It took me longer than I thought it would to find it, but I have the picture ready now. I have a copy of his death certificate, his obituary, his headstone, and his social security card, too. I just don't know how to get them to you. I clicked on your username, but I don't have a paid ancestry subscription, so it won't let me contact you other than here. My email address is drob1787@gmail.com. If you'll send an email so I can get your address, I'll send the stuff right away.
Can you please GIVE Donna my love and ask your mom if she has any pictures of the Keith side of the family?? Unfortunately, my Uncle Ed is the only person from that side of the family that speaks to my sister and I. We have no other connections to the family other than Donna, Ed and Uncle Wayne. I've always been very fond of Lemuel Keith but never saw a clear picture of him. I'm not even sure why because in all the stories from Grandma Faye, she didn't talk much about them.

Oh, my, I love Donna! Her brother Jerry was like an uncle to me and when my dad and Jerry died in the same week, your mom was there for me. I'm still in touch with Christina and Lesa to this day.

Marcella wasn't a niece, she was actually Grandma Faye's daughter (from a different relationship) but wasn't raised as so. She was raised by our Aunt Doris who owned a store in Dow. We weren't aware of her true relation until about 10 years ago. Our family and their sense of pride... I wish it was different. Grandma Nona had two daughters through a previous marriage named Barbara and Edith and they didn't live with my grandmother either. My Uncle Ed still lives in Dow- right across the street from my Grandparents little house, that was handed down to my cousins who stripped the land of trees (making it look sad).

Such a small world! I was last in Oklahoma in 2007 and I have pictures of all of the graves of my family, including Louise, Jerry and the child's grave. I believe the name was Amy but it has been a while since I've looked at them.

My mom, Donna Roberts, is Louise Keith Smith's daughter. Grandma Louise and Aunt Faye were sisters. I spent a week with Aunt Faye a couple of times during the summer in my early teens. She was a great lady. Thank you for the information about Marcella, too. I didn't know she wasn't a child of Agle's. Was she a niece of his? I have them in the 1930 census living together in Dow, OK. The entry includes Agle Gizzi, 30, Faye, 27, Eugene, 10, and Wynona, 8.

Thank you for that information. I grew up seeing my Great Grandmother Faye almost on a daily basis because she was very close to my dad (her grandson). I also knew about the cemetery because all of my dad's family are mostly buried there, including him. I appreciate the information you did have, although, I wanted to tell you Marcella wasn't Agle's child.

Are you a relation from the Keith side or by marriage with the Browns?

Faye was my aunt. I have a little information on Agle Gizzi:
He was born Sep 26, 1900, in Oklahoma. He and Faye married on Oct 26, 1919, in Hartshorne, Pittsburg Co., OK. He died on August 18, 1950, and is buried in Elmwood Cemetery in Hartshorne, Pittsburg Co., OK. I believe that he and Faye had four children, though: Eugene Gizzi (1920-1979), Wanona L. Gizzi (1922-1997), Marcella A. Gizzi, and Alice Faye Gizzi.

Hi Snowmoon

Pleased to 'meet' you. It is exciting isn't it! The Gizzi family are certainly spread around the world. I have a few different connections on my tree into the Gizzi family. My main link is through my great great great grandmother Serafina Carmina Gizzi born 1841, who according to my computer is Vincent's third cousin twice removed. (I'm glad the computer worked that out because I think I would have struggled!) I also have an interest in Vincent's father Michele due to an incident which was very well hushed up in my family. A skeleton in our closet!! Does Vincent recall his father ever having mentioned being stabbed in the leg at a wedding in Glasgow in 1890? If so I know who the perpetrator was - his cousin Loreto (Serafina's son) who was my great great grandmother's older brother. I found Loreto on a census in 1901. The secret had been so well hidden by the family that my grandmother thought her grandmother had been an only child. I have lots of the court papers and newspaper reports from the time.

The Gizzi's were from a small town called Picinisco. A wonderful gentleman by the name of Michel Vacca of Belgium has been putting together the genealogy of the town and he is very generous with his data. Through him I have details of this line back to the start of the 1600s. The website is here http://www.picinisco.net/index.php Its defintiely worth a visit and you can post there too.

Anything I can help with just ask. Its great to have amassed all of this data and to be able to share it with someone who understands the excitement!

Marisa xx

Maybe he is 93, I don't ask directly!

