I don't know if this relates to Robert Glover but when I was a child my family had a campground in Markleysburg. At the top of the hill was the Glover farm. We children would often go up there to play and one day I ahd a red dress on and was playing in the field. All of a sudden I heard a snorting and saw a huge bull come running for me. I managed to get to the fence and got through it just in time---I remember being in the house once. Those are my memories--good luck.

I also am African American, Not sure of where my grandparents originated from, all I know is they lived in Alabama, birthed several children, and their names were John Alex Glover, and Annie Ayers Glover. My father was born in 1909. We the Glover's are also related to the Mc Kay and Spann families as well. I do believe our name of Glover was given to us by slave masters as well.

He was born in either Clay County, KY or Clark County, KY in about 1840. He was married to Mary Jane Wiley(Churchman) in Jun 1881 in Franklin County, Tennessee. It was her second marriage. Together, they had Lemuel Emmitt Glover in 1883.

Sound familiar to anyone?

Just joined ancestry.com so hadn't seen this post before. However, I believe your reference to the book Isora's Child is incorrect as this book was not published until the mid-1850s. My great-great grandmother was Isora Lowe, 1839-1874. She was the 1st wife of Williamson Allen Glover, 1836-1900. 4 of her many children were Alfred Young Glover, 1865-1928, my great grandfather, Williamson Allen Glover, John Dunn Glover and Isora (Zodie) Glover DeMoville. As a child my grandmother, Allen Williamson Glover King, 1899-1986, used to speak of her Aunt Zodie Demoville all the time. My grandmother had a sister who was also named Isora. Isora, called Ninkie, Glover Mitternight.

Edward C Glover, who was sheriff in Orange County Texas, 1855 and his uncle John C Moore were convicted counterfeiters, operating in Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas. John C Moore and possibly Edward Glover were killed about 1856 in Orange Texas defending their counterfeiting equipment. In 1860, Orange Texas, orphaned Moore children were living with a Fowler family. Looking to prove or discount if these childrens father was John C Moore.

Hi Cleyone_Nichols,
Yes, Beverly R. Moore and I have communicated quite often and she did advise about the parentage of Robert A.M. GLOVER'S wife.
William Roxburgh GLOVER was my GG grandfather.
Crawford's obituary states that he and brother Robert went to Schuylkill County PA in 1858 but I have only found Crawford in the 1860 US census.
Robert was paying tax in the same district as Crawford by 1862 and by the 1870 census was living in Shenandoah PA.
Do you know when both Crawford and Robert migrated to the US?
Do you know the background that most likely led Crawford to migrate? It was a simple but eye opening event.
What connection do you have to the GLOVER family?

Cheers
Peter
Melbourne
Australia

Have you made your connection yet between David Glover and Robert Alexander Muir Glover? There are a couple of files in the Public Member Files that put him as a son to David Glover/Barbara Fullerton - as well as Crawford Fullerton Glover and Wm Roxburgh Glover. This David was a brother to the William Glover that married Catherine Owens. According to the files Robert Alexander Muir Glover married Catherine Glover who was a daughter of another David Glover - who was son of William/Catherine. So Robert married his uncle's granddaughter............ Look at the Beverly R. Moore file.

Clarence never adopted a daughter, he had too many of his own children! Clarence's first wife was Hattie Tolliver.
Children from this marriage were Clarence Leonard, Frieda Mildred, Edman Edgar, Cecil Orton, Austin Theodore, and Gaynell Gail Glover. After Hattie died he married Josephine Eichenseer. Children from this marriage were Allen Edward, Ralph Norman, Dorothy J, Donald Duane, Gerald Eugene, Louis A and Kenneth C.
I have this all on my tree on Ancestry "All My Family" with pictures of all that have passed away.

Kathy
