They had 3 sons (I don't know if there were any daughters), Mariano A. Gil b.18 Apr 1853 Monterey Co., CA; Jose Maria Gil, Jr. b.26 Dec 1856 Monterey Co., CA; Jose Miguel(your ancestor)de la Trinidad Gil b. 27 Dec 1857 Jolon, Monterey Co., CA., d.26 Jun 1919, Lanes Hospital, San Francisco, CA. My mom is a Gil, father Robert, grandparents Flavia and Miguel Maria Jose Gil of Tulare County, California. Their parents born in California except Flavia's dad born in MExico. Anyhow, remember hearing about McGill of Scottland and also the Gil Ranch (Jose Miguel dea la Trinidad )near Monterey, California, having a connection to our family. I am new to ancestry.com, when I figure out how to share my tree I will send to you if you wish,my mom had 14 aunts and uncles, I will bet there's some conncection here.

Most of the members we met (for the 1st time!) are also descendants of Agustin Fiacro Gil. My husband, is descended from Agustin's younger brother Leoncio "Tito" Gil. I can put you in touch with Rose Victoria "Viki" Campa Valenzuela. Her mother was Carmen Gil, b 1907 to Agustin & Luz (Salazar) Gil. "Viki", Ceasar Gil, Imelda Gil, Evelina Gil Zimmerman, John (Darwin)Gill Bree and his daughter Roseanne Bree were present at the reunion at the Hunter Restaurant in Oceanside, CA. Several days before that, "Viki, Ceasar, Imelda, Evelina traveled to King City to meet some more Gil cousins (Tom & Carol), visit the Gil Gravesites in King City, then go up to the Hunter Liggett Military Reservation where the Gil Adobe sits (Jolon, CA)The Gil Adobe is now on the Register of Historic Places, and is fenced off to the public, but you can get close enough to take good pics. My family is from mainland portugal , my father Miguel Gil was born in lisbon ( Costa de Caparica ) his father ( my grandfather ) Ricardo Gil was born in Spain ( not sure were ) but it was on the border of Spain and Portugal. His wife Paulina ( i think ) was from Port.. I dont know much beond my grandfather but i do know that my great granfather owned one fo the biggest Tuna companies in Spain ( again im told border of Portugal ) I think his name was also Ricardo Gil. i do know he died at around age 50 ( heart attack ) and his wife re-maried his brother. some years later they lost the tuna company. I live in Connecticut since the age 9 so i dont know much else. and i have not seen my father who still lives in lisbon ( i think ) ..i also know that my great gandfather had 3 sons and one was disabled later in life due to some sort of accident...all 3 sons became music composers ( piano ) and were very succesfull professors..im told my father is also a composer and is a professor in lisbon... if anyone has any info please reply to me directly to rgildoss@comcast.net..thank you

i dont know if this is any help but my father was born in lisbon in the 1940's his name was Alfredo Ferreira Gil his parents lived in salvaterra da magos he had 3 brothers who have all passed away and 1 sister who lives in Canada hope this helps!!

Hello everyone my name is Robert Gil III from San Antonio, Texas. I was born on june 27,1985. Just in case anyone has any questions my father is still alive. He lives here in San Antonio but was born in Los Angeles and lived in California for quite a while before I was born He is about 44 to 48 years of age at this time. He was not in the military. He got married when he was around fifteen in California but it didn't last too long.

My grandmothers name was Esperanza Gil. She was orphaned in the Mexican revolution along with her brother who was said to have moved to Texas. She was kidnapped by a woman and stayed in Mexico city. I believe her father was from Sevilla. So she lost all ties to her family. Ill ask my mother his name, maybe there's a connection.

Trying to locate any ancestry links from my family in Colombia, South America. My family did not keep records of anyone past my great grandparents so I am trying to patch family past together. Last known Gil was my Great GrandPa Eliovildo Gil (not sure about his first name spelling) who was a Mayor in Santander, Colombia. His son Leovijildo Gil was also a Mayor in that region and married my grandma Blanca Mejia. My mother moved to the Bogota, Colombia then to NYC.

My Great Grandmother was Victoria Gil Snider. She was born in 1870 in Jolon, CA. She was married to David Newton Snider. They had 7 children including my grandfather Wesley William Snider. Is this the Victoria you are looking for? What is your mother's connection? Thanks.

this is really funny. I am from mexico, my dad's name is martin Manuel Gil II but he tells me that we have Mayan ancestor's from my grandma/his mom's side of the family, and I know that the Mayan people are origionally from peru. I think there is a possibility that we may be related.

We currently live in San Antonio, Texas. I was looking for information on my fathers back ground which he and his father were was raised by his uncle Marcelo Gil. His fathers name is Juan Gil and his mother passed when he was 6 months old her name was Manuela Navarro Gil. My father Adam Gil is the youngest of 11 children which one of his sisiters dies of breast cancer and his oldest brother died Juan Gil Jr he was pretty old. See the Thing I'm doing know if trying to get back in touch with his family history and maybe lift his spirits to finding out that there is more Gil Family Blood Line. We have been distant from his side of the family and maybe to find more of his history I can get them back together cause there not that young anymore.

I was born in Ca. but I have family from my mother's side that is from Tepantla, Jalisco.
Is your family familiar with Pedro Flores? He is still alive and he is married to Timotea Jimenez-Flores. They have 13 children (one being my mother Hortencia), but one uncle Pedro Flores (after my grandfather) died in 1986-he is buried in Tepantla. Another uncle is named Salvador and went missing in the 1970's.
My grandfather was born in 1931 so maybe he knows or knew your relative Donato

I have found a little more information, Victor Manuel Gil was born Victor Manuel Gil Gomez in 1896 Paita, Peru. His father was a Judge in Paita, his name was Victor Manuel Gil Bedon & his mother was Carmen Gomez Sojo. Victor and Carmen had 3 children:
Victor Manuel Gil Gomez
Juana Virginia Gil Gomez
Barsabaz Gil Gomez
Victor Manuel Gil Bedon also had 2 sisters who were nuns in Paita, Peru.
