Any information regarding my father Reginaled Edwin Gilling,(1925-2001) his half brother Charles may have retained the name Townley. There father Edwin Victor Gilling,( 1897-1977) his wife Emma Maud Townley/Sonsom. At some time between 1950 and 1980 they lived at 111 Sherrards Way, Barnet, Hertfordshire, England.

Joseph was also my great, great great grandfather!
Joseph's fourth child was called Jane Gilling who married William James. Jane and william had a son called Sydney who married Hilda Rice. Sydney and Hilda had a daughter called Evelyn, Evelyn, My gran married Dennis Hastings and had 5 children. Jean Hastings their only daughter is my Mum!

I think that your family tree is about to get somewhat bigger!

Hello,
have just discovered that my husband's great grandmother was born a Gilling - she was born Ethel May Gilling in 1898 in Taunton, Somerset, to Susan Elizabeth Gilling, father unknown. Susan then married a Mr Fishlock and Ethel took on his name. I believe Susan was born abt 1880 in Burrington or Wrington, Somerset, and from census information I think she was the daughter of Joseph Gilling (born abt 1852 Burrington) and Susan, and that Joseph was the son of William Gilling (born abt 1820 Burrington) and Jane.
I wondered if anyone had any links to any of the above?

My Great Great Grandfather's name is John Gilling he was born Sept 7, 1857 in England. He had immigrated to Canada when he was 5 yrs old in 1862 cause his mother was going to put him into a home due to his step-father didn't like him.

My Great Grandfather was Joseph Lawrence Gilling b. April 1, 1890 in St. Thomas Ontario Canada.

My Grandfather was Frank John Richard Gilling b.June 19, 1910 in
St. Thomas Ontario Canada

My mother was born Gloria Gilling she was born b. Feb 17, 1943 in St. Thomas and she currently lives here in Michigan.

Besides MY GG Grandfather he's the only Gilling I know of that was born in England like you I'm searching for other Gillings born in England but i'm having no luck. Maybe what I've written to you might help.

my Gilling ancestors are from Worksop Nottingham UK, from 1815 till at least 1920's- haven't traced any living ones, but searching for relatives

I am trying to gather data on Robert Gilling born around 1813 in Cheddar, Somerset England.

At the time of the 1861 Census taken in Weston Super Mare Somerset he has a wife Phoebe Gilling , born about 1809 in Wedmore Somerset England.
I have been unable to find a marriage or death for either of them .
They also at the time of the Census had a daughter born about 1844 also in Chedder called Eliza Gilling.
Can add however that I have found Eliza on the 1871 Census married? to James Evans ( actual birth name John James) along with two daughters and one son.
Any help would be appreciated.
