My information is a bit different than yours.

Peter Gideon, who married Mary Catherine Ernest, was born in Philadelphia, PA, on 3-22-1752. He died on 2-4-1844 in Leesburg, Loudoun County, VA. Mary Catherine was born 1-12-1743, and died 8-13-1836 in Hillsboro, Loudoun Co.,VA.

Peter and Mary Catherine's son Henry was born 9-28-1798 in VA. He died 11-22-1882, and is buried in Bennett Cemetery in Madison, IA. Henry's wife was Nancy Anna Miller, DOB 9-28-1806 in Germany. She died 7-5-1869 and is also buried in Bennett Cemetery in Madison, IA. Peter and Mary Catherine also had a son named Peter, who was 9 years older than Henry. Peter and Mary Catherine also had a son named Valentine Miller Gideon, from whom I am descended. Check out the US Census 1850, Illinois, Sangamon County. I am sorry I am unable to attach the census. I found it on the FamilySearch.org website.

As for Peter who married Mary Catherine, HIS father was Peter Heinrich Gideon and he was born in Bavaria in 1726. He died in 1777. I do not know where. His wife's name was Nancy. I want to know more about Peter Heinrich Gideon who was born in Bavaria. Do you have any information?

My family line has Giddens/Gideon... coming to Tarrant County from Georgia. I think some of the Giddens did move to Dallas County. I'm not sure how to pursue trying to figure out if your dad is from the same Giddens/Gideon crew. There are still some Gideons nearby (Hood County), but I don't think that they would know anything about this. Is there any other information at all? Maybe the date he was orphaned?

Giddens / Gideon Mystery Adoption - Dallas, TX ~ 1955

Hello All,

My father was adopted in about 1955 from Dallas County (Texas) Municipal Adoption Agency (now defunct) at about age 5. His name was supposedly "Phillip Gideon(Giddens?)" at the time of adoption. His adoptive family had the birth certificate modified showing themselves as birth parents, changing his name and reporting the birth date 10.31.1949. My father has spoken about remembering a car crash when he was very young (3 or 4 ?) and vague memories of an older gentleman coming to visit him and bringing him fruit at the orphanage before he was adopted.

I have done a 67 STR Marker test through FTDNA, results at Ysearch:

http://www.ysearch.org/lastname_view.asp?viewuid=EQDTT&p...

My STR Marker Results seem to match me to Giddens/Gideon family, but that is all I have to go on as of now.

Please let me know if you have any ideas, rumors, tall-tales, etc. to share.

p.s. my father and I both have dark eyes, hair and complexion.

I know some just because I chased him down a little bit before realizing that I had the wrong Thomas. :) I don't know much, as I figured out early on that I had the wrong one, but I do know he was married and divorced from Josephine Oliver. If I remember right, they were divorced either by or soon after 1900. They had a son named Oliver (I think?)

Thomas was under scrutiny and is ALL over the MO newspapers for alleged prohibition violations. I don't know what the result was of that case, but I know that it went on for awhile!

I might be able to help more if you have specific questions.

Stuck on Gideon research

I'm researching my husband's family. He never really knew his father, Russell Gideon, who died in 2001 in California. I do know that Russell's father was Clyde Gideon, but I can't find who Clyde's parents were. I know these Gideons lived around Hannibal, MO. Clyde Gideon was born around 1902 in Missouri. That's all I know. Does anyone else have any information that might help? I'm wondering whether the problem is that the name might have been misspelled on census records.

Myra Gideon

C.W. Gideon and wife Eva... show up in 1880s census, and not before or after...

If anyone has any further information, I'd love to hear from you!

Family in 1880 census is listed as "Giddeons." I think it is an entry error, though, or else all of the kids changed their name to Gideon at the same time!

C.W. and Eva Giddeons Children:
Thomas (b. 1870)
Luther (b. 1873)
Effa V. (b. 1876)
Charles (b. 1879)

Thomas married Josephine Malone in 1894. Children:
Lewis F. (b. 1895)
Horace Malone (b. 1899)
Ruth H. (b. 1907)

Something must have happened to C.W. and Eva between 1880 and 1900, because Effie was living with Thomas at that point. They don't show up in any censuses (either before or after).

Thomas was in MO until the 1930 census, where he was in Tulsa, OK. (I find that interesting because the scandal involving the OTHER Thomas H. Gideon was going on at that point, so it makes me wonder if he was being mistaken for him and decided to leave?)

I keep thinking someone's gotta know something! It's almost like these people appeared from thin air and then disappeared with no trail!

My James Isham Gideon is also from Cork, Ireland born 1748 died 1832 In War Creek, Hawkins County, Tenn. His wife is listed as Martha "Pattie" Mills and perhaps of English descent. she died in 1834. they had five sons and two daughters. There marriage license was found in Wilkes Co..N.C. and was singed and sealed in the presents of W. Lenoir D.C.C. on the first day of February A.D. 1787

Henry Gideon Erie County Pennsylvania 1810

Looking for the parents of Henry Gideon – b. 25 Sep 1810 in Erie County, Pennsylvania, married to Lydia Bevelheimer (various spellings) in 1934/35 in Mauch Chunk, Pennsylvania, and d. 17 Dec 1868 in Root Township, Adams, Indiana. I have three leads: 1) In a biography of Henry’s sons, Francis E. “Frank” and John M., their grandparents are noted as having lived an died in Erie County, Pennsylvania, 2) In the same biography a note mentions that Frank had two uncles that served in the civil war. These uncles might be Gideon and thus brothers to Henry; and 3) I found a Silis [sic] Gideon in the 1820 McKean, Erie, Pennsylvania census – I have found no other Gideons in early Pennsylvania censi. Any help would be appreciated. Erie County is not on my beaten path. Perhaps there is a researcher out there that would trade for some Southern California research. I have the history to present day for Henry Gideon. I would be happy to help anyone with details.

I am also seeking information about Anjerona's parents. She is my ggg-grandmother on my maternal side. Any information would be greatly appreciated. It is my understanding that she was born in South Carolina?

Re: Gideons in Montgomery, Texas clarification

Jacqueline Gideon born 1933 in Montgomery TX, daughter of Joseph P. Gideon and Lillie Biggs, both buried in a cemetery outside Montgomery...Jackie married Gayle Senour Oliver in 1953 or 1954, had a son Eddie/Eddy (Edward Senour Oliver, born 1954) who we haven't seen since the early 1960's and are trying to locate him. Any help appreciated. Jackie likely remarried in the 60's, perhaps still living around Houston. Eddie/Eddy may be in Houston still. Thanks.

I am trying to find any info on the Gideon family that lived in Montgomery, TX back in the 40's and 50's. My uncle married a Jackie Gideon in the mid-50's and we've lost touch with she and her son Edward/Eddie. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.
