Quoting from a private note: Lodowick's children from the" History of Rockbridge Co., Virginia" In there it says Ludowick married Anne ____ and d 1812. Children: Henry, Samuel, others(they do not say who the others were).
Samuel m. Lydia Alison, 1817 and Samuel married (again) Ann Croddy in 1838.

Henry m. Patsy Alison in 1817."

Based on this, the Henry, son of Lodowick, is NOT the Henry Sr from Fayette Co IL, whose travels are spelled out in his Rev War pension application, who had 15 children starting in about 1789.

John
Henry Ginger Sr, Fayette Co IL Rev War pension application 1832

Henry Ginger's Declaration for a Pension

State of Illinois, Fayette County. On this nineteenth day of October, eighteen hundred and thirty-two before the Hon. Theophilus W. Smith, Judge of the Circuit Court for the County of Fayette aforesaid, personally appeared in open Court, Henry Ginger, a resident of the County of Fayette, State of Illinois, aged seventy-five years on the fourth day of April next, who being first duly sworn according to law, doth on his oath make this following declaration in order to obtain the benefit Of the Act of Congress passed June 7, 1832.

That he was born in Middletown Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania April 4, 1758, as he believes but has no record of his age, that he enlisted for three years at the City of Philadelphia, as near as he can recollect, in the fall of 1776 in Capt. Walter Denny's Company in the Seventh Pennsylvania Regiment, commanded by Col. Butler as he thinks, and in a short time was marched to join the troops under Gen. Washington at a point on the Delaware, where Washington crossed the troops the night before the Battle of Trenton -- that he crossed with the troops and was in that battle -- that his memory is so defective that he cannot recollect where he was employed until the Battle of Brandywine, in which battle he was, which was fought in warm weather -- he was with Washington's troops, and after which he cannot say which way he went, but thinks that, the winter after he staid at the Valley Forge. In the year 1778 he thinks he was all the time in the State of Pennsylvania, but cannot remember what service he was employed in. The next year the most he can remember was a battle between two regiments of American troops, and some British and Hessions near the town of Doylestown, Pennsylvania, in which battle the Americans were successful, but this deponent with about eight others, being ordered to attack a particular point occupied by the enemy, was cut off by the Cavalry and with forty-four others was taken prisoner, and was carried to the City of New York and was imprisoned in a church for three months and three weeks, when - that upon an exchange of prisoners he was released, and returned to his home in Cumberland County aforesaid -- his time of enlistment being then about out. In the Battle of Doylestown Capt. Denny was killed. That he received a discharge at Carlisle, Penn., which some years since he left with a brother-in-law, but who is now dead, and he knows not what became of it.

After the war, as near as he can recollect, he lived in Cumberland County between fifteen and twenty years, afterwards removed to North Carolina, where he remained ten or twelve years, when he removed to East Tennessee and from thence to West Tennessee, in which state he lived somewhere about fifteen years - and from there to the State of Illinois in this, county, where he has resided for this ____ years.

That the Rev. Francis Brown and William Nichols, his neighbors, have known him for some time, and will testify as to his character for veracity, and their belief of his service as a Soldier of the revolution. That he knows of no person by whom he can prove any of his service aforesaid, neither has he any document by which he can establish them or strengthen his statement.

He hereby relinquishes every claim whatever to a pension or annuity except the present and declares that his name is not on any pension roll of the agency of any state. Sworn to & subscribed the _________________ his _________________ day and year aforesaid
Wyatt Berry, CLC Henry x Ginger
mark

We Francis Brown, a clergyman residing in the County of Fayette and William Nichols residing in the same hereby certify that we are well acquainted with Henry Ginger, who has subscribed and sworn to the above declaration - that we believe him to be seventy four years of age, that he is reputed and believed in the neighborhood where he resides to have been a soldier of the Revolution, and that we concur in that opinion.
Signed by above.

Henry Ginger received a pension of $80.00 per annum, certificate issued 11 April, 1833, pension retroactive to 4th March, 1931. Recorded Book C, Volume 8, page 57 in Fayette Co. The pension was increased by a second act in 1838.

