I am researching the Gilding family here in Toronto, Canada. Since my library membership gives me free access to searching over 100 years in two of the three Toronto newspapers, it is great to be able to get all the obits, birth announcements, memoriams and marriage announcements (and for free - whooppee!!) If you would like, I can be reached at violinist@rogers.com. Rheta Katherine Fee

It now appears that Victor and his wife, Mary, had a daughter Debbie (maybe Deborah?) but it is not known where or when she was born, but probably Maine(?) I am wondering if anyone is able to locate any details of the birth of this daughter? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in anticipation, Bruce Gilding

Many thanks for the information. There does not appear to be any children but somewhere between 1938 and 1942 Victor and his wife separated, as according to the directory they were not living together. I don;t believe there was a divorce, so it was possibly just a split. Thank you for your help.
Bruce Gilding

Richard Gilding and Elizabeth Tamiln were married at St. Marychurch, Devon on 23 Feb 1767 by Banns. The Banns were read on 31 Jan, 7 Feb and 14 Feb of that year. I am a Gilding directly related to Elizabeth and have a fairly complete history of my family back to around 1550, with much of it fully sourced.
My family comes from St. Marytchurch and I have been researching my line of the Gilding family for 20 years. I have traced the family from St. Marychurch in Devon to New Zealand, South Africa, Holland, and of course, Australia. I have just found a member of the family migrated to the USA in the 1860's and am tracing that line at present. You can contat me directly by email at bruice.gilding@bigpond.com.
Reagrds, Bruce Gilding

Thankyou for your response. The Price connection with the Tamlins is probably somewhat remote from your search as it seems that Eliza's father, Edward Tamlin moved from Exeter(St Marychurch) to Hampshire before Eliza's marriage in 1852. It was in Hampshire that she married James Price.
My interest in the Tamlins and Gildings started when I noticed that two of Eliza's children had the middle name Tamlin and one had the middle name Gilding. When I then looked at St Marychurch records it was evident that these names were of local families.
My suspicion is that Edward Tamlin was related in some way to a Gilding and this is the line of enquiry I am intending to follow.
I would be interested to know when Richard Gilding and Elizabeth Tamlin married.
My interest was reignited when I drove through St Marychurch a few weeks ago. I hope to get to the Devon records office in Exeter shortly. Should I find anything of interest I will let you know.
Regards
John Gregory
Sorry to say that at this point I have nothing about Eliza in my records. Our line comes from St Marychurch but the Tamlin name comes into it with the marriage of Richard Gilding and Elizabeth Tamlin. We also have a lot of names with Tamlin as their middle names but none have married a Price. Do you have any other Gildings in your tree?

Hi
I'm not sure how relevant this is to you, but no harm in trying!!
My great great grandmother was Eliza Tamlin born in 1825 and whose father was Edward Tamlin. She was born in St Marychurch Devon but married James Price in Fareham Hampshire in 1852. One of her six children was named William Gilding Price, Others had the middle name Tamlin. I can only assume that she was related to the Gilding family and other information seems to relate the two families.
Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.