He was raised by his older sisters as his parents died when

he was young. He came to the states later in life. His

sister Pasque? (Esther renamed) married a man named Elmer

Leonard. They lived in Yountville, California but never

had children. Vincent has 5 children. I have tried to get

him to write down what he knows but the book we sent him

was misspalced by them.

We have some Gizzi's from Cleveland. My husband is Charles Gezze (Name changes from Gizzi). His father was Charles Gezze. His parents were Alberto (1893-1948) and Rose(1899-1985) they lived and died in cleveland, ohio. I think Alberto's father is Agusto Gizzi, born about 1863 but that is sketchy. I am at a dead end with them. If I find anything else, I'll let you know. I think Alberto and Edidio were brothers.

Hi Patricia and Jacki

Patricia - I hope you see this - it is ten years since you posted! I have been looking at my records and know this line of Gizzis back to a couple who married in 1610.

Vincent and Dominic were the children of Michele Gizzi, (born Picinisco, Italy 28 Sep 1868, and died Glasgow, Scotland 12 Aug 1922), and his wife Marie Annie Decoir (aka Decorier), born London, England c1875. They married 22 Sep 1891 at St Andrews Cathedral, Great Clyde St, Glasgow, Scotland.

The children I have for them so far are Alexander born c1893 Beith, Ayrshire, Mary c1897, Anna c1900, Dominic 18 Aug 1901, Gaetana c1906, Pasqua c1912 (all born Glasgow) and Vincent c1917 - but I don't know his birthplace.

I think (but I'm not 100% sure) that Alexander married Violet Evans. Anna may have married someone by the surname of Estero. I think her second husband was Ronald Cameron. Dominic married Agnes Connley.

Marie Annie Decoir/Decorier appears under a rainbow variety of different surnames on various censuses. She appears to be the daughter of Charles Decorier (Born Genoa c1838)and Annie Smith (born c1851, Clerkenwell, London)

Michele was the son of Giuseppe Vincenzo Gizzi (b 17 May 1836, Picinisco, died 1905 Glasgow), and Pasqua Valente (b 31 Mar 1839, Picinisco, died 1911 Glasgow). They married 25 Oct 1862 in Picinisco.

I have loads more info. I hope this is of interest.

Marisa

i have researched my gizzi line in italian records and church records. i too have come across the same issue, frequently gizzi and izzo are used interchangeably in the church records especially. not a big deal, look for both spellings. they mean the same - from or out of egypt.

my great-great grandfather was also named raffaele gizzi, born in 1837 in gioia sannitica, family originally from civitella. the oldest relative i have found so far was born in 1693. unfortunately for me the church records for the period prior to 1780 have been lost or destroyed from their parish. notary records have helped some. i wish you better luck.

Hi. My line resided in Hazleton, PA. Raffaele Gizzi was my great grandfather. My problem is that the name may not have been Gizzi in Italy, possibly Gizzo or Guzzi. I just keep reaching dead ends in all my research because I can't confirm the original name. Cemetary records seem to have disappeared. Raffaele was born approx. 1848 and died prior to 1912 in PA.

I am fascinated with my paternal Italian side for the time being!! I think its my love of the sun, wine and eating al fresco that makes me want to pursue this trail and be totally smitten with the Italian way of life! I do believe there has to be something in the genes - even if it is very watered down!!

I have found out more in the last 24 hours than I have in my whole life!! Thanks Suzanne. what I find interesting is the names that keep getting used in each generation. My grandmother Olinda Gizzie named her firstborne Louis Josepi (my uncle)after her father, she named her second borne Michael Angelo (my dad)after her grandfather, and my dad insisted that his son (my brother) be called Michael also!!! (my mum drew the line at the Angelo addition!!) So my great great grandfather was Michele Angelo Gizzi and my great great grandmother was Nicolina Pagliaro who originated from Picinisco. Che fantastico!!
I will certainly be going to Picinisco when I am Italy for the year in September.
If there is any more info to divulge - I am all ears.
Thanks again.
Lisa

Michele Angelo Gizzi is my third cousin five times removed. Our nearest common ancestor on the male line is Giovanni Pasquale Gizzi who was born in Picinisco on 18 Mar 1698/99.

I am fascinated by the connection to Wales because my great great great grandmother - Serafina Carmina Gizzi died in Swansea in the 1870s. I had no idea of a family connection to Wales before then and figured that she must have had family there. Her married name was Palombo.

I just love finding more cousins!

Marisa xx
