Hi,
Are you still looking for this information?
Hector Gautreau's marriage information indicates that his parents are Patrice Gautreau and Laudia Williams. Patrice Gautreau (Sylvain Gautreau & Barbe LeBlanc) married in Adamsville New Brunswick April 1, 1913 Laudia Williams (Paul Williams & Marie Collette). This information can be found at the NB Archives on-line.

http://archives.gnb.ca/APPS/GovRecs/VISSE/141B7.aspx?culture...

http://archives.gnb.ca/APPS/GovRecs/VISSE/141B7.aspx?culture...

http://www.canadaeast.com/obituaries.php?keyword=Hector+Jose...

I hope this helps.

Louis

I'm starting to think that I uploaded the wrong GEDCOM. His birthday is wrong too. It should be 2 Feb 1801. I don't understand how I got these discrepancies. Two different people looked people up for me in the Tracadie registers and both gave me different information. I'm hoping some day to get to Moncton so I can do this research myself and not have to depend on others.

Well, that pretty much confirms that we're talking about the same David. I'd love to see the picture you have of his possible parents. I'm going to devote some time this weekend to updating my tree. As I mentioned, it's pretty sparse right now. I have a great deal of information that I haven't added yet. I've met dozens and dozens of people who share many of my Acadian ancestors, but you're the first one I've found with such close ties to my Gautreau line. I have two books that mention some of our ancestors and I have a two volume set from the research center at Moncton that lists all of the early Acadian families.

Barbara

The asterisk was just to make it clear which line I was following. I have an exact dob for our David. He was born 18 Jun 1878 in Tracadie and christened 22 Sep 1878 at St. Jean Baptiste Parish in Tracadie. These records are available at the Acadian Research Center (Centre d'études acadiennes) at the University of Moncton in Moncton, New Brunswick.

I am so excited about this! I was having my doubts because of the date of birth and place, but now I think this must be the same David. He DID have a brother Michel who was two years older.

As for the dates, my information on David came from a researcher who went to Tracadie and looked up the actual parish records so I think my dates and places are probably the correct ones. Every one of the 18 children from the two marriages was born in Tracadie so I don't think David would have been an exception. I even have a christening date for him that came directly from the parish records.

This line is terribly confusing to try to follow. We descend from François Gautrot through a daughter from his first marriage and a son and daughter from his second marriage. This occurs in several places in the tree, so it's quite a web to try to navigate through.

I have a tree here on Ancestry but it's pretty sparse at the moment. It was becoming unwieldy so I removed it put just my direct line and was going to slowly branch out from there. I'll add David back in and share it with you. I'm going to attach a GEDCOM here too.

That's interesting, as David's oldest son was born in Fitchburg, MA, and then the rest of the children were born in Peterborough, NH. It has to be the family. Michel, I assumed was David's brother, because he is living with them in the 1900 census. Do you have anything on Michel? Michel's War registration cards say he was born in Tracadie, while David says he was born in St. John, that is why I am wondering...any help would be great.

Wow, that post is three years old. I was just beginning my journey and know so much more now than I did then. I've traced my Gautreau's back as far as is possible to go at this time. I also discovered that my grandfather did have a brother David. I have his birth date as 18 Jun 1878 in Tracadie, NB. That's close enough that we might be talking about the same David. My grandparents came to Fitchburg, MA from NB, but later moved to Peterborough, NH.

I don't see an asterisk in my entry. What are you referring to?

Always nice to find another cousin. If this is your David, his parents are:

Dosithee Richard Gautreau b. 1 Feb 1825; Tracadie, NB, Canada; d. 19 Oct 1890, Tracadie
m(2). 9 Feb 1875, Tracadie
Marie Luce Losier b. 16 Sep 1844, Tracadie; d. 9 Mar 1916, Tracadie

Dosithee was a prolific fellow. He had 11 children with his first wife, Louise Brideau, and then had 7 more with Marie Luce. I've traced this line back to François Gautreau (Gautrot) b. abt 1613 and one of the original French settlers of Acadia (now Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia).

If you think this is your David, I have a great deal of information now on this line.

Barbara

He married Olivine M. Beaudry about 1896. What does the asterisk mean in your entry? Any help would be appreciated on this line. David immigrated in about 1898 and settled in Peterborough, NH, and then died in Putnam, CT. Thank you.

Hi Lavern, am not clear as to whether your Clement is in my line or not, but I will speak w/ my dad and see if it rings a bell w/ him. I do possess photos of my Gautreau clan in Canada and there is a Peter whose mother is also in the photo and she is definately of Indian heritage. I'll check into things and get back to you.

looking for Clement Peter Gotreau m. Rosetta Keene

My grandfather was Clement Peter Gotreau (married Rosetta Keene of Mass.) My father was Albert V. Gotreau (married Leona Holtby of Minn.) My dad also spelled his surname as Gautreau, when he was young. Clement died in Bangor, Maine in 1960. Rosetta died in Mass, 1981. I want to trace the family of Clement Peter--who was his father? I want to know if there's a relationship from David and Martha Gotreau of Mass. They married in the 30's. Their son is Andre, currently in Calif. Andre's son is Michael Gotreau of Minn. I'd love to talk. I live in the Minneapolis area of Minn.

