found two members of a branch of the GATE family in my family tree.
Margaret Gate(s) born c1814 likely Carlisle, Cumbria, England
Esther Gate born c1816 Carlisle, Cumbria, England
Am assuming they are sisters as I found them married to brothers John and Richard Killey of Liverpool, Lancashire, England. The parents of Esther are cited as being John and Agness Gate.

A rather long subject line I know. I'd dearly love some contacts with this family. Julia Maude Guerin is believed to have married 3 times Mr Gate being her second husband. She and her first husband MrGeorge Cooke Bunton had at least 3 sons she supposedly was a widow with 6 children when she married Mr Gate in 1846 . What I have at present is Their son Edward Gate's family( His wife a scotswoman Helen Malloch Bennett,their chidren, Bertram William, Dorothy Nina(my Nana), Edward Gorrie and Rex Bennett.)

Is there anyone this family sounds family to?

I was wondering if there is any connects between Gate and Day?

My G-G-G-G grandfather was Jonanthan Day and his mothers last name is suppose to be GATE.

Edward Gate (Guerin)

My Great Grandfather was Edward Gate. He was born on the 6 May 1853 in Blackrock,Dublin. His mother was Julia Maude Guerin and his father was Alexander William Gate. They were married on 21 July 1846. She was a widow and had previously been married to someone of the name Bunton. I've heard that she later married a fellow named Grieves probably after the death of Edward's father. Her father is listed as James Guerin . I think there is a connection to Limerick as there is a photo taken of Julia from Limerick. I've no idea when either of my gg grandparents died. Edward came to Queensland ,Australia in November of 1886. He married a Scots woman Helen Malloch Bennett their only daughter Dorothy Nina (b.1897) was my Grandmother on my Father's side. Edward died in February 1927 and is buried in the Toowong Cemetery in Brisbane. His Grandson was named after him .Edward also had 3 sons Bertram William (b.1895 ): Edward Gorrie (b.1899) and Rex Bennett(b.1901)Does anyone one know anything about this family. I don't know if Edward had any brothers or sisters born to his father . His mother Julia was reputedly a widow with 6 children at the time of her marriage to Mr. Gate.
