I am looking for Frederick and Flora May Mapes Glos. Flora was born in 1867 in Monterey, NY and died in 1932. They had 4 children, Leon Mapes Glos, Edith Glos, Donald Glos, and Raymond E. Glos. My father last had contact with Raymond in Oxford, OH ~1976. I would love to contact anyone from this family. Flora May was my grandfather's sister and I never had contact with any Glos family members. If you can help, please let me know.

Harriet Gloso - Looking for more information

Ann Stevenson mother was Harriet Gloso according to her death certificate. Her father was Charles Stevenson. Harriet would have been born around 1835-1845. Any information would be appreciated. She was probably born in Texas.

I ran across a sketch at the Jackson County, (Minnesota)Historical Society which was done by a Adam M. Glos in 1888. Just wondering if they could be the same person.

As far as I know the only Glos to move to Calif are my cousins 2 daughters who live in the Los Angelos area. All the rest of our ancesters and family live/lived in the Chicago area

I have actually found my Father-in-Law's "Uncle"! I have traced back to his Great Grandfather coming to America... I'm just now getting "back" into the research.... I found him in the 1860 census ... but anything you have would be great!

Old Glos Family Home Razed
The former Glos home on North Third st. adjacent ot the Post Home of the Veterans of Foreign Wars was razed last Wednesday morning by burning. Supervised by the St. Charels Fire Department, the event was accomplished according to plan and the land available will be used by the F.F.W. as an enlarged p[arking lot. Th e Charles M. Glos family came to St. Charles in 1880. He was St. Charles city attorney in 1900 at the age of 27 and was also attorney for the U.S. Wind Engine and Pump Company of Batavia. He sang in the choir of the Methodist church and was married July 31, 1895 to Nettie F. Wilcox of St. Charles.
A photo of the home is included. May be available at St. Charles Library on microfilm.

My mother was related to the Elmhurst ,IL Gloses thru her dad George Philipp ( on page #4 of the 6 page tree)son of

Johann Philipp b1804
Adam ?
Is my Adam a brother of John Jr b 1812?
Or is my Adam's father a brother of Johannes b.1788?
I know there is a relationship because I grew up with many of their kin. We lived on the Glos farm property.

Sorry to ask that question so much. I have run into a few people who do not like to share any info.

Here is what I have on my family.

Henry Glos m. Magdalina Kolstedt parents of my great grandmother Ottilia Glos and her brother George Glos.

Parents to Henry Glos: George Glos and Elizabeth Fippinger.

Ottilia Glos m. Maxmillian Peter Geoppel on 1/4/1886.

Children of Ottilia and Max: Dorothy Elizabeth Geoppel
Ruth Ida Magdalina Geoppel and Ruby Maria Ranatta Geoppel.

Ruth m. Roger Bradford Lord-children Donald B. and Patricia.

Donald is my father, married Margaret Ann Kraft.
The dau's. Deborah Jean Lord Haynes
Jennifer Lynn Lord, and Wendy Ann Lord Lawrence.

Apple Valley resident Abe Glos, 86, died June 20, 2004.A lifelong resident of California, Abe lived in Apple Valley for the past 20 years. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict, and worked 40 years as a sales supervisor. Abe was an avid golfer. He was a former member of the Green Tree Golf Course Men's Club and a member of the Jess Ranch Golf Course Men's Club. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Carolyn Glos of Apple Valley; son, Gary Glos, of Coalinga; daughter, Sandra Ellis of Lancaster; and son, Randy Plum of Saugus. He also is survived by three grandchildren.Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Community Church at Jess Ranch, 11537 Apple Valley Road in Apple Valley. Graveside services will be private. Victor Valley Mortuary is handling arrangements.

I am looking for any information on the Glos family of Northfield Township, Illinois. Jacob Glos and his sister, Margarethe, were born in Bavaria. Margaretha married Adam Weber around 1843. Jacob's wife's name was Christina. Any information on either the Glos or Weber families would be greatly appreciated.