Note: There is no personal information on the declaration. Soldiers did not have to give any personal information, but widows did, and often they tore sheets out of the family Bible to provide the marriage, dates of children, etc.

Source: Fayette Facts, Vol X-1, Mar 1981, pp 95-96

Ludwick Ginger

I see on this Ginger board that Ludwick Ginger's wife was named Anna Riddle. Is there a marriage record that confirms that or can you tell me why you think Anna Riddle is his wife? The reason I ask is that I have a transcript of Daniel Doyle (Diehl)'s will that lists his children as heirs. One of them is "Solowick Ginger and his wife Ann Ginger ... of Rockbridge Co, VA" This looks like Ann is Ann Doyl (Diehl), daughter of Daniel.

I am a researcher of the Beets family. Margaret Diehl married Peter Beets. Margaret is also listed as an heir of Daniel.
Luwick Ginger is in the 1790 Cumberland Co, PA census living close to George Bitts (Beets). The Beets family also lived in Cumberland Co until 1792 when they left to live in Rockbridge Co, VA. So the families traveled together.

I can type in the full typescript that I have listing all Daniel Doyle (Diehl)'s heirs if you like.

Diane Beets Moore

I think I have the same line, but haven't found the missing link yet! My Gingers are from Aston Clinton/Buckland and Walton - all VERY close to Aylesbury.
So far I've got back to JOHN GINGER, who married ELIZABETH SIRED in 1802 in Aston Clinton. Their children were Lot, Joseph, John, Mary and Elizabeth born 1803 - 1817.
In the AC Bapt. register there were 3 entries I couldn't fit to my tree (yet). 1780 Apr 30 Mary d/o Joseph and Elizabeth GINGER. 1775 Jul 2 Elizabeth d/o Joseph and Elizabeth GINGER. 1799 Feb 24 Daniel GINGER s/o John and Esther GINGER. Hope this helps. Also got a few Gingers from the burial register of Aston Clinton -the only Job Ginger mentioned was buried Sept 23 1826 age 31 years, so born c.1795 if you think others might help, please get back to me.

Also, if you check out A2A.org.uk, you might find your Job mentioned - some conection with Hartwell House? Can't remember all the details...

Penny

Hi, I'm trying to research this Ginger line.
Henry Ginger and Chaney Luster, (there are different spellings for her first name), were the parents of David Ginger, b. 1798. David's wife was Sarah A. Johnson, b. 1804.
Their son was Nimrod Porter Ginger, b. July 25,1829 in TN. Nimrod's daughter Mahala Jane was the GGrandmother to my husband's mom.
I would love to have all the help I can get to further this line and I do have some letters from family with personal info on this line. Please email me at feetrest@aol.com.
Thanks, Carol Helms

Hi Mike, I think you have may have another link to my husband's family. His mother Grace Ellen McDaniel was born 1915 in Clever Mo., Christian Co. Her father was James Wm. McDanial, born Nov. 15, 1865( in KY, I think). His father was William Mathers McDaniel. Do you think your James Leroy McDaniel could be related to these McDaniels?
I can't find any other info so far on William McDaniel, except that his wife was Delilah Scruggins. I do know that they were all back in Christian Co. Mo. on the 1900 and 1910 Census.
Looking forward to hearing from you. Carol

He was b. in VA (probably W VA) and died in Delaware Co in 1891.

James Alexander GINGER, (1819 VA-1897 IA), may have been his brother. He was married to Mary Jane HART.

They may have lived in Champaign Co, OH, prior to moving to IA.

Looking for any information about the ancestry or siblings of Andrew L.

Any help will be appreciated.

John S.
Malone/Ginger marriage Pulaski co MO ca 1920

A "Mr. Ginger" was married briefly in Richland, Pulaski, MO to Henrietta Malone, nee Heiner, during the early 1920s. She was divorced from J. A. Malone after 1918-20. Apparently this marriage did not last long, due either to divorce or death on his part. Does anyone in the Ginger family have a clue on this one? All advice welcome.
