Have done ext research upon this ancestor of my wife. Born in Canada and has extensive family tree to first settlers in Quebec. You should have an article in the Kankakee Times at your library re murder and related articles at the time of the murder. Any questions will be glad to reply. Steve Brennan

I am the Investigations Commander with the Kankakee City Police. We are trying to get information on Frank Girard, the police officer, who was shot in Kankakee. If we can get enough information, especially if the case against Henry Lamoureaux, who confessed in Chicago went to court we can get Henry's name put on the wall for fallen officers at the monument in Washington DC. If anyone has researched this or can assist please contact me at Rmpasswater@citykankakee-il.gov.

Good Evening-

Thank you, Colonel, for writing your kind note. My thoughts are the same as yours. Combined positive efforts by individuals as well as countries is to everyones mutual benefit now and in the future.

When I am researching, I find the most amazing family history in some of the strangest places. I would never have thought that so much about a person could have been found in a city directory. I had to share it. This is not someone in my family history at this point but I couldn't let this amazing person go unnoticed.

My best wishes for your successful family history search.

Laurel Manning
Illinois, USA

My mother was a Girard, but not related to Steven who came from the Bordeaux area I believe while her ancestor came from Normandy.

My daughter is currently living in Philadelphia and upon our next visit, I will endeavor to visit that school that he has established for the underprivileged children.

Our countries need more of this kind of people to help us construct a better society.

Jean-Marie Matteau, Colonel (retired)
Gatineau, Québec, Canada.

Please email me at melissa@hammell.us

It is so exciting to make a connection with my Girard line. To refresh the info you have about my line, My grandmother was Geraldine Ethel Girard, her father was Horace Floyd Girard and his parents were (as far as I know) Charles Girard and Lucille Girardin(e)from Clifton, QC. My GGrandfather Horace went back and forth between QC and NH a few times before immigrating permanently to Michigan which is where my Grandmother Geraldine was born. Would love to learn more about the Girard's and Girardin's!

I hope some one can help me. I have tired with absolutely no luck to locate the origins of my gGrandfather /mother. Their names were Joseph M Girard born 1868 in Michigan and Jennie M Turpin(cannot confirm this). I have them showing up in Erie County NY starting in 1900 but other than that I can find no record of them...According to the census info I have collected they were married in Michigan and she was born in Indiana with her father being born in Kentucky. He was born in Michigan. But he contradicts himself about the origins of his parents. As of the 1930 census they hailed from France. They had 10 children: Blanche Girard b.1890 – Indiana.. Clauch Girard b.1893 – Indiana ...Frank b. 1900 - NY... Grace M b.1902-NY...Josephine b.1906-NY.... Raymond b.1908-NY... Norman b.1912-NY (my gfather) and Ethel b.1914 They resided in Erie county for as thier entire life from 1900 on and as for thier children I do not know other than my gfather stayed and raised my father and Aunt an Uncle there....I know this was long winded and apologize but any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Victor Louis Girard from Rapides Parish

I'm looking for any information on Victor Louis Girard, from Rapides Parish, Louisiana. His parents were Louis Girard and Mary Josephine Girard. Louis died and Mary remarried into the John Leckie family. Victor was married up to seven times, but the only information I can find on him is my great grandmother's marriage to him, Verdie Mauras. He lived in Louisiana his whole life, born in 1889 and died sometime in the 1950's. His last wife's name may have been Lela.

I hear he had several other children, but I've only been able to confirm my grandfather. Being married so many times, surely there is more information floating around out there somewhere.

Any information is appreciated!

Peter Eugene Girard - Ohio

I am trying to find out what happened to my gr-great grandfather Peter Eugene Girard. Was married to Catherine "Kitty" McNulty from 1893 until she died in 1908. Was listed as last living in Cuyahoga Falls, Summit, Ohio on the 1900 US census. A foreman for the railroad. When Kitty died, the children were farmed out to various family members according to my great grandmother Stella (Estelle Girard) Wherley.
He was born in Tuscawaras Ohio, but his family is from France. Amblans, I believe.
Any help would be most appreciated!
Kind regards,
Heather Jernigan (Boehm > Downing > Wherley > Girard)

I just came across your post from sept. 2005.

I am looking for any information on Francois -Xavier Girard who was married to Elizabeth Savard. I have heard that there is native in this blood line but don`t know on which side. Their daughter Virginie married Henri Pearson and one of their children Yolande married Cyrille Godbout, my parents. Both of my parents are deceased and because I was adopted never met them. I have found my biological siblings and my one brother is the one who said he thought there was native in the blood line.

Sherri

bonjour Lacey:

Thomas and Eusebe were married in Quebec. Therefore their ancestry can be established in Quebec. Most likely descendants of Pierre Girard and Suzanne De Lavoie. I am currently working on the family history of Joachim Girard who emigrated to Canada from France at about the same time as Pierre: about 1665.

What are you looking for?

contact me for further arrangements at : jjmmatteau@sympatico.ca

Jean-Marie (John)

bonjour Cynthia:

It would be rather impossible to demontrate that the Joachim and Jean's ancestry do connect in the pre-1700 century in Europe.

However, the database of descendants of Joachim in North America does I believe contain some intermingling via marriages of both sources of Girard. I have made some annotations in capturing the data. Here is one case:

Joachim's grand daughter, Catherine Rouillard married Louis Girard, a descendant of Jean and Racin.

Jean-Marie

I know that my great grandfather was born in Massachusetts (Aime) and later moved to Pennsylvania and that his father (Thomas) was from Quebec. The exact town names that I have came from a little looking around on here but I have no certainty that they are correct.

Hello Cynthia Watt
I'm a direct descendant of Jean. The only thing missing for that article is that Jean had an addition to his name which was "Rang Drang" after Girard. The source of this I had trouble sorting as no Dutch I new could translate it. Finally I found a Medieval Latin Poetry Professor who was Bulgarian and spoke also Finnish, Swedish,as well as a half a dozen other languages suggested that in Swedish meant perhaps Field worked or labourer anyhow. Looks like the info you've got is what I've read for years in lots of documents. You can contact me directly at wychwoodcraft@rogers.con