This is a very delayed response, so I hope you're still out there. Raymond Edgar Glos was the son of Henry and Emily who also had a daughter, Ruth Notz. He had a son Raymond Edgar Glos Jr who also lives in Illinois. He also had a son, Raymond Edgar Glos III who is my husband. I am interested in your connection.

I am looking for any info on the family of Adam M. GLOS (1836-1926) and Anna (MARTIN) GLOS (1841-1933)
- married 1861 in DuPage County, IL.
- Adam GLOS was a storekeeper in Wayne, DuPage Co. IL in the 1880s
- The shop was originally run by his father, John GLOS

Their children were:
Fred, George, Hattie, Clara, Myrtle and Mable (twins, b. 1881), and Harold GLOS

We are getting a little closer. I have found that Raymond Francis Glos (McKeesport PA) had a father named Francis Casper Glos (DOB 5/25/1895) who was born in Cumberland Maryland. Francis Casper's parents were George Francis Glos & Mary Elizabeth Johns. Anyone have these names in their history?? Thanks for you help.

I have found the Glos Family that I was looking for. They are located in Elizabeth & McKeesport PA. My Father-in-law's Uncle is in Elizabeth his name is Ron Glos. He's the one that I have been in contact with. My father-in-law was born Raymond Francis Glos II and then adopted by his mom's 2nd husband. His Father Raymond Francis Glos DOB 2-1-20 lived in McKeesport. His Grandfather / Grandmother was Frank Casper Glos & Elizabeth Katherine Snyder.

Have a connection in the Chicago area with Raymond Glos, with sisters, grace Flint and Ruth Notz. His father was born in 1853.

There was also a grand child, Raymond Gloss, Jr.

Why wouldn't I be willing to share? You ask this question often. Is there a reason I shouldn't?

I don't see the last name of Haynes via a quick-scan. However the tree is 6 pages and stops each time a daughter marries, since it only tracks Glos - so we may be related.

Give my some more details on your end - father/mother, their father - some names i can look for.

The tree is quite detailed. Going all the way back to Johannes Glos (Sr) b. 1788 (Bavaria) and his marriage to Eva Margaretha Wenz b. 1791 (Bavaria).

This as a rather delayed post - but here goes anyway.

I have quite a large family tree on the Glos family which settled in the Chicago area (coming from Germany). As well as a chapter on the family from a book written about the founding of a surburb of Chicago by our family, etc...

I believe that my Glos family begins with Adam Glos.
You can find some info at the Latter Day Saints page.
I have also found some information at the Ancestry site.
My Glos family is from Cook Co. IL and some of them are burined
at the Old Settlers Cemetary there. I just received some pictures
last week from a woman who is also connected to the family. Not sure how
yet as we need to find the children's names. I have also made contact
with a gentleman who is sending me his family file so we can connect there.

The Glos family I am working on is also from Il.
Henry Gloss, born 03/04/1853, died 03/21/31, lived in Northbrook, Il. and was a justice of the peace for 44 years.
He married Emilie Knochenmuss, of Chicago, in 1879. Henry and Emilie continued to live in Chicago until 1885, when they moved to Northbrook.

I don't know if any of the Glos's I know of his from there. As far as I have which is not much. They all came from Germany. The one I have, only a name, is Christof Gloß or todays spelling of Glos.He was born in 1589 and died in 1634. After him was Johan Gloß. He was born in 1615 and died in 1676. So if you have any other info let me know.

I had not realize there was any other Glos's in the USA in 1800's. So is he from Germany or where. Let me know Emil Glos was born in Germany and came over to the USA in the early 1930's from what I was told. I not know if any others came before him or not.

Glos family is also in Slovakia. My part is from Jelsava. My gggfather Ondrej Glos (1853-1935) has 4 children.
Also in encyclopedy of Slovakia are remembered Karol Glos (26.11.1821 Jelsava - 7.10.1907 Miskolc, Hungary) and Jan Glos (1670-1729).
Name Glos is to find also in this forms: Glos, Glosz, Glosius.
