I see you have replied to someone from my original post looking for information on the Goetting/Getting family history. Fred was my g-g grandfather. My research shows Sophia immigrated in November 1865 to Freeport Illinois. I would love to have any information you have on the Goetting family and would be more than happy to share what I have with you as well. I would prefer to correspond directly.

Yes I would love to share family history with you. I do not have the exact dates of immigration but I do have John coming in November of 1863 and Charles in 1865. I have Fred as being married in 1865 in Illinois so he arrived prior to that date. Sophia is listed in the 1870 Census in Illinois. This is as close as it get. I do not have all my research notes at home today so cannot give any specifics. However if you are of the Charles family, I am wondering if your immidiate family ended up in Sanborn, Iowa. My grandfather was Lewis Getting, son of John. He farmed near George. They were referred to the George Gettings and some were referred to as the Sanborn Gettings to keep the families separated. If you would like to correspond,I prefer to do it direct. My family does not was recent information posted on the net. I have corresponded with Ray who lives is Des Moines as well as some from the Joseph line, Fred line and others in John's line. So I have extensive information. My e-mail is karen10@mchsi.com.

I am researching the Philipp and Sophia Goetting family. My connection is through Charles/Carl Getting. Looking for when Sophia arrived. Have immigration info on Charles, John, Fred. Any help would be appreciated. Not much info was passed on within the family so my info is through research. Willing to share my information and sources.

If you remember we corresponded a few years ago so I dont know if you are replying to me or exactly what. I asssume you are replying to "aljanp" who I got a message from who is related to Joachim. I would love to know of any new info you have on the Getting family. The last we corresponded would have been in 2006. My email address then was getting@havilandtelco.com. I have since moved and my email is now getting@pld.com.
David Getting

I would love to share what information I have with you. Some of what I have was gotten off the internet and some is from other people who are related in one way or another to the Getting name. I cannot vouch for the accuracy of my facts because I wasn't very diligent about keeping track of sources for my information. A lot of my info comes from newspaper clippings and obituaries my grandmother kept. There were 4 boys and 2 girls in the family. His brother Frederick was my g-g-g grandfather. I believe Joachim immigrated to this country around November 1865. If you would like to correspond direct my email address is getting@pld.com. I will be gone a few days on a trip but I will get back to you when I get home again.
David Getting

Wonderful to hear from someone looking for research on the Getting family. My G-Grandfather John C. immigrated to Illinois in Nov of 1863. A brother Charles arrived in 1865. Brother Fred married in Illinois in 1865. Do not know about sisters Maria and Fredricka. I have Joseph living with John C. in 1870 but do not know when he arrived. I have acquired quite a large portfolio on the Getting Family but like you most of it came from the internet. My family members do not want to share personal information over the internet but if you would like to contact me, I will gladly share what I have. The e-mail address is karen10@mchsi.com. I have heard from three other family members and we have shared information. I also have a picture of the current headstone in Grundy County of Joseph. Would your mother be Mary?

I hope you get this message, I am several years late. My g-g-grandfather was Joachim (Joseph) brother to John Getting. I have been looking for immigration information, but cannot find any. I know he was in Iowa by 1870. I would be glad to share any information that I have about the Getting family, although most of it is from internet.

Jan

My mother also had a box of obituaries. Unfortunately when she passed away, my sister didn't think they would be of interest to anyone so they were thrown away. I have not yet entered on the internet the family tree as I have it done. Although most of the information I have came from other websites. I have not found the immigration dates for the family yet. My g-g-grandfather John came to the US between 1859 and 1865. Do not know if other siblings came with him. He was married with one child at that time. Their mother Sophia also came after the death of her husband, who died in 1859. Do you have my e-mail. I would like to correspond directly?

Just read your query on Getting information. My g-g-grandfather John is a brother to your g-g-grandfather Fred. I have been trying to fill in the family tree, starting with Johan Martin Goetting, 1744-1820, from Germany. I currently have over 1,100 direct decendants of him. If you want to share any information I will be glad to respond.

I am looking for any information about the Getting family name. I do know the name spelling was changed from Goetting after my g-g-ggrandfather immigrated to the U.S. My grandfather was George Getting and great grandfather was George Getting Sr. who was married to Ettja (Anna) Penning. My g-g-grandfather Was Fred Getting and immigrated to the U.S. around 1864. He was born January 15 1840 in Mecklenburg Germany. He died Feb. 25 1932 in Grundy County Iowa. He was married to Wilhelmina Goodmann in Freeport Illinios in 1865. Any information anyone has would be greatly appreciated.
