Robert H. Honner was my grandfather. His son was Robert A. Honner (my father). Dr. Honner died in Detroit in 1900. He was a surgeon. Dr. Honner was one of a number of children of a Robert Honner and Paul Honore was the child of one of Dr. Honner's siblings. I have that list tucked away in a trunk. I've never found one Honner relative and am very excited to hear from you. I wish there were a way to communicate directly. Please let me know if you'd like to know more about Dr. Honner. He sadly died when my father was 4 1/2 but my father told me stories about him and I have pictures and his framed medical degrees and letters he wrote to my grandmother Leila who lived to be around 90.

Thank you for posting! I sent you a message regarding this. Your cousin is Paul Honore? He is my cousin also. His grandchildren and I just can't figure out how. And, we could never figure out how Dr. Honner fit in. I pieced together that his father was Thomas (Ireland>Canada), but we have so many Thomases in the family and this one was older and did not seem to fit in anywhere specifically. Do know Thomas had a sister, Mrs. Catherine (Honner) Taylor in Canada. Please email me. P.S. Many of the Honners in Canada spell the surname Honor also.

If you are related to Dr. Robert H. Honner, born Waterford, Ireland, 1856, and wife Leila Emma Dymond Honner, you are related to me. He had a number of brothers and sisters and I am looking for information on how to contact their descendants as they would be my cousins. One cousin was Paul Honore, an artist who painted the murals on the Midland, MI County Court House. He changed the spelling of his last name back to the original spelling when he became a professional artist. One of Dr. Honner's sisters was name Mattie (sp?). Dr. Honner was baptized in Waterford at Trinity Anglican Cathedral before he and his family left Ireland when he was a small child. Please share any information on any appropriate Honner relatives.

Perhaps the easiest way to learn whether you have Viking blood is have your DNA tested to determine your basic Haplogroup. Look for a SOMERVILLE DNA study. If you are a man you can submit your own cheek swab, but if a female, you will need to find a male SOMERVILLE of your line who would be willing to donate his DNA.

My brother donated his cheek swab for me, and lo & behold, we are Vikings!
My ancestor was William Glendinning, born Torthorwald about 1804x1811. He married Margaret Ferguson at Dumfries Parish Church in 1831 and worked as a sawyer in Dumfries (St.Michaels Street). By 1861 he was a sawyer in Troqueer (Church Street).

They had 7 known children -
1) Mary Glendinning, born about 1832. She married (as his 2nd wife) James Gardiner, a coachman of Anwoth. She died in Dumfries in 1883, having had 7 children.
2) William Ferguson Glendinning born about 1835. He married Robina Graham Turner in Dumfries in 1854. Worked as a builder, and lived in Greenbrae Lane, Dumfries. They had 13 children.
3) Agnes Glendinning, born about 1839. Married David Kirk, a slater of Loreburn Street in Dumfries in 1861.
4) John Glendinning born about 1843. A blacksmith.
5) Jane Glendinning, born about 1846.
6) Janet Glendinning born about 1850.
7) James Glendinning, born 10th May 1855.

Does this tie in with anyone else's Glendinnings?

Hi John,
My name is Keith Glendinning and I was born here in Hartlepool. I am 68 years old and have one brother, Barrie John who is 67 years old. My father wa called Herbert Glendinning, born 16th April 1914. he had two brothers called Tom and John. Their father (my grandfather) was also called John and he was Gentlemans Barber in the town. He had several barber shops around the town, one being next to the North Steelworks, and another just off Lynn Street near to one of the old pubs. My father was born at 11 Derby Street in Hartlepool, but I believe his father may have come from one of the colliery towns. My father's brother Tom never married, but John married and had 2 or 3 children. My mother (Tessie Harrington) didn't get on with that side of the family, so as children Barrie and I weren't allowed to see them!!Unfortunately they're all deceased now, so I can't ask
anyone.
I have two children, Corinne aged 37 and Grant aged 36. Corinn has a Masters in Physical Chemistry and hopes to teach soon, but is raising two little sons, Hadden and Hector at the moment. Grant also has a Masters in English and is an Assistant Director at Islington College of Further Education. Corinne is Married to Guy Sellers, a New Zealander living in England and Grant is Married to Misa (Odstrcilova)from the Czech Republic, who he met when he was teaching English therein the 1990's.
Hope this gives you a little information.

Looking for Information on Frederick James Glendinning Baker

I am trying to find out what happened to this gentleman and his family.
Frederick James Glendinning Baker was the son of John Frederick Baker (Royal Artilliary)and Ada Amelia Glendinning. The family was in the army in Jubbalpore, India when Frederick JG Baker was born around 1898. He was aged 2 in the 1901 census in Hampshire, married Annie Alicia Watson in Camberwell, London in 1923, and was living in Bromley, Kent in 1930 when Alicia died (in Farnborough hospital following an operation). Family history says he moved away, taking with him his young family, to join relatives "in Scotland" but I cannot find any death record for the name in Scotlands People. Does anybody have any information? If they are still alive his children have cousins in England they have never met and I would like to help them make contact if possible. Thanks in advance for your help.

Joy, we are cousins. I descend from your ancestor John McKay of New Galloway's older half-brother Robert McKay, through Robert's son William and his son another William, who immigrated to Georgia in 1867 with wife and children. I have an original letter written by your John "Uncle John" in the 1820s to his nephew William and loads of other information on our New Galloway ancestors which I would be delighted to exchange/share.
viking lineage

This is probably too broad a question, but I'm not looking to so much build an entire family tree (maybe someday), but I'm curious on my family bloodline and if it possibly intersects with vikings at any point. Reason I ask, is because I've got scots on both mother and fathers side of the family and I'm certain I'd read that vikings were there at one point.
What would be the best way for me to find this out? My last name is Somerville (Ross is the other). Thanks so much.

He is believed to have possibly fathered 2 illegitimate children: Thomas Glendinning b 1828 Mouswald and Elspeth Dickson Glendinning 12 Sep 1830. David & Janet had the following children:
James b. 17 Jun 1831 Mouswald
Robert b. 21 Oct 1832 Mouswald
William b. 23 Aug 1835 Mouswald
John b. 24 Nov 1836 Mouswald
David b. 24 Mar 1839 d. Dec 1839 Mouswald
Mary b. 26 Dec 1841 Dalton

I am descended from Mary Glendinning and Thomas Dickson but am interested filling the gaps we have on the siblings etc as well. Any info on thses Glendinnings would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Mick Dickson
Toowoomba, Queensland Australia