My grandfather was Clement Peter Gotreau (marred Rosetta Keene of Ma). My father was Albert Valentine Gotreau (married Leona Holtby of Mn). Albert also spelled his surname as Gautreau, when he was young. I'd like to trace the family back through Clement Peter Gotreau. He died in Maine in 1960. Who were his parents, brothers, sisters? I'm also looking for a link to David and Martha Gotreau of Ma. I think he came from New Brunswick. Their son is Andre, now in Ca. Andre's son is Michael Gotreau in Mn. I live in the Minneapolis, Mn area. I'd really love to talk.

My grandfather was Clement Peter Gotreau (married Rosetta Keene of Mass, and had 1st child in 1916. My father was Albert V. Gotreau, born in 1920 (married Leona Holtby of Mn in 1944). Albert used to spell his name as Gautreau, also. I want to trace my family back through Clement Peter, who died in Maine in 1960. I'm told the family was from New Brunswick. One of his daughters, Alice Forbes Mccutcheon, said Peter was 1/4 Micmac Native American. I'd love to talk to you. I'm wondering if my Clement is your Clement Jr?

Dosithe Joseph GAUTREAU b. 4 Sep 1883, Tracadie, NB, Canada

I’m very new to genealogy and would have probably never started if I’d been warned about how addicting it is. OK, I was warned, but I didn’t think it applied to me.

It seems from what I’ve read so far that any GAUTREAU should be somewhat easily linked to one of the known lines, but I can’t seem to make a connection to any of them. The following is the little bit I’ve uncovered about my grandparents and great grandparents. Any further clues would be greatly appreciated.

My great grandparents:
Dosithe GAUTREAU b. Tracadie, New Brunswick, Canada
m. Lucille LOZIER b. Tracadie, New Brunswick, Canada
(This information is in a memory book from my grandfather’s funeral. I don’t know who filled it out, or how accurate any of the information is).

My grandparents:
Dosithe Joseph GAUTREAU b. 4 Sep 1883, Tracadie, New Brunswick, Canada d. 7 Jul 1952
m. Mary Ellen MALLY (name on my mother’s birth certificate), Helen Gantre MALLEY (name in memory book and listed as Helen on 1930 census) b. 29 Aug 1884, Tracadie, New Brunswick, Canada d. ? Jul 1975

They had 12 children, Clara, Harriet (died at 18 months), George, Bella, Mary (Harriet), Dosithe Jr., Catherine, Helen, Harold, Lucille, Sandy, David (died in infancy).

According to the 1930 census, Dosithe J. came to the US in 1903. Helen’s immigration year is listed as unknown. His occupation is listed as Laborer and as Chopper on my mother’s birth certificate.

The memory book from my grandfather’s funeral lists a floral offering from David GAUTREAU and family. This may be my grandfather’s brother. I have no information about whether or not he had any siblings.

Thanks!
Barbara

Birthfamily - born as Joanne Mary GAUTREAU 1960 in Toronto - mother 29 yr old of NB

I was born Oct 26, 1960 as Joanne Mary Gautreau to a 29 yr old unmarried woman who was kind enough to put me up for adoption.
Both my a-parents have passed away and I would like to me my b-family. My b-father was 21 at the time of my birth, and according to records did not know she was pregnant, she left NB to go to Toronto to have me. He was 2nd in a family of 4 kids, and a university grad in electronics (the field I am in now). She was one of 6 kids, her dad had passed away a few years before, there was an 18 yr difference between her mom and dad. They had known each other for 5 years, dated for a year. When my a-Mom died a few years ago, I found my adoption order that had my full name on it. I have since applied for and received my non-identifying info, which is where I got ages,
family stuff listed above.

any contact appreciated.
Nancy
(613) 836-8226

I am searching for my great grandparents birth and death dates and where they were born and buried. They were Patrick Gautreau and Ida (Williams) Gautreau. Ida's maiden name was Williams. They separated and some of their children were adopted out. Two of their children passed away recently (my grandfather's brother and sister). Their son Hector Joseph Gautreau died May 3, 2003, his wife was Mabel Gautreau who died November 2, 1991. Their daughter Valerie Gallent (Gautreau) died January 27, 2003. My grandfather, their son is still alive in Vancouver, British Columbia. His name is Norman Joseph Gautreau born February 17th, 1930 in Moncton, New Brunswick. He was married to my grandmother Joyce Muriel (Gautreau) McDougall but they separated and he married a woman named Lucille but my mother hasn't seen him since she was a little child. Is anyone doing research on this family tree?

Joseph Barba
